  1. Unfortunately the gas prices are catching up with us and we won't be making many more of the trials up north this year I had been wondering who hop_sing is. With that name I had been thinking "who up there is an oriental trials rider?" Guess now I know it's Joe. A long way from being oriental
  2. I heard from a friend that was just over there how bad it is. I'm guessing you guys don't travel over 2,000 miles each way to a trials though. If we where a $10.00 I'm sure I wouldn't either. I only paid $5.17 for diesel today
  3. Steve, The best thing I can say is be there for the youth camp the week before, if for no other reason than getting used to the weather. With the humidity we're dying the first few days, but by the time the competition starts we don't even notice it. The camp is also a ton of fun
  4. Thanks Craig, at 4'-11 1/2" (he really wants to be 5') and over 100lbs. he's a little big for a OSET. He does try trash his sisters though. Paul, at 9 he will still be on line 3. I think the pictures make him look a little bigger than he is.
  5. For the second year in a row my 9 year old son Ty who is now in 3rd grade got to do a trials demo at his school. This time Ty wanted to do it on the black top since last year he had a hard time doing nose wheelies in the loose play ground dirt. I also set up a little section so the kids and teachers could actually understand what is we do. They even got to see him "5" the section the first time since I put a large wooden box for him top hop up onto with nothing at the bottom for help. He hadn't seen it before and took it a little too easy the first time, he did clean it on his third try. It was fun to stand back with the kids and listen to all there comments. Every time he did a wheelie, nose wheelie or and obstacle they went nuts! I forgot to take as many pictures this time. Here is the few I did take. Getting up onto the trailer Off the trailer. I tried to get him to jump off the trailer last year, but he wouldn't. This year he was telling me beforehand he wanted to. Over the teeter totter (is that how you spell that?) From the other angle
  6. It's still not stopping us. Here in California Diesel is well over $5.00 a gallon, but we'll make the trip. We're just taking as many extra bikes as we can to help pay for it. Anybody in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma or Arkansas need their bikes picked up and hauled there?
  7. They tried something like that at Donner in 2004. Apparentlly NATC didn't like it and made rules so it couldn't be done again. As far as money for the pros, as long as they don't fund it with the support riders I'm all for it. Even if they just used the pro entry fee as a pay back would be good. They would then only be loosing 8-9 in riders entry fees. For next season we are even doing that for our local SoCal riders in the top class. There is only 5 of them and it won't amount to much, but their entry fees all go into the "pro purse". If we can do it at the club level there is no reason the NATC can't do it. I'm not sure what the NATC does with the money, but this is one of the few times I've ever seen where somebody does less work (fewer nationals) then raises the price so their income stays the same.
  8. Yeah, real good to see Cody get up there for the win! Looks like section 1 was a killer with Cody the only one to clean it. A big gap back to third. Hard to believe the season is now half over.
  9. John, I have been pretty active in my club lately putting on trials and the such, so her are my thoughts. That's why events are AMA sanctioned, they do the Insurance (or it's a outside company they use) different types of events have different rates and trials is the cheapest. We have both Sat. & Sun. trials. Some people like Saturday and some people have to work Saturday. Go with what the people in your area like. If they are already Saturday riders then that would probably be best. The number of lines would just depend on your rider demographics. You know who will most likely come, so will all of those riders riding ability fit within those classes three classes? If not add more. Since you are just starting out small you want every one of your riders to have a good experience. My only other piece of advice for starting your club and putting on events is, do what will make your members happy and not so much how you think things should be.
  10. Unlike two years ago she thought roosting the checkers was too nice I think she is missing two very large assets to be anything like Lara
  11. I know the Future bikes are some of the trickest out there, but gold just looks tacky. I don't care if it's on a Raga Gas Gas or a Montesa gold parts look cheap to me (I know they aren't)
  12. I think he did it to make 2nd more usable in most sections as that is what he prefers. Of course he insisted on V-Mar as he wanted a good American made product or it may be because with the current exchange rate even after shipping it cost $1.50
  13. and the 9 year old son's 125. He was upset I left his out.
  14. Caby's riding a 4t now!!

Yes totally, starts as easy or easier than a 4rt
  16. I contacted those that cleaned up the sections per Kip's request and unfortunately none saw anything. Got a good picture of Harry too, as well as some guys big butt
  17. That's because of sound. Funny thing is it's because of the loud 4 strokes that we are having those problems. I'm sure if he was out there on a 2 stroke nobody would have noticed. His riding area couldn't be seen by anybody, but they sure heard him.
  18. It looks to me to be a modified Beta minitrial 50. Not seen anything about it here in the U.S.A.

    06 & 07 Scorpa's

I can't say for sure. To be honest I became a Sherco/Scorpa dealer in late '07 and the SY 250 was one of the first few bikes I sold. I rode the bike in my yard after setting it up and I rode other '07's out at a trial, but didn't spend enough time on them to tell all the differences between the 07 & 08. I will say I just got the '08 and rode it in a trial this last weekend and I was very impressed with it in the sections I believe the main difference in the '07 & '08 are the forks. The '08 has the larger 40mm Marzocchi forks & the '07 the 38mm Piaioli's

    06 & 07 Scorpa's

Sorry, never had my hands on one of those. From what I remember it looks mostly like the '07 only the graphics are slightly different and the frame is a lighter grey color. First year with the black rims.
  21. Just off my memory (I may be wrong). Andrew didn't stick around for Sunday, I don't know why not. 1 Cody Webb 2 Colton Haaker 3 Reid Davis 4 Harry Oswald 5 Micheal Wenger 6 Ian Delaney
  22. I think I took home at least 50 pounds of sand in the trailer and my truck got a major sand blasting Cody did take the easy win on the Sherco 3.2 4t. Colton Haaker was second though he really seemed struggle in the Sunday exhibition sections. Local boy Ried Davis was third. 14 year old Ian Delaney also put in great rides in his first attempt in the big leagues. He got himself through many sections that even the older more experienced riders struggled with. Cody Webb Reid Davis Ian Delaney

Having owned both a 4rt and a 3.2 4t that dyno chart shows exactly how the bikes feel when you ride them.

    Importer Direct

Pete, All those guys are still around, except for John. I came to SoCal trials in 2003 and never met him. I know Mark reads Trials Central though. Your right about the mailing lists. We have been keeping old members or anybody interested in trials on the list, not just current members. I'm not sure about going back further or who has the list. The trials that I am responsible for I always add a vintage class, but usally nobody rides. We should also include the ARMHA riders on the mailing list. Also when I was out riding one day I came back to my truck to find all the SCTA club stuff--Since that day I have been the SCTA Pres. Good the hear from old members.
