  1. Just as a little note after reading your thread, the no-toil product does seem very good. I have used it for several years now. In the US, it is marketed in the Honda motorcycle dealers under a Honda retail label which even clearly states that it is made by no-toil. Not sure about UK market. I cannot confirm that HRC is using it, but I cannot think of a reason not.
  2. Although I have had no problem with the bronze in the brake pedal, I am just not sure how it would react under the high pressure loading of the dog bone links? The "stiction" factor comes to mind as a possible issue. Sealing is still an issue as well, yet in the brake pedal, the grease is what repells the water and such. I have heard some older bikes used bronze bushings and such, not sure which or what, but they got away from it.
  3. There is only one Ok'ie that goes up to maximum altitude! On a Beta 4T! Good job Ronnie! What spring you running at 13000, I suspect about #3?
  4. As I do not have a 4T, all I can tell you are a couple things you might watch for. Poor venting of the gearbox due to a blocked hose I thinc can actually push the clutch slave back a bit, as it is sealed to the motor. On a 4T, I think there is a top vent that allows pressures to escape. Be sure these are clear and unrestricted. Under your stated set of conditions, high crankcase pressure may be developed! Seems there are actually few riders who can open these things up to begin with!
  5. I presume the old bearings are the "open" style? Might suggest a breakdown of the lube oil under high temps. These bearings are not well cooled in these motors or application. What oil are you using?
  6. I hear what you are saying, yet it seems the water and dirt that doo them in, as the sealing on those bearings is just ****! The sleeves just corrode accordingly! Although I have not seen them distorted due to their softness as such the brake pedal bush! Corrosion is only put off by the cleaning and fresh grease packing it seems! Cannot rely on the sealing! After going to a bronze bearing in the brake a couple years ago(greater load bearing surface) mine is still tight and working well under the lighter load subjected to.
  7. This is somewhat interisting, and Clav could be on to something! I can tell you for sure from my aircraft experience, rings are not rings! One can run soft(cast)rings in a hard(chrome ) bore OR hard (chrome) rings in a plain(steel) bore, yet never the two should mix or bad things happen. The Nicasil is a hard bore similar to chrome and I might suggest the rings are indeed quite soft and may wear rather quickly. In a way I like my well broken in '07 kicking over rather gently as compared to a new bike, yet it does suggest a loss in compression. Although I tend to dislike the Keihins for being finiky in a general sense, they may just bee that sensitive! So, in theory, the seals are not the only thing that are in the motor that keep in pressures under positive or negative flux! The piston rings actually have to do the same thing as for the most part, themselves and the piston are what is creating the volumetric displacement to either suck mixture into the case or blow it up top to begin with, thusly, if this constant were to vary(weak rings), I suppose the overall mixture could as well, once exhaust backpressure was factored in because one could then displace the other and cause a lean condition as the partially burned mix takes advantage. All theory,
  8. I'm still with Zippy and the blind ****ers!
  9. .> > > Ad Was Posted to Craig's List Personals: To the Guy Who Tried to Mug Me in Downtown Savannah night before last. Date: 07-27-09, 1:43 A M EST. I was the guy wearing the black Burberry jacket that you demanded that I hand over, shortly after you pulled the knife on my girlfriend, threatening our lives and me. =2 0> > You also asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings. I can only hope that you somehow come across this rather important message. First, I'd like to apologize for your embarrassment when I drew my pistol after you took my Jacket. The evening was not that cold, and I was wearing the jacket for a reason. My girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber Model 1911 .45 A CP pistol for my birthday, and we had picked up a shoulder holster for it that very evening. Obviously you agree that it is a very Intimidating weapon when pointed at your head wasn't it? I know it probably wasn't fun walking back to wherever you'd come from bare footed since I made you leave your shoes, cell phone, and wallet with me. [That prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again]. After I called your mother, or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, I explained the entire episode of what you'd done. Then I went and filled up my gas=2 0tank as well as four other people's in the gas station on your credit card. The guy with the big motor home took 150 gallons and was extremely grateful! I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Vinnie Van Go Gos, along with all the cash in your wallet. [That made his day!] I then threw your wallet into the big pink "pimp mobile" that was parked at the curb ... after I broke the windshield and side window and keyed the entire driver's side of the car. Later, I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell phone. Ma Bell just now shut down the line, although I only used the phone for a little over a day now, so what's going on with that? Earlier, I managed to get in two threatening phone calls to the DA's office and one to the FBI, while mentioning President Obama as my possible target. The FBI guy seemed really intense and we had a nice long chat (I guess while he traced your number etc.). In a way, perhaps I should apologize for not killing you ... but I feel this type of re tribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well as you try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues, and can only hope that you have the opportunity to reflect upon, and perhaps reconsider the career path you've chosen to pursue in life. Remember, next time you might not be so lucky. Have a good day! Thoughtfully yours, Alex
  10. Vai has his own technical style, ok, but back to basics, I like basics! This studio version from SRV, combined with the graphics, still employs the meat and soul of the song, even with his own graceful style. This song could go on all night on repeat and never offend me really! Does anyone here recall when LP's or cassettes would just doo that? Till the morning! More SRV
  11. Poor kid, thought dad would have it running right before! Bet he has a Beta 80 in his sights already! Just trying to help you out, Glenn!
  12. I am no poly -sci major, there is soo much BS it is mind boggling! Give Ireland back to the Irish, I think was the song! To be honest, I have no idea what happened to the Scotts after Braveheart! Maybe they are still knackered! I think it was taxation without representation that caused a lot of ****! What was that movie i recently seen? The Patriot or something? Who was raping and pillaging who? All I know is I did not get a chance to screw anything! What I hear the Russians had a better time on the Germans than most! Probably well deserved really for the people of the time who blindly followed the idiot!! All morals lost!
  13. Something like the Mityvac is the way to go. You should be able to adapt to your "plug" hole adapter. Sealing around inlet and exhaust should actually be easier, as a small plastic plate with some mastic putty should be self sealing under vacume! Remember you are looking for small leaks! Pulling large vacume makes things seal betteron the seals! Light suction, 2-3 in. hg. can reveal things that might otherwise be missed! Put your mouth on the hose even! Tounge against hose! Should hold! Might need a long hose if you try this at a trial, so you can sit up in a manly way whilst sucking!

    Gearbox Shims

Good job then! Hopefully you will not have my wife over for cleaning while everything is laid out in proper order! It all varies you know, but I often wonder if one would be better off with a light hone job and a move up on the piston from say A to B. This stuff requires some specialty equipment for proper measures and honing, but then again, if the bore looks good, stuff a new piston in it and go! Only reason I question it is some just seem a bit rattely. Oh well? So did you figure out the bearing thing? Now someone says the sealed bearings not from Sherco may hold grease rather than oil? Personally, this gets to the point where I just order the factory parts when needed. Life is too short!
  15. That is a good question? War is hell, and bad stuff happens! I do believe there is a proportional relationship between the women and children that might be killed, and those said who happen to be carrying live grenades. All relative. Personally, I would keep him on the payroll in the case there was another nasty job needing done! Al this BS about "rules of engagement" and such has gotton far too many killed on our sides. Thankfully, they managed to smoke some pirates lately! Keep up the good work! Most the modern terrorists will hide behind anything, your kids, their kids , your religion, their religion, your schools even! I just hope someone takes a stand.

    Gearbox Shims

Well, it sounds to me that you have a good idea what to look for, yet not sure where exactly you will find it. Is seems there are some thickness measures on the shim washers in the parts book listings, maybe not enough to guage everything. Hopefully it will become more evident when inspected. As far as the kicker gears go, I seem to recall some weird buzz when the bike was leaned right and Ryan sent me a gear. I think it was the kickstart pinion M151, yet too many years have passed. All i recall is that it fixed the problem and I never really seen the machining issue with it. Keep us posted ! MC
  17. One can tell those that have been married a long time! Birthdays, Christmas, Easter spring fling!
  18. Well, if you had shot the ******* a long time ago it would not be an issue now, would it! No less open to politicians! Terrorism has now come to play on a world wide basis! Wanna play? Keep tolerating it! Put them in your jail and support them! Let them complain about how they are mistreated! All why I say that, I am sure there a are a few other mass murders and such on the keep at the taxpayers expense at the same time. What is another. Why single out a poor terrorist! Poor *******s are sick, you know, need medical help! Just because some sicko cut someone up and stuck them in the frige does'nt mean they are all bad you know! Let's reform them! I shall refrain from the more graphic! Not pretty! Not happening anyway!
  19. Sounds as though you really may need to! Good common maintenance it is! Add, if not done thououghly, can screw you! Give the bike a good pressure washdown, then remove the carb and break it(lower bowl screw) over a clear plastic jug or bowl just to see what comes out(without contaminating your sample) and you may be surprised.! Not that that is the end of it, it needs to be spotless in and out by the time you are done!

    Gearbox Shims

Mmmm, no idea really! Main thing is if they are there! As the bearings are what the shafts really shim against, there should be some normal play, as it seems my countershaft (output) will move in and out just a bit, guessing .5mm max. For things to lock up suggests the engagement of two gear elements at the same time. That would tend to narrow things to the shift drum and forks or the shaft with two forks, countershaft I think if it were the transmission proper. Anyway, excessive sideplay in any of these should be apparent even with removal of the clutch side cover alone I would think, and duplicateable on the bench! Hopefully no one has been in there and displaced things in the past! Don't forget to ck the lickstart gear! Hope that helps, MC
  21. When I was young, I climbed ropes!
  22. Well, I am offically vintage now, but the bike is not! As an old MX'er, I did get a chance to ride many ov the vintage bikes when new, yet it was not my style at the time. And although I should add I have a certain attraction for the old iron, which is really what got me back into riding trials at about year 2000. I just wanted something to putt around on! Found a modern bike! Well, all I can say is that an old bike really does not compare, although they do have their own group who still loves them. The new bikes win hands down in most respects, barring a seat, but you adjust to that quickly! If I had an old one now, it would just sit mostly, so I simply cannot and have not brought myself to do the vintage thing. Events are scarce around here too. Although we still allow a vintage class at the club trials. If you have been bitten, you will go with your gut feelings. Try to get to some modern events for a ride. Watch a few sections and such. The modern bikes are amazing, but I usually recommend sticking with a good 200- 250 even for an experienced rider to learn and adjust. Many of the others can bee too much to deal with. Cheers, MC
  23. Yep, no joke, he is an imitation cajun! Living in NY!
  24. Actually, as I cannot pull up the u-tube at work, I had meant to get back to this link and did not untill tonight. WoW! This guy has some real music listed on the tube! And a good name to go with it! Not sure where this guy is from yet, music to me seems a bit cajon, creole, with a good rap that is comprehendable, and a bit of reggae? Means he is probably from New York(joke)! Instead of New Orleans! Bit repetitive, yet I can deal with it, as my taste in music is pretty wide and varied.
  25. At least the taxpayers are releaved of the burdon of care and or burial! Could cost a bundle! Last I seen here, cost something like 40k per year to the taxpayer to keep someone in a maximum security prison. That number has probably risen. All this complasancy has let to the fact there are no work details(chain gangs) for the betterment of the state. We still kill them off by lethal injection when possible in Texas! Hanging is said to be too cruel! Hard labor too harsh! Pity! There should be more of it, within reason, your political voice remains, yet reason and reasonability should prevail. There have been mistakes made on some convictions as well, and new DNA evidence has cleared a few, too few to mention really. Point being, you better have a pretty good case, or you are a goner in my book! Screw all that prison crap, take your just due! Why should I support you?
