  1. They have to cover all sponsor and/or brand identification. Notice on Pat's S3 gear all the S3 is covered up and Sherco is taken off their bikes.
  2. It's my understanding the goverment is helping pay for it. Just as their TDN team gets goverment help like the olimpic team. Until the FIM lifts this "new" rule I don't see anybody putting on a U.S. Round
  3. Ossa's? What ever, no Copemech in sight
  4. The V-Mar clamps are nice clean well built units, plus they're made right here in the good old USA

    Ossa USA

I didn't hear the rumors, but I'm pretty sure who was telling them
  6. OK, so here's why you might want one. Just this last weekend my son's chain tensioner broke on the last loop. This was the result. Got lucky it didn't mess it up more. The only reason this bike didn't have one on is it's a 2011 and the old case guards won't fit. While at this same event measurements where taken off this bike and a 2011 case guard should be coming soon.
  7. The bike in the V-Mar picture has a standard D.I.D. dirt bike chain on it.
  8. Good eye there copey! That's what comes stock on the 3.2's
  9. We've seen it where the chain has come off the rear sprocket and try to double up and wrap around the counter shaft sprocket with the case guard installed. It stopped the chain from damaging anything else, and it slightly bent the top of the case saver. The bolts and everything else held just fine! Now one other thing. The price is $38.95 American dollars, I'm not sure what the exchange rate right now, but it would obviously be much less in Euro's. Shipping would be expensive! Though I do think there are company's over there that carry V-mar products. This kind of gets me. Nobody is making any money on trials products, a guy puts out a product for a fair price (in U.S. dollars) and everybody wants to make their own! And I'm not talking about just this. Please support those that care enough to make trials products!

    Clutch tweak

I have also noticed the clutch is quicker on my son's 2011 125 when compared to the 2010 125, which is something he likes. The '11 does have a smaller diameter braided clutch line instead of the old larger plastic hose, this might be part of what makes it faster. Maybe try the older hose?
  11. I've had a few 3.2's, the latest being an '09. I had a ride on a '10. Feels like the new Sherco's with the 4t motor. Since you already know what the 4t motor is like have a go on a new Sherco 2t. If you like the feeling of the new chassis then you should like the new 4t. I still haven't seen any pictures of the '11 4t. I assume it doesn't have a new motor like the 2t's?
  12. If all is good with the carb your fuel screw may be too far in. The bike should idle nice. On our '08 we ran 38 pilot & 110 main with the fuel screw 3-4 turns out.
  13. My 250 Access always ran way lean on start up. I ended up puting a much larger choke jet in, can't remember what size, bike has been sold, but it really helped the starting.

    New bike time

Why would you say '03 was the worst? I had an '03 up until the time I got an '06. It was a great bike, gave me no problems and while the '06 was a newer fresher bike with a few updates, they really weren't that different.

On my wife's new phone you can put in your favorite places and instantly see the weather. So we put in Jasper TN. highs in the 30's for the next few days! Every time I start wanting to get out of Ca. along comes winter, for the rest of the country. We may hit the low 80's this weekend! Where you headed? The U.S. is a big place.

    S3 Head Install ?

I just read your post again and it sounds like you did use the copper washer on top of the head. seems strange it still leaked. I take that back, I just looked at a head bolt I had sitting on my shelf. It does get thicker at the top where the copper washer would be sealing, plus I would guess there would be threads where washer is sitting now with the older style studs? Just out of curiosity, did you get the high compression insert or the High High insert?

    S3 Head Install ?

Did you use the copper washers that the 2010's use on top of the head? The older studs should work fine if you use those. If you do use the newer head bolts be sure they don't bottom out in the cylinder since the S3 head isn't as thick where the bolts go through the head as the stock head. If it was me I wouldn't mess with the bolts, I would just install the washers, part #2390 The washers that you got from RYP are so the inner head o-ring doesn't blow out, not to stop the coolant from coming out around the studs. We went through a bunch of the inner head o-rings on my son's 125 before we figured it out.

    S3 Head Install ?

With the S3 head you need to use the copper head bolt washers that come on the 2010 Sherco's. On the S3 head the head bolts go directly through the water passage, where on the stock head they are sealed off from the water.
  19. Yes the dellorto main jet fits it. I'm using a #128 (42 pilot) and it runs and starts excellent. Interesting, I don't see the carb on the 2009 4t parts books for the parts numbers.
  20. You have more than we have in our rule book. We have the same basic class structure here in SoCal. I don't believe you can have it written in the rule book how hard or easy sections should be. Even if it was possible a good section designer knows the riders that are currently riding in the events and tries to build sections to suit all of them. I know after every trial I go through the results, look at everybody's overall scores and see what sections people had a hard time with. If it was too hard or too easy I can now adjust my sections for the next trial. Just a couple of examples, right now we have one class that the caliber of riders in it aren't as good as they where the last couple of years in my opinion and all have been scoring high. For the next event we should easy up on them a little (not too much) When the scores start dropping too low we can then increase the difficulty. Another extreme example is our top class. Two of our regular riders will be riding the Pro class at the nationals and the other is a good national expert so those sections have gotten a lot harder than they where a few years ago when the top rider was a mid pack national expert. You'll keep the riders happy if you build sections that suit them. I don't think that can be written in the rule book.

    rev 80 engine

Actually the the old KTM 50 & 65 motors where built by Beta. The Beta 80 motor is the same basic motor as a KTM 65 through '09, though the power is not the same at all. Not sure if the clutches will interchange though.
  22. Here in Southern California our ridership dropped about 2 years ago, but since then has been holding pretty steady. I've also seen the same thing up in Northern Ca. I've asked some of the people who have stopped competing and they all have different reasons why, it's not just one thing. What I see though is groups of guys stop coming. For example there's a group of 5 guys that normally ride and practice together and have a great time. Then one guy stops coming for what ever reason, then another. After that it's not as much fun for the remaining guys anymore and they stop coming. Seen it a few times now, once one guy in a group of buddies drops out, the others usually do too. Raising the prices is the last thing that should be done. Just like when you raise taxes, it only makes things worse. The last few years we have also been giving year end Iron Man awards for the riders who ride (or check) all the trials that season. I think it has helped. Our last event had several new riders which was great, but many of the regulars weren't there so the number of riders held steady. I organize several trials a year and I'm under 45, but the majority of my help are in their 40's or 50's. All the other organizers we have are over 45. Up North kids ride their Saturday events for free, which I think is great, especially if you have more than 1. I do feel bad when a new guy comes with 2 kids has to do AMA, club membership & the entry fees. Welcome to trials, now had us over $170. Next time that guys entry should at least be free.
  23. Update-- Since going to the High High compression insert it's been blowing the inner head o-ring out next to the head bolts. Tried a few different things, but nothing has worked. I didn't notice any problems with just the High compression insert until I took it apart and the o-ring didn't look so good. It looks like to me that the groove for the inner head o-ring comes closer to the grooves in the cylinder for the stud o-rings than the stock head does and that's why it's getting pushed out. Stock head back on now. I also found that the 2010 flywheel is already lighter than the 2009 and earlier flywheels. Not sure if we want to go lighter or not.
  24. Coming from Ca. really won't be bad for us. We go to the Youth Nationals at the TTC every year anyways and the national is the week before so that works out good for us, just a little extra time at TTC We also made the trip to the OK. national last year and had a great time, I would think Tx. should be about the same. We'll probably skip Pa. Now that I think about it, we'll actually travel less next year and yet hit the 5 that will count toward the year end standings.
