  1. I will remind all here that the NATIONALS are like Bacon and Eggs! The chicken participated, but the pig was committed! One might find many that are not up to it, yet there may be others that can commit! Pick your poison or stick with your regional events! Nothing wrong with either! 6 of 10 huh? I could do that! If I wanted!
  2. I would not think anything would need to be "killer" but maybe something one of your "advanced riders" might well attempt. The challenge would be for your experts to get to the second 15 point gate without taking a dab(once he has done a few of the easy ones)! It is all a "tease" and a tradeoff! Some may throw caution to the wind and attempt everything, others may to conserve their entry points! Trials is funny in a way, as I have seen many dab on the easy stuff(brain fart) yet easily ride the bigger stuff. Everyone should be able to find their temptation and tease!
  3. I had to purchase another filler cap for my chainsaw too! Because I kept bashing the thing! Once again, big enough mallot and you are going to screw something up! I can already picture myself hopping about on the back wheel(happy as a little girl) on one of these, just like Caby! NOT!
  4. Well that is the type of thing that I suspect with the (alcohol induced softening or swelling) theory. As basically the seal simply relaxes. The subtile changes in pressure thay I induced with the "blow" test seem to confirm this. Of course, all the while you have bearings rattling about in there that start out with .003-.004 clearances from new! Add a bit of wear to those numbers and then you have a situation to where the seals must be able to retain enough reaction through tension to accomodate a constantly changing minor movement. Thus, if the seal is weak and "lazy" it cannot respond in time. As in Clav's posted engineering article, there are limitations to all seals, and even minor variations in composition could potentially effect their longevity in a particular application. I am just glad they are easy to change! What really p****s me off is this entire situation with the fuels! If one does a bit of research on this topic, it is all another lot of political hogwash that is costing all of us more money for negative results!
  5. So then all the Evo's 2T are running the Keihin(which i thought i recalled?) Can someone confirm this?

If there were a perfect bike out there, everyone would own it!(most are crap in one way or another) Paul did a good job on his accessment! And let us not forget that beyond that, most of it is up to the rider!
  7. I was not able to cross the exact number on the manufacturers website, yet still presumed black for standard nitrile, as yet Clav's country codes for colors may yet refute that in cases, the combination of the alcohol induced fuels by the users may yet confirm the suspicions and that in itself tells the story. The other thing that points directly to alcohol induced seal swelling is the fact that noone has ever mentioned any sighn of old age, heat, and hardening on the seals removed, as they seem quite flexable and compliant! Maybe a bit too !!!!
  8. I think this thing looks shockingly awesome! Not as bare bones as a gasser, with exception of the rad, but mostly well protected! If you put a hammerhead on it, he could still f--- up an anvil! How much is an evo frame/ gas tank! I still figure it may have a fuel pump in there, but that is no prob.
  9. Oh , everyone just rides their own classes. The gate difficulty is a separate yet related thing only, and the 5-10-15 thing may still relate to novice, int, advanced in difficulty, yet mostly experts and masters would be the ones able to tie them all together. Hope that helps, as it does take a lot of thought in layout!
  10. I am glad to see you considering this as it should be great fun for the club riders. Just a couple ov thoughts for you, yet you can play as you like. The basic NATC rules would apply, as in stop and hop, yet you cannot back up as that is still an offense. Ues of about two gates of each difficulty level per section should suffice. And even at a moderate level of difficulty for each, the total section stratagy is premier for the expert and master riders that want to try to pick up all them. Yet even a novice rider may attempt a 10 point gate in lew of trying to pick up both 5 point gates. Yet he may take only one 5 point gate to be safe. Have fun and save your bonus points! All good!

    Yea, Andy's your uncle,,,, Bob!
  12. Forgive my short memory, but did Beta not change over to the Kiehin carbs on the Evo's? Reguardless, on the jap carbs, the normal ideal effective range on the airscrews is between .5 and 1.5 turns out in order to obtain best idle and response. Getting outside this range could be an indication that a change of primary jetting is needed. Add, as they can be fairly sensitive and vary upon the day and the temps, small changes of 1/4 turn or so on the screw may be needed for optimal operation.
  13. I would ck with the importer to insure you have the proper pilot jet installed in the carb for your local! Too small a jet installed by the factory(emissions reasons) can cause poor pickup and the symptoms you describe. I do not know the preferred settings, yet you would be smart to inquire.

A quick check does indeed suggest thet both Borus a n Ringodog do indeed need to update their Members status!
  15. Dammit Zipper, how many times do I have to tell you!!!! BLOWJOB is just an expression!

All I can say is there does seem to be an Xispas advert on the Todotrial site! Yet when you get into USA and Canada, there seems to be nothing ! As well for TC it seems from the factory, nothing! All this seems to leave the rest of us in the English speaking world at a bit of a loss! It does seem to me thart Ringodog is not even a TC supporter! I am not sure about Borus, yet for the moment, I can fully understand the lack of bugets on both sides. I shall not get into all that, yet things are what they are for good reason! The entire trials population in Canada is small at best, therefore I would hope to see some type of negotiation going on here to at least find some median point. As I do not think Andy is dumb to the point, yet, you would be wise to inquire. Hopefull there could be something worked out. I spend my annual pittance toward this site just to work my ass off giving free advice when I can. Hopefully the results being better than the cost of entry for most! There must be some middle ground here. It stil takes money to make all this work, and I would suggest that you contact Andy directly to find a workable solution. Otherwise, we just need the facts that are not prohibited, nothing less, nothing more! And I shall not disagree. All I can say is do what you can.
  17. Thanks to Jamie for a PM reply, and I will get back to you. Getting back to the primary point of this thread being leaky seals, and the black ones in particular, I am not totally sure about all this , but it does seem the black nitrile seals may have been used on many or mots the later model bikes with the sealed bearings installed. Putting two and two together here suggests that the placement of the sealed bearings in front of the nitrile seals may indeed not provide total immunity to the effects of the alcohol induced fuels upon the seals. At least that that is my current theory! All that said, and the fact that I have been running the Oko 24 on a test bed for the 2.9 of late, I will tell you that with the Oko, I have noticed some wierd and unexplained fluxuations and hunting at times. (Getting back to Neo's deal) But for the most part, it seems to run loverly? Being the only weekend it has not rained that recall of late, I took the bike out in the back for a bit of running on Sunday and it happened again, yet only briefly, so while the bike was still up to temps, I decided to do the water test with it, yet no bubbles. I know this sounds silly, yet yanking the vent tube out of normal position for the water test, I cleaned it well and just decided to apply slight variations in pressure to the tube by mouth, just to see what happened, as the crankcase is a small volume area and one would think would build and hold small changes in vacume or presure with little signifigange as on filled the volume(sort of like blowing up a baloon with a straw). To my surprise, if i puffed into the tube, only slightly, it would puff back, filling my jowels with a fuel tasting vapor, slight, but there! More pressure and it stopped, induce a vacume and it would hold. Bubbles only incurred slightly after the blow and release! Would not expect this to happen. Now say what you like, but I have used that method to inspect vacume ck valves and such for proper operation for years, noting proper operation, yet I have never had a motor puff back at me under slight pressure! All that just tells me that mine are marginal, and could possibly be picked up by the OKO as well. I may be the first to admit to such crude methods of detction, yet within all this, it may well yet work! It is very sensitive! And maybe others that care to run the test can comment, yet I think I may just install Jamie's seals and re test. I am not too humble to try , so no smartass jokes here or you can go blow yourself! MC
  18. Yes, he does seem a good-un! If he werent so damn dense he might have read the other posts! Ok, let me just politely inqiure, JAMIE, DO YOU WANT TO SEND ME THEM OTHER SEALS YOU GOT AND I WILL SEND YOU SOMETHING IN EXCHANGE! Would you like some Tygon fuel hose, along with maybe some other bits?
  19. Do you wear size Large? in blue? pm me!
  20. Would have thought you would have taken the hint!

Personally, I do think there is a great delima here, as you see the entire thing revolves about the rules, yet lack of funds by most in the trials industry. There are no excess dollers to be put toward adverts in most cases it seems. And if so, those dollars are too small to qualify. At least on this side of the pond by any of the dealers. Yet without even adverts from the mfg., Xispa importers or isolated dealers do not stand a chance. If I were a Sherco dealer here, I could not either. What xispa need to do is get a few bikes out in the field(this costs money too) for folks to fondle. Yet it seems up to the dealers who cannot support things like free bikes and such. I would hope to see the Factory adverts here, at least. If nothing else!

    Keihin Needles

Try this to explain the dimensional differences , all in the diameter , length and taper. Needle chart I would stick with the jjh, but you canevan become a test pilot if you like! Combinations are baffling! AND fo rthose that think I am mad insisting upon dual vents, try looking at THIS
  23. I wish that were the case, but yet once again I do understand totally what you are stating here and have no total solution. I kinda figure things to vary a bit as things go, cause (on my sherco) I figure the alignment mark on the stator plate was put there by Leonelli, and the case was referenced by sherco, who knows? Mfg varience? And although Sherco do or did list a spec in MM btdc, I am now shy to use that as a reference.
