oil mix 2010 bike
Have you had the carb off for a good clean / blow through? A 50:1 pre-mix or change of oil shouldn't cause the symptoms you're describing? GJ

Foot Pegs.
I won a pair of oversize pegs in the raffle at last years WTC TC bash. I can't remember the make but they only lasted a day on the bike before I swapped them back for the standard ones! Just didn't feel right at all? GJ

Condisation problem
Codge - Mr Copes word of the year and what a fantastic word it is too! Reading the difference in opinion between Ormplus and Mobbster, Smallboy is now probably wishing the question was never asked. Don't worry about it, that's what forums are all about. The banter can get a bit heated at times but at the end of the day we are all individuals with our own opinions and express them we shall. Even if you're Dr Who and have been fixing things with your sonic screwdriver for over 900 years someone will disagree with you - guaranteed. What a boring world it would be if we all agreed with each other eh? So you now have choices (IMO); Leave the cover as it is and remove it regularly and let it all dry out. Drill a hole in the bottom as a drain (also works as an inlet with the vacuum effect mentioned earlier. Only use WD40 if you regularly remove the flywheel for cleaning. An electrical specific protector like Copey mentioned is the best bet. Drill a hole and fit a breather tube up the frame (seen this done on quite a few bikes) Try sealing the cover in place with something (codge?) (Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't). Personally, I do the regular removal, blow out with an air line and spray with ipone protector, leave cover off until thoroughly dry - school of maintenance. Other opinions may vary - always read the label. GJ

Used bike advice?
Steve, plenty info regarding this if you do a search or post it as a new thread? I personally change mine at least twice a year (2 stroke) - 4 strokes are more frequent. Hugh, everyone has their own opinion on what make/model etc they prefer. If you can it's always best to try before you buy? They're all good these days but my personal preference is Gas Gas plainly because I like the way they handle/feel/operate. Test riding a few may help you make your own decision? Set yourself a budget and take it from there. Have a look on the web, e-bay etc and you'll soon discover the average price for the average bike of the average age ?? Remember to include riding gear in your budget because if you don't already have some the new prices may shock you? I personally wouldn't walk away from a bike just because they've admitted the oil hasn't been changed much? Use points like this to your advantage. If the bike looks reasonable then getting

New bike
Hi Pete, going through the same dilemma myself just now. My 06 Gasser is still sound as a pound mechanically and otherwise. Did the new tyre, c+s etc but I'm still hankering after something new or newer! I know for a fact a newer machine will not make up for my lack of skill and will have no effect on my scores BUT...... I still want one! I bought the 06 in 07 as a discounted previous year model and saved quite a few quid so I'd probably do the same this time if I ever make my mind up? There's something quite sexual special about a new bike straight out the crate - perhaps that's why I have the urge? Finances dictate that I should do the same as you, the voices in my head say otherwise............ GJ P.S. Why do the edges of your tyres not round off the same as mine? Not fair

Wheel Bearings
Not a trials wheel I know but the principal is much the same... Personally; I use a long flat end punch - not a screwdriver. Blow torch, heat gun, boiling water all help but 9 times out of 10 you don't need any heat at all. I've used Copeys suggestion of a rawl bolt and it works a treat (sometimes the inner spacer tube doesn't have enough tolerance (freeplay) to allow punching out the first bearing).Welding some scrap to the inner race also works. I use the old bearing to aid tapping in the new one rather than a socket. There are times that the inner race will punch out and leave the outer race still in the wheel - then it gets more interesting! DON'T forget to put the inner spacer back in before you tap in the last bearing! Have fun GJ

2 stroke oil ratio
Hi nickjc, have a look here....Clicky Linky 50:1 ratio = 100ml oil per 5000ml petrol (5 litres) 60:1 ratio = approx 83ml oil per 5000ml petrol 80:1 ratio = approx 62ml oil per 5000ml petrol I run my 280 on anything between 60:1 and 80:1 depending on what mood I'm in when measuring the oil ! Good quality fully synthetic oil and regular unleaded. Hope this helps? GJ
