  1. Thanks for that info, I will say the bore looks fine,It hasn't seen much use since it was rebuilt, I was just going to fit new rings as piece of mind and noticed as you would expect the bore is shiny where the rings have been.It was just that article which I found that suggests it was a bad thing to Hone and it got me thinking.
  2. Could anyone give me some guidance, I am about to re ring my two stroke engine,it has an iron bore and rings, most people say the bore should be de glazed but i found this article which suggests that its the worst thing you can do CLICK HERE
  3. If the only way to start it is with the pilot air screw in and the choke out it would indicate a lack of fuel from carb one way or another or too much air getting in. If its the carb then I would have thought it should be easy enough to find the problem, have you checked the float bowl level? if the level in the bowl is very low then this could be the problem.Check that the throttle slide is also bottomed out at the end of its travel, look down the carb bore to check this as its not always obvious that it is, this could give similar problems on start up.
  4. It does sound as if its running weak, could it be pulling in air from a cylinder base gasket, crank case halves, inlet manifold,or any where else?
  5. Yes the old dt125/175 cover will fit and I think there is another one.. the yz125 which should fit but they are very hard to come by in the UK.
  6. I totally agree, its OK to say get a job or you will lose your benefits, but if there are not enough jobs out there people will get desperate and this will lead to an increase in crime and civil unrest. The government needs to get this country producing again, there is no question that this country will have one of the most cheapest labour sources around. It wont be long before we will be the ones making the cheap clothing for the Chinese. The problem is as we all know this government will push ahead with a system thats going to fail, mainly because they are a bunch of idiots that think they know it all.
  7. No I doubt you coming to this country will lessen the number of Trials.
  8. Slapsot Yes I did go there before but the interview is new stuff, if you look at the repeats on all of the topics then you will find its all been repeated about a zillion times
  9. No that's not correct with have eight and two thumbs you chaps up north were never any good at counting.
  10. Nigel, the point is they have been noticed on their visits, and why would they not want to visit, just like our own to desire to visit other planets. And as for why visit Suffolk, if you have followed some of the press it would appear they de-activated some of the nuclear missiles on their visits. Just think about it, if we could prevent total destruction on another planet I think you would find that we would do the same.(nothing to do with holiday destinations...but you should visit Suffolk and Norfolk come to that as they are lovely places.)
  11. Well that is true, but if you watch the whole interview and it is very long I must admit, there are some very credible people saying they do exist. Perhaps the full understanding of what they are and where they come from is not known, but it does look like there is some proof of their existence.
  12. No Nigel to my knowledge they don't burn Witches here in Suffolk, for most of us we just marry them. Suffolk is known for UFO activity, did you not watch any of those interviews on the link? the problem with some people is that if there is no known explanation then the subject is rejected, bit like when our ancestors thought the world was flat(probably one of yours) and the guys that said no its round were all made fun of...but now we know. Even so, yes it was a funny reply, we do have a sense of humour here in Suffolk.
  13. Was just wondering if anyone else out there has watched this interview.I love any UFO stuff...have a look at this CLICK HERE

    I Dont Know.

Hi Squid, the whining sound could be coming from the clutch side, sometimes the clutch wobbles so much that the gears whine, perhaps even enough to prevent the engine running. have a check of the oil and perhaps remove the clutch case and inspect the gears inside. Don't think the carb would cause the fault you mention.
  16. I have some advice, America has too many bloody rules and they all seem to filter over to the UK, just stick a number on the WES exhaust and tell the guy at the test station its fine. You Yanks got no balls just lately!

    Wee Bit More

All makes sense now you should have said you was going to seal it up, we all thought you was a bit daft, as a matter of interest what made you choose the holly leaf shapes ?
  18. I hope your petrol tank never gets a hole in it.
  19. Looks kind of nice, so you wont be fitting it to the bike to do Trials on then?

    Lurching

Squid, you don't have much luck with that bike, it does sound like it could be the pilot jet, they will cause lots of low speed problems when they get partially blocked, I'm having some problems with my bike at the moment down to particles of fibre glass coming away from the tank (Sammy Miller type) and it sometimes blocks the pilot jet even with an in-line filter fitted. I have to keep removing the carb and blowing it through. A new pilot jet should only be about

    Fuel In Exhaust

Squid, I forgot the 125 tail pipe don't come apart.. as you mentioned. If the petrol cock shuts off then don't bother getting a new one, I would remove the gauze on the tap if its had it and fit a inline filter within the fuel hose line. Its worth noting you will probably always get some oil/petrol around the tail pipe or is yours excessive? another source of oil getting in the exhaust pipe is if the gearbox crank seal has had, but you would notice that you would be topping up the gearbox oil all the time.

    Fuel In Exhaust

Squid, it could be time to remove the exhaust system and give it a blast with a gas blow lamp to get rid of any excess fuel/oil that is inside the pipe, the tail section can hold loads in the packing which is best removed and replaced, you can use fibre glass loft insulation as it works just fine. If after doing this its still noticeable then as John mentioned its possible the float bowl needle is not shutting off the fuel very well which would be more of a problem if the petrol tank cock is not shutting off also. Get that exhaust off and have some fun with a blow lamp.
  23. Hi, anyone know of any very light oil l(5w) that's good for primary chain case lubricant. I have tried a mineral transmission fluid that was OK but did tend to let the plates slip after a short period which was noticeable on kick starting. I did wonder if Diesel oil would be any good?

    Carb Jet

Squid, just in case your confused the pilot jet thats been mentioned that is in the carb body is screwed in and fixed, the mixture screw thats on the outside, the small brass screw with a slot, should be 1 & 1/4 turns out for a starting point(125cc bike), if it runs clean then this is OK. The mixture screw and pilot jet work together to give a correct mix of fuel and air from low revs, if its set wrong the bike will not pick up cleanly from low revs.

    Is It A Carb Ting?

If your bike runs on slow tick over and your happy with it then that's the correct setting, all that the throttle stop screw does is to push the slide up or down to give you a setting on the revs that you prefer. The mixture can be played around with from the 1&1/2 turns out. Have a look on the net for carb tuning its probably better explained by others. Just checked on that mixture and it shouild be 1&1/4 turns out for the 125cc but it is only a start point.
