That's true, but it is still no excuse for this. Besides he got beat straight up, no one to blame except himself
-
I kind of figured you might take the picture in the pits.
-
I originally had this picture in my post, but since I don't know Pat I figured I shouldn't give him a hard time so I deleted it
-
One of Vince's pictures. I was shocked when Colton and Cody made this jump on their trials bikes. Although Cody didn't make the main he should be proud of his weekend. He handled himself great at the AMA awards banquet and then rode well in the Endurocross including pushing his bike over logs and down the long straight to the finish after he drowned it out in the time trials.
I was wrong, Obviously Taddy the winner is a trials rider. He rode a KTM.
-
Pictures from the banquet. My camera didn't work too good with the fog machine going in the background
Trials Champions in Attendance L to R, Josiah Mizell, Cody Webb, Gary Hoover, Alex Bedley, Ty Cullins, Pat Smage, Marvin Edgington(I think), Dale Malasek
Pat making his speech
Indoor champ Cody Webb making his speech. He made a very nice and entertaining speech. He was a good representative for trials in front of all the other disciplines.

Just got home from VegasColton Haaker finished 4th he was the fastest rider on the track with his 4rt (I mean his Dad's 2 year old 4rt). He got a typical bad trials bike start then got caught up in some traffic and fell just after the first corner. He then got up and was moving through the pack fast and got up to 4th and making up a lot of time on the first two big time. Unfortantly he then got caught up with with some other riders stuck on the rock pile and lost a bunch of time and a few spots, he charged back up to forth at the end. He was also the top finishing American rider
I think the announcer missed it big time!! This high school trials kid sets fast lap time against highly paid factory riders on his dads trials bike!!
He and Geoff Aaron won their heat races. Geoff ended up 6th or 7th on a two wheel drive KTM. They where the only two trials riders in the main.
Cody also rode very well, but he kept drowning out his bike in the water hole. In the LCQ he had it won until the last corner after that water hole his bike died with the checkers in site. Talking to Kip afterward he was pulling the carb and draining water out after every race.
I'm surprised City Trials didn't post a picture on Phil's front rim. He bent it pretty bad after he tangled with some other riders.
As for David Night he was an @ss after he didn't win. He ghost rode his bike over the big tire pile at the winner. The bike went flying over the tires and could have really hurt somebody on the other side as he blindly sent the bike over.

This is from a Racer-X interview with the promoter after the first round
-
I've showed pictures of this before, last time with white plastic. I changed it back to the RTL plastic for a trials demo.
To make a bike stand out the flat tank is awesome. Plastic is an easy swap that really changes things.

Had a V-Mar on my Beta, very nice!!
-
Do you only get one if you pre entered an event? I post entered an event and never got one.
-
The only other thing I would recommend would be to check the valves.
-
How can we get an accurate U.S. price if there isn't even an importer yet?

You guys have covered a lot of stuff
First off I am still really liking my 3.2, more every time I ride it. I still have yet to stall it under normal riding conditions. For me I don't want EFI so much for the way it performs while I am riding, but rather for the simplicity of it. You never have to work on it, rejet it or anything. Just get on and go. What could be simpler? That's why I like EFI. Living with a bike that has EFI for almost a year the whole EFI debate seems silly, of course EFI is better. It just doesn't make one complete bike better than another. "Fly-by-wire" has been used on planes and cars for years, anybody heard of a car going full throttle threw an intersection because of it? A bike would be no different, I would welcome it.
In a earlier post it was said a Sherco was smoother than a Montesa? Well that may be the case with an '05 Sherco, but my '07 3.2 produces much more power and has more snap off the bottom than my 4rt with an HRC 260cc big bore, cam, Mitani exhaust, with more aggressive mapping. I like it that way
I also agree that the bike makes very little difference in your score. My first trials bike was a used '97 Beta and I'm sure there is nothing that I couldn't do on that bike that I can do on a new bike, but I will for sure have a lot more fun doing it on a new bike and isn't that why we do this?
For me right now I'm having a lot of fun on the Sherco 3.2 4t.
-
I can swap the rear wheel from my 4rt to my '07 Sherco 3.2 just by changing the spacers.
-
Welcome to Southern California Where are you moving to?
I would love to tell you to come to the U.S. and buy a Sherco, but to be honest you probably couldn't buy one for that price. I would say bring it with you. Plenty of Sherco's here, just at a higher price than your used to.

Might be fun to watch, but I won't stand too close
Well since you asked, I let my six year old daughter play with the camera in front of the shop
looks better without me
Playing with the bike some more I still haven't had it cough, stall or have any flat spots unless I try to get it to do it. I do plan on playing with the jetting a little though to see if it can come closer passing the Don test. (Ty has yet to stall it either and I can't keep him off it)
-
I was just calling you an extreme rider Don
I rode the bike all weekend and never once stalled it. I let several other two stroke riders ride it and none stalled it and all came back with a smile on their face. After Don and the other rider made it stall I rode it yesterday morning and purposely gave it full throttle from a slow crawl at idle and of course it stalled. Did the same with my 4rt and of course it didn't. Never had any issue's while I normally rode, but as I, Don & Atom have stated EFI is the way to go.
-
But then I would get it dirty Steve does your bike have a Dellorto or a Keihin. I was surprised to see the '07 has a PWK Keihin. Stock jetting seems good to me, I only adjusted the air screw a little. As I mentioned above it only coughs when I tryed to make it cough, it didn't do it once under normal riding conditions for me.
Next time I see him I will take a picture of him riding my bike. If I go with a different shock I will let you know. I don't know about the cheap part though
-
After riding it in a trials this weekend the short answer is, I do really like the bike
After changing the gearing it feels perfect for me. I really like the motor and the way the bike handles. The geometry and steering is so much better than the '06 2.9 that I had. I never could get along with that bike. The 4t turns way better than the '06. Gearing it down really helps in the slow tight turns.
The bike started really easy all day, never used the hot start. It didn't even want the choke in the morning. They took there biggest problem and made it one of their best features.
Comparing it to my Montesa
Things that I like better;
Power, More torque right off the bottom as you would expect from an extra 70cc's
Starts easy in gear
lighter
Riding position, this surprised me because I have always felt comfortable on the Montesa and not as much on Sherco's.
Things not as good;
Suspension, I love the Montesa suspension especially the rear shock
EFI, there is no substitute for fuel injection. Just get on and go no matter where you are, no worries. I never had an issue with it while I rode it, but the Sherco will cough and stall under extreme conditions as any 4t with a carb will.
It vibrates more and doesn't have the same finished feel while riding as a 4rt.
Some people might like the softer bottom end power of the Montesa & the Montesa also rev's faster.
If this bike had a better shock and fuel injection it might be the perfect bike. As it stands now I really like it and am happy with it
-
Thanks guys,
When I said I was worried I was just joking
I rode it for about 45 minutes today at my house and as I expected I need to gear it down. I have tended to gear down my last few bikes, put a 44 on the Montesa and put a 9 counter shaft on the '06 2.9 that I had. The funny thing is I usually then ride most sections in second gear. I don't know why but 2nd feels better to me on a geared down bike than first with stock gearing then in tight spots I do use first. I just swapped the 44 sprocket off my Montesa so I will see how that feels at the trial this weekend.
As mentioned it definitely has plenty of snap. The two stage mapping switch softens it a little. I let my son ride it for a little bit and the first thing he said was it was "jumpy". Of course he was trying to ride it like his 80. He then decided he really liked it when he discovered he could ride wheelies much longer on this than he could on his bike. The only other 3.2 I have been around is the '05 that Steve now has and it seemed pretty quite, hearing someone else ride this bike it seemed louder. To me it almost sounds like a vintage 4t trials bike. I also realised I'm probably not a very responsible parent for letting an eight year old ride a 320cc bike. Heck if we lived on the other side of the pond wouldn't he still be on a 50?
I will say they fixed all their hot start problems, started easy every time without even using the hot start lever and unlike the Montesa it starts in gear
-
Come on Ian, you know parents just like to hear themselves talk.
The person that took the pictures is a family member of one of the Beta riders.
It is a real nice place to ride and with the elevation I did notice while I was checking there was a lot of people trying to catch there breath as they came to my section.
Plans are to have the El Trial come back down south to Lucerne for next year.
-
Now you guys have me worried with all this BIG power talk as my 3.2 is arriving tommarow
-
This is off the PITS Yahoo group: Taken by Doug Elliot's family
Kids trial
Saturday Vintage/Beginner trial
Sunday's trial
They didn't get any pro pictures.

I threw away my copy (at least I told the wife that), it almost ruined my marriage since strange women kept swarming to me. I don't remember reading that on the warning label now I just watch it late at night all by myself
So what happened to No Jive this weekend? I only saw him come around once to my section.
