  1. I havnt read your other posts,so i dont know what you have done to solve this problem.Have you made sure that there is no fluid pushing past the seals in the master cylinder at the lever??I had this exact fault on my sons 03 gasser.A new piston with seals costs around a tenner.A lot of people say the best oil is dextron 3 ATF,not sure if its good for the mont, but you can buy this in most car shops. If there are any seals at the clutch end, check these also.Sounds like you are losing pressure.
  2. If you are ordering online, might be a bit pricy on postage because its classed as hazardous, check postage before you buy it.
  3. Hi,i had this same predicament last Octoberish. My lad was 11 at the time,i thought about an 80cc,gasgas or beta, but then i though kids start to grow quickly around this age,and he would soon out grow the bike, and then you have all the hassle of upgrading.I ended up with a gasgas 125 pro, which will last him well into his teens. It was a tad big for him at first, but he soon got used to it.Its also fairly docile until you give it a hand full.
  4. Not sure.Might be worth emailing the club.

    Clutch Rattle

I think this topic has been covered before, but i`ve just had a quick look through the gasgas forum and the info isnt there. My sons 03 gasgas 125 pro has a clutch rattle.Clutch works fine etc. There is a slight bit of play where the clutch plates sit in the basket, and the fingers are loose(this explains why the rattle goes when clutch lever is is pulled),but other than that i cant find anything. The clutch is new. Although everything is working fine, the rattle annoys me. Any thoughts/ideas? Cheers
  7. Fair enough,i`ll pay more attention from now on
  8. Y`all seen this yet??? clicky
  9. Dont think Tesco would sell a wheel cleaner that would harm alloy, most of the cars today have alloy wheels on
  10. Has the bike got fresh fuel in?and have you changed the plug?.Simple questions, but with a bike thats new to you,it worth checking. Good luck
  11. Regarding what size of bike,a modern 125cc is more than powerfull enough, espacially for a beginner. My son has a 125 gasgas,it has more than enough power, even for someone like me at 42 years old.Its very docile at low revs, which is good for beginners, but when you open it up,it will go up the side of a house!!
  12. Can anyone tell me if the sherco trials bikes all have the same size flywheel pullers??(M30x1.5mm) Thanks
  13. It IS the timing.Retard the backplate a couple milimeters (at the outside edge),not sure which direction to go.Check the sherco website.
  14. The seller is right when he says you wouldnt notice if you are a newbie. If it runs ok,buy it.I have an 04 290,no complaints with it,other than the air box get mucked up easily. When the rear fender splits at the bolt holes,it tends to flip off easily especially if you fall off frequently like i do My son has a gasser,he loves it.Never changed fork seals on a gasser, but changed them on my sherco, simple job to do.Probably the same method on a gasser or very similar. Also the air box is a better design on the gasser( only my opinion, and i`m talking about the pro model here)mud and stuff cant get in there as easily as it can on the sherco.
  15. Jorge,if you havnt tried the 98 octane yet, this is the easiest option to try.Give it a go,let us know if it helps. From experience, wrong octane does make the engine sound bad, especially if the bore/piston are in good nick.If it doesnt help, you can try all thr other suggestion from the other guys.
  16. Hi all ,my mate has a fantic 241(i`m pretty sure thats what he said).Problem is,we cant get it going.(well we can,but we have to tow it with the forklift at work for about 100 yards till it starts, then when we stop it, try to kick it up it just wont go,not even firing) The woodruff key is ok,as is the coil, good spark. The notches on back plate in the ignition are lined up.Carb been cleaned/blown out and plug is wet after trying to start. I expected to find some points with the bike being old,but there isnt any, also.no cdi unit, unless its somwhere strange.Where?? To me,there doesnt seem to be much compression, you can turn the flywheel by hand, and there is very little resistance, but when we tow it,bang it into gear, the back wheel locks up `till we bounce on it,so it seems there is compression. Any suggestions please Steve
  17. make sure you have the correct fuel, not normal unleaded, super unleaded is what you should try.Higher octane resists pre-ignition,which is what you may have.(98 octane i think)
  18. I had the same problems with the same bike(including bent kickstart).Moving the stator plate completely cured the problem for me.May be you need to retard timing a bit more??,it cant do any harm, and as you know, its a 5 minute job.Asuming there is nothing wrong anywhere else,i would try doing this. PS,mmight be worth double checking that you have moved plate in right direction
  19. Thanks Jon,i will check all these things out.Just for reference,do you know how much (for example)a .05mm alteration of the clutch pack will affect the finger height??
  20. You could take the piston/seals out and inspect them,if it looks worn, you can replace them for a tenner.Might be a good place to start.
  21. That looks interesting, wonder if you can get them over here??,i will check it out.
  22. i`ve just put a tubless one on my sherco, plenty of washing up liquid...no problem at all
  23. Thanks mate, that is something i would definatly do but the pro clutch i different than most clutches(you sure your lad had a pro?).It has `fingers`and a belville spring which cannot be messed with.Changing the metal plates is the only way i think. Must be someone out there that can help me
  24. Has any body had problems with a heavy clutch on the gasgas pro?,my sons clutch is quite heavy, especially for a youngster.I recently installed a new clutch,I believe it is possible to make it lighter by adjusting the thickness of the clutch pack using different size shims.Has anybody tried this?,also is DOT 4 the correct fluid?? Cheers in advance.
