`For example, in my premix I only use full synthetic Belray H1R`

First off the stock kill button/ light switch should just be changed to a kill button. That`s the first thing I do on any bike. Go back to the 35 it will help with the pinking. ( cleaning a carb and air box is the first thing you do on any used bike) I`d pull the water pump off and inspect the impeller. Once you know the cooling system is working , check the rest of the electronics. Used bikes require work first, then riding.

Yeah, I did the manly thing and waited two months before going to the doctor. Two months of not doing much since I could not breath right. Twenty minutes of my doctor putting my ribs back in place and instantly I could breath again. Besides a bottle full of pain meds for the next crash that really hurts!

No, the Beta`s always had a good pop just at idle. And more mas means slower response.
-
Did you hit the ground funny? 2- 8 weeks.
-
Actually your crank looks like the earlier rev3 models. The later ones had quite a bit of plastic. The 250 and 270 always had a good pop to the exhaust on a good running Beta. Have you messed with the timing?
-
You are talking a 9 year span. Do you have a 2005 or older?
-
That is a 2002 which is better. The rev3`s were great bikes. Will make a good starter bike. Looks good, except the skid plate has been pounded on and is that a nick on the right fork tube?

They used to be the importer before, most knowledgeable on the old Betas.

No go ride it for a half hour. If it still feels like its dragging burn it hard in fourth gear!
-
That is why the `pro` transmission can be ordered complete.

There is a small hole that feeds to the piston, sounds like it may be blocked. Maybe a small wire. I usually pull a wire from my wire brush.

To playwithgravity, Too bad you missed Arizona and the NM events. In New mexico we actually had a Tv commercial and the event was held at a ski area that is remote, but still very accessible. Very steep loop for the spectators, but the ski lift was running. It was pretty cool that the section I scored Saturday was within a 200ft from the top of the lift. I ended up with a lot of spectators at about 9200ft with a most awesome view.(Mrs. Meyerpeters about had a nervous breakdown from the ski lift ride up!) Quite entertaining.
We had 1 section for the whole weekend that Pat was the only rider to get through. Otherwise the Pro`s had good point spread for the sections. Luckily only a few small showers. The experts had a few almost too hard. My section sunday was hard and long. So the pro`s and Experts raced through the final half. Most finishing with less than 5 seconds to spare! Great event.

The needles should not of fallen out. I believe that there is a new single bearing. Was this bike just recently bought? The kick start pawl is usually pretty obvious if broken.
-
Best thing is it is cooling. Have you checked to see if it is wired to stay on?
-
The fan usually runs like that. Have you checked the water level since the rebuild. And a 140 is just a little lean at sea level. I would suggest a 145. 150 was stock.
-
Unscrew the adjustment bolt all the way. Sounds like it`s not returning enough.

`On a hot summer day, on a mountain road, with plenty of throttle, even a trial bike will get hot.` Quote from guys.
Yeah I just melted the inside of a Raga middle pipe two weeks ago on a steep mountain road. I was blowing out hot aluminum chunks.

Ben if your plug is white, I would try one step bigger main just to be safe. Sounds like you might like to ride the trails , not always just slow trials work.
-
Thanks Lazer, I liked all your input! I checked our old Raga compared to my `new` vintage Fantic. The old cable clutch was lighter! Might have to do the mod also.
-
You can get away with out the two springs for a while. You said you are a new rider. Once you start riding bigger obstacles or longer hills it will be a problem. First time you slam your manhood into the tank, put the springs back in. It`s an easy clutch to begin with, work on your grip.
-
She`s been stuck before! Not good, but if it is running fine you will get by for awhile! New (re-chromed cylinder) and new piston is not cheap.
-
A knocking at all speeds is probably a piece off the kick start gear traveled to the primary gear. (big gear on the back of the clutch) Usually sounds like a rod knocking, hardly visible by the eye. Some times you need to take an eyeglass to see it.
-
If your clutch is hard, I would be looking at the correct finger height to make it lighter pull. Changing the spring is a good upgrade, but if the clutch pak is not in spec it will not change much. I think changing the cover just to go to the mineral oil is a waste of dollars unless you have issues with the original set up.
