Only if allowed riders are over 50.

Absolutely Right...I think the major components are the ones that will suffer (are suffering) the most as factories try to cut cost and weight at the same time. Lowering the minimum weight will not result in any ones riding ability improving! Just higher cost and less reliability.

If they consistently ease up on the section severity just a little, anyone in the top 5 could be World Champ in the coming years.
-
I thought you had to Organize a World Round to get in.....

Probably one of the best articles about Trials I have ever read.
Len Weed could sure add some interesting details.
Martin..were you entered in the event?
Is it true Griffits was selling those onions by the side of the road after the event?
-
Its been a while since I've seen a World Rider wearing suspenders!

Unfortunately you end up with sections "adjusted" by a few, rather than more diversified sections set up by many.

He has zero power from what I have been told.......only makes recommendations (not even sure why the guy shows up)
-
Your starting to catch on.....too many rules be it from the Government or the NATC......its all B.S.

One particular problem at my section was in the Jr. line. As they turned about 180 deg. to continue on, there were large rocks on the outside of the turn. Other classes went over 3 different rocks on this outer rock boundary so there were signs tucked between/against these rocks. As some of the Jr riders brushed these rocks, they were most likely brushing against the signs and rocks at the same time......feet up for the most part. If there were ribbon on the ground where the signs were, they could brush against the rocks with no penalty using the NATC rule about riding on the ribbon as noted in my last post.
Most of the complaints at the first 4 rounds seem to address this No Touching Sign Rule as a problem for riders and checkers alike.

How convenient, a bike with a less than reliable gearbox that can be changed/fixed by the side of the road.......how many other manufactures could claim that......or would want to?

In my 36 years of Trials participation, I have to say we now have a Checking Nightmare on our hands.
I helped check a section at National Round 1 here in Ca. We were told "any contact with a section marker/sign is scored a 5". "But you can run over a ribbon with no penalty as long as the tire is not past the ribbon with ground showing between the tire and ribbon". It seems to me these 2 conflicting situations makes little common sense. We did not penalize any rider who may have come in contact with a sign short of knocking it over. In previous years, when a rider displaced a sign, it was easy to argue as the infraction was clear to see to the checker and rider
due to the damage or displacement of the sign. Not the case with the new rule which I have heard is causing a lot of
checking problems at the last 4 rounds.

4 or 5 Vintage riders on the Clubman line showing the modern bikes how its done. Even saw a couple of Wheeley Turns!!!
-
No Ossa's entered but were several displayed in the pits

Agreed.....Fuel Inj. doesn't change the fact that 2 strokes dump a good portion of unburned fuel into the exhaust just by designJust can't stand when idiots rev them out in neutral....run it down the road full throttle. This cleans out the crankcase and the exhaust.

Sounds like Mexafornian to me.

Totally agree with the "driving all over creation" part, but I guess that's the downside of living in such a large country.
As for regional events, why bother as the NATC in their infinite wisdom has created a class that allows riders with little
or no Trials Experience to compete (coupe of magazine writers at Donner 2 years ago)
Not sure the term "National Trials" will ever be held in a high regard.
-
Sorry guys....didn't mean to offend anyone. I really meant to say 2 Strokes.
-
I think its time the Trials Community take a stand in the World of Motorcycling and Outlaw
4 Strokes in Competition. The things are really overpriced nightmares created by government
regulation rather than common sense. And add Fuel Injection into the Ban also!!!
-
If the flywheel key shears, the Ign Timing may only change slightly which can cause symptoms similar to what you discribe.
-
I know in the US, the FIM Finance Requirements has put the chance of someone hosting a WR here in the "very unlikely position".
And no doubt about it, the sport was bigger when the sections were easier......at all levels.
-
Just takin a few weeks off from Trial Central and poor Mr. Ringo stired the pot tryin to help a buddy.
Andy.....please re open the topic so I can get a few posts in......you owe me.
I think those boys (and girls) from the birthplace of Trials should pitch in and buy Johnny a plate of "Ribs"
-
Thanks....will give it a look.
