Just chasing setup and fork seal replacement on Marzocchi fork 40 mm that are on gasgas, ossa and sherco 6 day. Anyone know where to get a copy or advice on set up to make rebound quicker etc?

Does the ohlins shock fit in the 2011 shock without any mods required? Am surprised only one reply, thought that lots of people would have said something?

Hi,
Looking at buying an after market shock for my 2010 sherco cause lets face it, the original is far from the best of the pack. Given that a TRP and an Ohlins are the same price, was wondering which was better. Looking for something that will rebound quickly yet be plush on drop offs.
Or are there any other options?

Sorry about my errors in the post. I was not meaning to cause any offense or to make Gas gas or yourself look bad so if that has happened i am sorry. I think the Raga is a fantastic bike, i have ridden a few of them in the past and they are great. I knew that they were significantly different to the 2010 but was unsure of the differences between the 11 model. Thanks for the information.

As the title suggests i am curious as to the Difference between 10 Raga and 11 Pro. Given by the time they arrive in Australia it is only a few months before the 11 arrives. Wondering if it is worth the extra cost, $2000.
The only differences i can note are the colour scheme, the handle bars and higher compression head.
And really if that is all then $2000 dollars will buy the head for the pro model and many other performance parts.
so my question is what are the real differences to justify the extra money and is it worth it?

I have bought an after market braided brake line as was not sure if the Sherco's line was braided or not!!

As the title suggests i am after thoughts and experiences about what brand of brake pads are the best. Looking for pads that bite so dont care about pad life, i want to stop on a dime and i have heard that pads can make all the difference. any suggestions on disc type, brand or treatment would also be greatly appreciated.

Ok so what could be wrong with a factory bike when the production bikes seem to be ok, what is different? Lack of power? The power curve?? any ideas?

I have heard that if you fill it with water and put it in the freezer then the pressure when the water expands will remove it. May have to do this a few times though.

I know some say it doesnt matter if 4 or 5 weight oil, but if the number refers to viscosity then going from 4 to 5 weight is a 25% increase. Surely that alone would effect the fork action. I did some maths and gave a value to each ml of oil going in each fork.
Lets say that for each ml of 4 weight oil is given a value of 4 then the Right leg has a value of 1480 and the Left leg has a value of 1540. If the forks were filled with 5 weight and the same rule (but each ml = 5) applied then Right leg has a value of 1850 and the Left leg has a value of 1925!
A table may help
Right 370ml
fork
4 weight = 1480
5 weight = 1850
Left 385 ml
fork
4 weight = 1540
5 weight = 1925
Surely this will make a difference!
To get around this problem perhaps it is best to mix 5 weight and 2.5 weight of the brand of oil Sherco recommend!
If so then this is how it works out.
For the right
5 weight 222 mls
2.5 weight 148 mls
For the left
5 weight 231 mls
2.5 weight 154 mls
Then same volume and same viscosity. Or have i sat up all night thinking for nothing??

After some help.
Had to change the fork seals on my 09 sherco and ever since i did the forks are rubbish. The front end feels heavy and difficult to bounce around. I put 330ml of motorex oil in each leg.
Any advice on why they are so rubbish. The bike is basically brand new, a few (3 trials).

When ever i get anew bike i always add an in line fuel filter, they are a must.

Just finished watching the Duke DVD reviews of the indoor and outdoor 09 world championship. While previous years reviews i thought have been poor, the 09 series are terrible. The angles and footage of the out door sections are shot as if by an amature. The indoor review fails to show all the sections. These reviews get worse each year. Why is this the case? There used to be different companies that released such reviews, one in particular that was very good, had Woody Hole as narrator. I for one will no longer waste my money on such poor quality DVDs. Interested on other people's thoughs about these DVDs.

Here in Australia there are no longer any of the top riders using a four stroke. I guess money is a factor (also seemed to complain that they were more difficult to ride), but also the only world riders on them anymore are the Repsol riders, and those bikes are so far from standard or what we public can buy (i know the other riders bikes are different from stock but the gap is not so large). What is scary is I wonder how those riders (Bou, Fugi, Saiz) would go on another make and a 2 stroke. Speaking of this, what bike will they ride in the future? I hear montesa are no longer producing their 4rt, so what will be ridden by Bou and Fugi beyond 2010? Did they buy the surplus stock and will they use them for a few more years?
Anyone got any answers to these or heard anything?

I know you said you are set on a 4 stroke but perhaps there is a reason why there are no other riders at the world level riding a 4 stroke, other than the montesa, which i think is a long way from what we can buy. The 2 strokes are just as modern as the 4 strokes. Here in OZ there are not any top level riders who ride a 4 stroke anymore. Any way that is my two cents worth as you requested!

Anyone know what happened to Motocross digital Magazine? It had good trials tests and reports on all the indoor and outdoor world rounds. It says that the publication has been suspended. I thought it was really quite good.

I keep mine on my 08 290 but it is from the 06 model sherco as it is far better than the latter model ones.

I have cleaned it out with the air compressor, changed the fuel and the tank has been cleaned. I do runn an in line filter and maybe that needs to be replaced or not used at all

sounds like it is running out of petrol and it pings at high revs. To keep it from stalling the mixture screw is nearly all the way in. if i wind this screw out it gets even worse. tried a new plug and the needle clip is in the middle position.
