  1. Well how ever they count the rounds there is no denying the best rider is World Champion and that's as it should be.
  2. Here in the states the Beta factory team uses a 50 pilot and 120 main. I know going bigger on the pilot may seem like the wrong way to go, but with the 120 main the bikes run strong and clean all the way through the RPM range.
  3. So here's some numbers for you. I traveled to all the nationals so far NY, VT, AZ, NM, plus the Eastern and Western Youth Nationals. All while pulling the Beta trials team trailer. I used my truck to haul the Beta trailer. Once there my son Ty and I set up the Beta pits for the riders. It was fun, but a lot of work! Counting the World Round from California we drove 12,760 miles and traveled through 22 states. Plus we still have Duluth in a few weeks. Besides coming to the U.S. I don't think the world round riders even travel that many miles!
  4. Beta makes the motor. In fact they made it for KTM to put into the older 65's. Of course that's a diffrent bore and stroke so you can't buy a piston from KTM, not that it would be cheap anyways.
  5. The Sherco clutch lever is diffrent than other AJP master cylinders. S3 does make a lever for Sherco. The mounting bolt hole is a liitle offset on the Sherco S3 clutch lever. The standard AJP lever will work in an bind, but the bolt/pin that pushes on the plunger will be at a bad angle giving a bad feeling at the lever. Also the S3 levers aren't really any larger than the stock levers. I haven't found any large levers that fit the stock Sherco clutch master cylinder. That's the main reason I swap to a race/enduro master cylinder. The front brake levers are the same as other AJP.

    Sherco Mods

48t rear sprocket is one of the best mods to make. For the standard carb 38 pilot-112 main worked good for us.
  7. For the levers you can got to any trials source. Front brake levers fit all modern trials bikes but Beta. Clutch is the same as Gas Gas and Montesa 4rt
  8. This is the 2012 Scorpa. I have heard nothing of a 2013 myself. I'm very happy with my '12. I think about seling it and updating to a '13, but when I ride it I think why would I want anything else?
  9. Yes the mounting is the same, I have updated a Beta 80 from the 2 to the 4. Not sure why you would want to go to 2? They don't work near as well. You shouldn't have any trouble with a new 4.
  10. All new frame in '10, new motor in '11 and all new suspension in '12 with lots of other updates through those years. With all that I wouldn't expect many changes for '13. From others posts I'm guessing you got an Ossa and have a few issues? Goes back to a point I made last year, what makes a good bike is good handling, power and suspension. Don't need the latest in tech. to make that happen. I have sold a few Sherco's this year and all have been happy with the Kiehin carb!
  11. You really want to go there?!! How can we have diversified sections set up by the many when the "many" don't show up work? The Thursday before the Ca. National 3 of us along with the stewart spent about 10 hours working on and finishing up sections the "many" didn't bother to finish (which I thought where all finished) The stewart was valuable help to us. I have been in the unique postion of both building sections this year and as a Minder. I don't really like the new rule, but it's what we have. In the first 4 rounds my son has at least 8 fives for hitting gates. Nobody's fault but his own. What people don't relieze is that when you put a gate in, you have to keep it out of the way of all 4 classes. A spot out of the way for the Clubman is in the wrong spot for Sportsman or Expert or Pro. People only look at their own line, the sections builders are looking at all 4.
  12. The electrical problems that caused hard strating while hot where all replaced under warrenty by the factory on the 2011's. I have a 2012 and really like it. The front end feels about 30 pounds lighter than the old Yamaha powered Scorpa's. They really kept all the good old handling traits and fixed the bad ones! I've had zero problems with my bike!
  13. Black on a Sherco White on a Scorpa
  14. Ha Ha, leave it to Kramit to get you all wound up! This guy rides the biggest baddest 4t trials bike I've ever seen!
  15. It's totally normal with the 200 Sherco. What your hearing are the wrist pin spacers the 200 Sherco uses. That's why you don't hear it with the bike laid over.
  16. Yep, the first batch of 2010's had the problem of the baffles coming loose and where replaced under warranty. Not sure why yours would have that problem, the Caby was a later production run. Check with your dealer and see if you can still get it swapped out under warranty

    Sherco Air Filter

Cope, I think this happens more when the bike isn't running like when the bike is getting washed. Water would enter through the air box, run down the intake and into the carb. Once there it would seep into the bowl. The first few times we weren't careful washing a 2010 and I had to drain the bowl (still on the bike) until just fuel was coming out and no water. Then all was well. After that I always removed the filter and stuffed a clean towel into the intake and air box whn washing. As stated never had any problems riding in the rainiest trials.

    Sherco Air Filter

We never had any problems with the 2011 in wet or muddy conditions, only when washing the bikes. The 12 is way better, there are a couple drains before the water would get to the filter. Now my kid can go crazy washing his bike and the filter stays dry
  19. Sounds like you got the correct thing. I run NGK BP5ES, same as the Sherco's. I had a pinched fuel line too. Never caused any problems, I just saw it and fixed it. No other problems with the bike We had a 125 that my son and I rode for a while. He also had a Sherco 125 (I'm a dealer) With the 125 it was very easy to tell that with the Scorpa air box and muffler design the bike had more bottom end power, but wouldn't rev out as far as they would with the Sherco design. When I had the opportunity to compete on a 280 I found the same thing, very strong off the bottom, when compared to a standard Sherco. I'm guessing it also didn't rev out as far, but I'm not the kind of rider that really tests that on a 280. When it was time to get myself a 2012 bike I decided to get myself a Scorpa 280 just because I really like the way they handle and the action of the rear shock. Goes to show you don't need backwards cylinders or tanks moved around to have a great bike
  20. Ours developed starting problems too when warm. Scorpa/Sherco (Spain) know of this problem and replaced parts under warranty. We got a CDI and the Stator. Make sure your not just getting another stock 2011 Scorpa stator as the problem will still be there. They replaced mine with an older Sherco unit (pre duel mapping). I believe this is also why you need the CDI, to match up with the stator. You wind up with wires that are too long coming from the stator, but this is the one that will cure your hot starting problems.

    2012 models

You'll be very happy with your 250. We've had my son's bike for about 2 months now and are very pleased with it. Even though the 250 uses the PHBL Dellorto and the old ignition, this is the best/cleanest running bike we have had! Not sure if it's the air box or exhaust or a combination, but it's a sweet running bike. I'm also happy they finally lowered the radiator, put a petcock on and the few other nice changes they made. I haven't spent enough time on it myself to tell about the new suspension, but the new linkage is easier to work on, and it looks pretty
  22. We where very happy with the power of my son's 2011 125 Sherco. When he rode the GG he said they didn't have as much power. For sure put on a 48 rear sprocket. Biggest improvement. Jetting-leave in the stock 40 pilot and go with a 112 main. A S3 head with the "high high" insert helps a little, but not much. S3 header pipe didn't make much of a difference. While on that, make sure the reducer is still installed into the stock header pipe.
  23. From my experance the Beta 4t's have always been easy to start. I never used the hot start button. When warm I would just slightly crack the throttle and it would start right up!
  24. Right now sitting in my shop is a 2011 Sherco 2.9, 2012 Sherco 2.5 and a 2011 Beta EVO 250. I've spent a good amount of time on each. I've read all of Chewy's posts and I must say I totally disagree with his assessment of the Sherco's handling. I find the Sherco to be a very forgiving handling wise. You can get away with not always being perfect on the bike. On the Beta, it does turn quicker/sharper, but you better be ready for it or it'll knife in on you. I love the handling of both bikes, they're just very different! On the 2011, once the float height is correct you should have no issue's. They're good bikes! The rear shock is for sure better than your 2003 Scorpa! I also had the opportunity to ride a 2011 Scorpa 280 in a national. That bike worked very well.Suspension and handling where great and the older Sherco motor runs very strong with the Scorpa exhaust and air box design! It's a totally new Scorpa with a few of the good old Scorpa traits left in. Reading forums about bikes can make your head spin. You read enough and every bike can seem like it has all kinds of problems! My experience with bikes is often much different from what I read. Take it all with a grain of salt.
  25. Any U.S. Beta dealer will be able to get them for you direct from Beta.
