The factory model is preferred. More power, less weight, more bling. What is overlooked is the 3 position handlebar mounts.
2016 Factory 250, will be getting 2018 Factory 250.
The 300 has more power, but the 250 has more zip which makes it feel lighter.
-
Buy the Factory, you get way more for your dollars. My buddy was being cheap and bought the standard model last year and was quite disappointed. His son rides a 2017 Factory 300. So he see`s the difference every time he goes riding. Not any real changes to the 2018, so the Factory is by far the better deal. My son also rides one and loves it.

Been using a van most of my life. (45 years in trials) Why spend money to have something in your way. You just need tie down mounts. The bike does not need to touch anything, and quit worrying about sacking the springs. You should be buying a new bike or replacing the springs anyways.
-
You could bypass the carb issue by laying the bike on its side, (Fuel on) pick it back up after about 15 seconds and you should see some fuel spilled. This should prime the cylinder with fuel. It should start within 3 kicks. If it is electrical, you just gave it a dose of too much fuel.

So what happened with wiring the headlight?
-
Knowing the carb model does nothing for your search. You could of taken your existing jets to any motorcycle shop and either they would have them or could order them. Googling Mikuni short hex takes about 10 seconds. By the way did you replace the plug yet as that might have been your real problem. Info at http://www.betausa.com/content/support

You might want to pull the flywheel and check the wood rough key has not sheared.
-
Only the very good riders can do this well. Like 1% of trials riders. Us mortals still use both tires. Starting off on trials bicycles seems to help.
-
First it takes years of practice and lots of crashing. Find yourself a nice dirt ledge, click it up to 3rd gear, dump the clutch and jump. There you have crash number one. Next time get the front end up first.
-
All the way up to the steering stem. it is packed tight.
-
It`s a short hex used in many bikes over the years. You can remove yours just from the bottom of the carb, 6mm wrench.

145 main and the 27.5 pilot

I would be interested. I will pm you.

These carbs are basically the same used on all the small 4 strokes for the last 30 plus years. You just are not used to this adjustment being there as they come plugged or capped. (due to emission standards) They are on 4 wheelers, three wheelers and motorcycles. They are fuel screws. You can never go by an owners manual as things are lost in translation. In is lean, out is more fuel.
PS You did not move the fuel valve to prime?
-
You are grounded somewhere. Is the bike completely put back together? Did you use a new plug.
-
Out is more fuel, in is less fuel. It is nice as it is numbered.

You really need to ride both. My son has a 300 Beta with all the bells and whistles. But the family I work for has a 2017 4rt, 4 2016`s and about 5 2006`s. For the most part I prefer the Beta. If you want full power get the Factory model. I really like the 300rr over the std 4rt which I have ridden both the 2016 and 2017. The Beta is a better fit if you are taller, my son is pushing 6 `5`. Either four stroke is a blast on the trail vs my lowly 250 Beta 2 stroke that I still prefer.
-
That pop pop is from being lean, tartist should have tried the 127.5 while you were fiddling.
-
A lever extension on the arm is all we ever did. Which seemed light enough. Do you have a new clutch cable? That would be the first item.
-
Just ride more events. Do not worry about the score, and eventually you will find someone to ride with.

This should help. http://shercousa.com/pdfs/Sherco_Engine_Teardown_and_Assembly_Manual.pdf

Take a picture of each side of the motor for us too see. If not, take it to a mechanic.

It leaks, replace it as you seem to have had this pronlem for awhile. That said Beta rear brakes have always sucked. Wish I knew why. My first Beta was a 89 tr34. The revs were better, and my 16 factory both brakes suck. My 04 Raga"s were always great. Gas Gas always had good brakes. My sons 15 4t are good and firm, but they have no feel.
Recently I noticed that the rear wheel alignment was pretty bad and now my rear are better. I have done everything I could for the front. Time to find an ajp replacement for both the m/c and caliper. Good luck.
