  1. They where banned from Supercross/Motocross & Offroad in the early 90's when team Kawasaki started using them. Obviously same rules would apply to Endurocross. Good job Ronnie
  2. I think what you are hearing is the automatic compression release. I've heard it on other 4t's (non trials). At very low idle or tick over the cam isn't going fast enough to full disengage it. I think my 3.2 did it too, but I really can't remember.
  3. So a little Birdie gave me the scores, Thanks little birdie. Youth national scores
  4. Steve, of course we would still come. It's probably our most fun week of the year. My point is without coverage it is less likely to draw new family's, especially those from far away like you and I. That's part of what drew me into taking a 6 year old across that country in 2005, seeing all the kids have fun. Not just in competition, but also in the camp before hand.
  5. I agree the coverage was a little sad. In the past it got the cover and pages of coverage. I know Shan wasn't there due to other obligations. My guess is if somebody just took the pictures and wrote an article with results it would be published. The coverage is part of what got us to go the first time. Ty and I looked at the 2004 Trials Comp many times (the one with Ronnie Commo on the cover), he saw pictures of the older kids that he knew and with all the coverage it made both he and I really want to go. I also recently went through all my fuel receipts and it added up to $2094.24 No wonder we're broke now!

    Rear Tire

I've been using Dunlop's for a while now. The main difference for me is the side wall is stiffer on the Dunlop. Because of this I drop the air pressure by 1 pound. With that I can't feel the difference between the two. They seem to last about the same for me. They must be pretty descent tires too since they won the national championship for the last several years.

    Switch Back

Thanks Goat a 225 sounds like fun, but can't/won't ride a Gas Gas. Cope, a 2.5 is a great bike. I actually like them better than a 2.9 Back on topic- I have one "friend" that had a 4rt and could never get used to it and never felt comfortable no matter how hard he tried, in fact he went back to riding his old beat 315r because he felt more at home on it. He now has a Scopa SY 250 that he has liked from the get go. On the other hand another friend has a 4rt that he liked, but got a new Scopra SY 250 because it was time for a new bike. It's now taking him a while to adjust to it. I think he will eventually due well on it, it will just take some time.

    Switch Back

I've gone through a few bikes in the last year-260cc 4rt, Sherco 3.2 4t, 04 Sherco 2.9, 08 Scorpa 250 2t & now 08 Sherco 2.9. Through all those bikes, both 4t & 2t the one thing that has stayed constant is my results. I can truly say the bike makes no diffrance. My favorite to ride though is the 3.2 4t because of the awesome torque and my second favorite is the Scorpa 2t because of the incredibly smooth motor and awesome turning. I will say I find it easier to go from a 2t to a 4t than a 4t to a 2t. When I ride a 2t again it feels like it's running away when I let off the throttle. I think what i really want to try next is a 125 Sherco with the 200 kit, that sounds like fun

    Xispa 25

I have one for my 4 year old son and they are great little bikes! Just make sure you get all the exhaust restrictors out. The only bad I've had so far is the fuel tank opening is tiny and the bike is kind of loud--actually sounds pretty cool, just loud for a 50.
  10. The thing is there is no clear answer. It depends on what DMV office you go to and who you get. Some people get green, some red and others can't get their bikes registered at all!!. Good Luck!
  11. I can report to all the parents back home that your teenage kids are having a really great time! They, or should I say WE. even got thrown out of the go cart track today, lots of fun!! There was a heavy down pour today just before the evening riding season so the kids got lots of wet practice. Beyond that many bee stings and a few new hair cuts Really I see the kids working hard and pushing themselves to become better riders. I know what you mean about Chase. I've known Chase for a while now and he's always been a great rider, but I was surprised this year that his hole riding style and stance on the bike has changed since last year. Goes to show he has been working hard on the basics
  12. Hey, the small two on the left of the podium are my youngest kids, Cole age 4 and Emily age 7. Neither has ridden much are still sit down riders. They had been saying they wanted to ride so I finally let them the final day, I had wanted to wait till they could at least stand up but I let them go the last day anyways. They had fun and that's all that really matters. Thanks for the kind words Craig, but he has a long way to go and there's many great riders coming a long before him. He's on a Sherco 125, it's listed wrong in the story.
  13. Well I'm still here at the TTC. Sorry Cope didn't get your message till I logged on just now. Guess it wouldn't be a fair wager. Another great event!! All the kids are really progressing. In the top 15 & under class it was a three way battle between Eric Storz, Karl Davis Jr. & David Mizell with each one of them winning one of the days. In the end Karl won the championship. As a side note the top three riders where all on 125's. In the 13 & under class Chase Harker easily won his 6th title in a row. Zeke (I think that's how you spell his name) Mizell won the 11& under class with two wins. The other win coming from Aaron Thistle on day one. I saw Aaron have several great rides! Steve Fracy's son Matt was also up there and had some close scores with the winners. My son Ty won the 9 &under class all three days. I will say he rode pretty good cleaning 5 out of the 9 loops for the event. Joey Jackson won the 7 & under class with two wins and the littlest riding Mizell (sorry can't remember his name) won the first day. We had great weather with almost no rain and not too hot at all. It was good to see all my friends again and finally meet others in person. We're going to be here for the next week since I'm hauling some of the bikes home for the boys staying for the teenage camp. We plan on doing some sight seeing and just hanging out. Ty is also going to go out and ride all the "2" lines that he hasn't already to get ready for when he makes the move up, the practice starts now for next year.
  14. 1 Cody Webb 2 Will Ibsen 3 Pat Smage 4 Diego Ordonez It was an awesome event. The top three riders rode great. They used some of the same obstacles as in the past, but set them up even harder. Things that gave Geoff Aaron, Ryan Bell etc. fits these boys flew up like it was nothing! In the final round the top three where clean after several sections. Cody was the first to make a mistake as he got a little out of shape going down the stairs and put a dab down. You could tell he thought his night was over. The big moment came on the next section though when they had to go from the top of a big 6ft tall round plastic pipe on it's side to a long small narrow pipe running length wise. Will did what the section designers intended and dropped to the floor before jumping back up onto the second pipe cleaning the section. Cody then went next and lined his 3.2 4t up straight and made a perfect leap to the small narrow pipe getting a clean. After Cody made the leap Pat had to do it, but Pat didn't get the same lift as Cody and didn't make it collecting a five. Will rode great and finished all the sections with 0 points. Cody had 1 and Pat had 5. But we still had the races!! In indoor they have two races and the loser of the races gets an extra point. With that Cody had to win both head to head races with Will to win which he did in spectacular fashion. As I said it was a great night especially with the enthusiasm of all the kids from the youth event there and they gave out the youth overall awards during intermission.

    Trials Forum

The hole reason I got interested in TC was the fun reading between Lane, Alan and a few others. I would come home and jump on the computer just to see what they had to say next. Now Lane is gone, Alan doesn't post much and there's no excitement. The down side to the fun though is the new person that comes in and is looking for trials info. He sees all that going and thinks "those people are all messed up and not very friendly, I don't want to be any part of that" it defiantly makes the wrong impression.
  16. Wayne Have you ever needed to use your hot start lever? I never needed it on mine, in fact I ended up taking it off.
  17. While my son's bike is an '08 I think this still applies. When I got his bike it was a little fat on the top end but other wise seemed to run good. I was then told by one of the other dads to put a 38 pilot in it. That seemed crazy to me since that's bigger than what a 2.9 uses. Well that bigger pilot really woke the bottom end up. It's no 250 or 200 but it made it much stronger off the bottom. The 125 just doesn't draw as much fuel so it needs a bigger pilot. We're using a 114 main, will probably go bigger when he gets older and more aggressive. A 48 rear sprocket also works well.
  18. My wife just found this on e-bay. Not a trials bike, but he's doing trials stuff. trophy
  19. It looks and sounds awesome.
  20. Check out the June issue of Dirt Bike magazine for a test on the Scorpa 125 4 stroke. It's great to see trials bikes out there in the main stream motorcycle press. If you look with a magnifying glass and squint your eyes really hard you can almost see one of my stickers behind the TY-S125F sticker.
  21. Wow JR that stinks! I was feeling bad because I can usally keep a bike looking new for a long time, but the first time I took my 2008 Scorpa SY 250 out I crashed in a section and put a small scratch on the tank. Guess that's nothing compared to what happened to you. Ridgrunr, Enjoy uncrating your bike. It's something that I really enjoy, even when I do it for somebody else.
  22. I wish my numbers where like yours! Over a 4,000 mile round trip, Diesel well over $5 a gallon (hopefully cheaper out of Ca.) truck pulling our little house gets about 9 miles a gallon. We figure well over $2,000 in fuel. We had thought about just Ty and I coming in our smaller SUV and tenting it or something, but the whole family really wants to go and has been looking forward to it. As for the other kids from Ca. we have Eric Storz 0 line, Ian Delaney 0 line, Renata Delaney 3 line + womans. That's only 4 kids from Ca. Fortunately we're taking their bikes to off set the cost a little.
  23. Paul, The funny thing was that when the confusion over classes with the kids happened was around the same time Alan had been talking about class conformity for all the different clubs. Since we go Novice-Sportsman-Intermediate-etc. and you go Novice-Intermediate-Sportsman-etc. the kids rode in the same class and didn't even know it.
  24. That reminds me of last year during the youth camp Ty was talking with Aaron, Dean and some of the other kids telling them how he rides the Sportsman class at home. They thought he was either really good or full of it (I'm sure they thought full of it). So they asked me what class he rides in. I confirmed he rode Sportsman and let them sit on it for a minute or two before telling them that in our club Sportsman comes before Intermediate.
