  1. No, that is the idle speed setting, the other up front is the mix adjuster. You would want to play with it it a bit to get your best running and throttle response. Even 3.5 turns out is not neccessarily too far. As it IS a fuel screw, it can be somewhat sensitive, and once in range, changes of 1/8 to 1/4 turn make a difference. All settings done on a motor that is up to normal temps!
  2. Sounds normal for that to me, I think you have it fixed!
  3. Can you still see your "thingie"? I think the ability to spot your "thingie" is directly proportional to your health and well being! And if you cannot, then you may be in trouble(just too friggin fat!) If you must lift something to find it, and that is your daily workout regeme, you may be totally screwed! You need to push away from the dinner table a bit more often!

Hi Brian, so this TL still has "pionts"? add mechanical advance? Maybe you can run some MMO or ATF through her to unstick the rings? About 50/50 with the oil I would think! Couple of good runs and flushes may help!
  5. Yes, well looks good! So where is the trials stuff on the website?
  6. I have ridden them and sold them as well, as an economy alternative for the kids bikes and novice riders. To me the front seems much like the Dunlop, does not have the sidewall flex of the Mich. Sharp precision feel. The rear seems to work, yet grip on wet rock not as good as the Dunlop or Mich. for some reason. Long story seems the same as most in that one gets what one pays for, all up to personal choice and usage really.

My gosh Brian, I thought YOU were the Honda man! From the mouthes of babe(s) too, I knew that Jamie was good for something! A quick study he is! You well know I cannot spell half those !!!!
  8. Hi, No different on the mix, many use 80:1 ratio. Look at the motor number, below and aft of the carb, should start awth SH290 -----. Super unleaded, yes at 98 ron
  9. Nothing wrong with that mount!
  10. I got the 24 today, looks like it needs some massaging but i am out of town for the weekend on the French Riveria(Oklahoma Lake) Came with a 45/111, JJH setup? Should work, as with the boyesens i have had to run a leaner main jet at 110 to get total cleanout and rediculous revs that are totally unusable! Went back to the 115 on the Dellorto just to add a rev limiter so it never really cleans out and goes to 13000!!!! \ With the smaller carb, I may advance the timing a bit to find the balance in this power curve on the 2.9? Still quick with a bit less HIT is where the 250 exceeds! And at the same time the 2.9 can be torquey but more of a handfull in the revs. My private jet is waiting! Gotta go! (Honey, can you fire up the diesel, I have had a few!)

Having ridden a number of the 200 Beaters over the years, I always liked the 200 motor, just not on the Rev3! Being the TRUE 200, it has some guts, and for many it is a really good motor! For Billycraig, it is a 125 on steroids! Has most everything they lack! For Outlaw Dave they are capable and docile and really good fun to ride! For YOU, I think it would be fun for a while and you would get bored with it, unless you want to totally stretch yourself and the bike and start riding it like a 125! Problem is it does not want to make the top end power as much as a 125, seems tuned for torque. If the 250 seems too quick for you after the mont, you will quickly adjust to that as well, or de-tune a bit(heavy flywheel? ). Otherwise I think you(as a bit of a nutter) will be disappointed with it in the long run. And I say all this with full knowledge that I myself would not mind owning the 200, but I am not in the market so will stick with what I have. M2C
  12. I think Biff is still a bit too young to remember the 70's, but there were three major brands, Bultaco, Montesa and Ossa! Coming out of Spain! Bultaco had the stuff it seemed! Later the Japs tried to jump in, and they sold some real fun lumps like the TL 125 and 250! Totally useless collectable pieces of historic fun junk! When Yamaha came out with the TY's , things did change! They did work! Created major upsets!

Answers: No Good Probably, knowing you! They have a warranty! Ditto! Possible Stupid is as stupid does! Do you wear the tities?/ Lycra/ Spandex? Along with the white booties? I would stick with the 250! Good bike! Or 300 4T!$$$
  14. I do not recall the tank graphick being too difficult, i would keepa hair drier on hand if you need to heat and stretch things a bit. In cool weather I just use rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle as it evaporates better in lower temps. The mudguard can be a pain!
  15. Would that be from Classictrial/ fellow? I found one on ebay, god only knows whats in it, but I do have the K here to swap jets and such if needed. Finding jets locally is a real pain in the butt!
  16. No Honda hater here, they are what they are(at least what we can buy) , not the same bike as the WTC bikes as promoted by the top riders! It(the standard) is in many ways a great bike for many, yet not a top performer in most respects. All this struck me like a hammer after one day at the trials when i was very tired, got off the Sherco an onto the Mont to try some sections. I might as well have worn training weights about myself! That weight really shows up at end of day! Standard power is fine for me! I like the Laia map, as I am a pussy! Corse she can kick most guys asses as well! Buy the bike! Only 10K here!
  17. Well, that is good to hear from bob as well!!!! Goes to reaffirm a few things i have tried to point out here based upon my experience, mainly the fact there is littlle varience upon application. The experiment with the 4T seems to reinforce that point, yet I still think it could be improved upon using the SPS mods, or sleving down an SPS carb possibly. In my experience, the CV carb as used on the Beta is tyhe best yet on a 4T! It will chug LOW, still respond when a Mont flames out! I say that, having ridden the Betas briefly in both 250 ang 300 configs, but I do have both a Suzy 250 quad and a Yam 225 Serow sitting here with basically the same setup. They work well if one has room to fit them on the bike! Not happening on a Sherco! Minimizing spitback on the 4T is key, and I had predicted that the 24 may work well, much here is a tradeoff for top performance, yet once again, I know few folks that can ride a 3.2 at WOT as well, and need that much power. Same as the 2.9, most folk just cannot handle the power! The Quickness! And better progression is just better! I still have reservations about the fitment of the carbs on the Sherco, very tight fit with the bowl hitting the cases! I do have something of an idea of using the 5mm spacer plate off the '05 2.9 and putting a bit of bevel on it, putting it on the carb side of the reed block, then a bit of angled spotfacing on the carb adapter to accept the angular difference, not too much, maybe 5% or so might help. OR even doubling them up? To obtain that 10mm difference that Marlintec pointed out? I do have a nice recommendation for an inlet rubber that seems to work well, off an aircraft, reinforced inlet hose. The friggin thin is still stuck tight to my K carb (without a clamp) from 4-5 years ago! MC
  18. This one made it through the filters, just had to open it, figured it from TFT when i seen the header! my dear one good day,i am Richard Oformi 20years age from Sierra Leone.i am writing you from republic of Ivory Coast where i have been taking refuge after the brutal war and murder of my parents by the rebels during the renewed fighting in my country.Because of the war my late Father sold his shipping company and deposited US$8,000,000.00 million dollars in his foreign account with one of the bank here in Ivory Coast. Please, due to the political situation here in Ivory Coast now.please i need your urgent attention to assist me transfer this money to your country for investment so that i can relocate to your country and join you as one family, for my better life future as i am here alone as an orphan,i am willing to offer you 20% of the total sum personally for your helping me out of this situation.kindly reply me back and call me on this number +22547280024 for more direction in good confidential. regards, Richard Oformi.
  19. I know what you are saying, but in reality it just seems different. Yamaha put up what, a 20 year old + motor for the groupies, with no WTC support. Then Honda comes in with the big bucks , high tech that none can afford and buys the best riders and support! WTF are they doing for you as a rider? If the budget is cut, let them ride stockers that everyone else gets!
  20. Job well done! Congrats to them, they did the deal with honor! Add a lot of determination!
  21. Uhhhhmmmm, good stuff there! Seems there are indeed others that have taken interise in these things! Of course, I would have been on the forefront if I could have gotton Neo off his ass in time, mind you I am as cheap as they come, therefore I have not had either the time or dosh to run this experiment! Marlintec is very good on these things, pity my Spanish is not as good as his English! Tuning different bikes to different riders has been the issue with me, as many, including myself have had difficulty adapting to many of the high performance bikes out there. My '07, 2.9 is butter smooth, with some massaging of the carb, reeds and timing. Still has a bit of an aggressive midrange hit. Finding that proper balance of power with the larger motor is even more difficult when one gets into the 270, 280, 290, 300 class bikes it seems. How does one find a good working compromise for ones old tired ass?? Not to mention a newbie? I have always considered the Jap carbs to be better mixers, yet the 28mm K carb was just simply more powerful accross the board when I tried it against the 26 Dellorto, just too much, thus the interist in the smaller carbs. The entire next question IS can the 24 OKO supply good controlability and power at the lower rev ranges to keep a 2.9 rider happy and full of controllable torque in the lower rev ranges that us punters seldom exceed in the sections! RELIABLY! ? I think things are looking very positive here, with the 24mm being a very progressive yet power limiting device. I do not know many that can ride a 2.9 that takes advantage of the 26mm Dellorto power. Maybe we will flatten the power curve here a bit? I suppose I shall get one to play with, seems good to go if the initial response was positive. Thing is, it seems to me to be easier to bore one out to 25 or 26 than it is to reduce a 28 to whatever? Maybe I need to search for a reamer as well? Could 25 be the majic number? Doubt that would be accross the board! Then we get into the 4T thing, that is another topic of which I share great interist and little money! But I do think there may be great potential there? Ask Marlintec if he has sleved down a 28 to about 25 on the newer SPS carbs to get a result? That would be good, maybe?
  22. Ok, collecting thoughts here. Firstly, The balace tube on the intake side seems to me to be mostly emmissions related, and with the (what seems) elimination of the overflow tube on the bottom of bowl, that just means fuel will get recycled to the inlet and flood the bike if things get upset. I am not sure one needs either, really, as other carbs like the dellorto do not. There could be some other influence on bowl chamber pressure with that positioning on the intake side that effect fuel flow. Secondly, if given a pref, I would not run ANY, tubes on the bowl vents on Any carb, their job is to provide atmospheric pressure into the bowl, which works against the manifold vacume to manage things. As they are basically a direct route into the bowl, the tubes just act as crap deflectors for any dirt or water getting IN. Add they will still spill fuel on sloshing and tipover. I run the very short tubes as crap deflectors only, so I do not neccessarily have to clean the carby every time I wash the bike or get into dirty/ dusty conditions . I am not cleaning the carb after every ride, as the pros do. Thirdly, if one takes notice, there is basically little difference in the install between bikes. Just as one can take a carb off the 125 and put it on the 250, one can usually take the carb off a Gasser and put it on the Sherco. The carby just sits there and gives a certain amount of fuel for a given amount of air run through it. The stoich ratio remains a constant for an engine to perform properly upon what it recieves in most all cases. Next, the smaller bore of the 24mm carb as compared to the 26 or 28mm versions would tend to increase the velocity of the given amount of air run accross the control valve (slide) and ports that are sucking the fuel up from the bowl. Running a bit faster per stroke, also tends to be more consistant, therefore more manageable. The limiting factor being the total available flow(WOT) to the motor. A balancing act in itself! All depends upon what the rider wants of the bike! Control is the name of the game in the sections! Predictable response is key! The 26mm dellorto is just a generic standard, simple and works, and I still do not need all it can provide on the 2.9, thus many wanting to tone them down. Specially some older models which were quite brisk! As the Xispa was developed with the Oko, I would still be interisted to know what they are shipping with, and if it works, per Borus. As it is all relative it seems. And with Bobtlr, the only known caution that I know might be the diffuser height(that thing that stands in front of the needle) for the 4T, requireing a change out from the original. Not sure? Measure the heights! I do think the new carb is better, may not be worth the cost though. MC
  23. That's just the point, they ain't! You can tuna piano, but you can't tuna pig! You can make the pig happy! I do admit I was impressed to see TRW got the 125 version to run the courses, or most of them!
  24. Any idea what jetting and needle is in the Xispa's? Do they look like these with the balance tube connected form inlet to bowl? No lower tube on the bowl?
