  1. In hot conditions it would be easy to fit some of that heat sheild Sherco use on the underside of the rear fender! between the carb and head, like Honda did with the RTL, also could test a peice between the ign coil and head.
  2. That had the standard trials rake untill BS got his leg over it .

Stevo, David had a bad knee injury, rushed it to get back in the game, never rode up to is potential after the injury, the leg never healed and had to quit trials on advice from his doctor. Jeroni, is in a tough position, and this is an important season, but two weeks to heal a broken leg? may come back and bite them in the ass, I can see some top ball player wanting to get back for the multi million bonus, but all this lad will get if it doesn heal properly is a limp for the rest of his life. [Q] Subira, I think they were being a bit too ambitious thinking they could get back so soon, it is a shame that he is missing a season that after four rounds has had four different riders on the top of the podium, he would of been right there in the mix too. If things keep going as they are, Hawkstone will be one place the British fans will be foolish to pass by this year.
  4. Todays results from California, not many riders, but I did see Lane has a new lease on life and rode the champ class http://www.natctrials.org/results/05Rnd7.pdf
  5. I have a article from an old dirt bike rider test. The ultimate trials bike? Martin Lamkin tests the last of the works four-stroke Hondas, as used by Eddie Lejeune towards the end of 1987. Thanks to the efforts of Derrick Edmondson - Lejeune's mechanic and minder in 87 - the RTL escaped the HRC crusher and is currently being campaigned be talented Derbyshire youngster John Shirt. Couple of snips from the artical, "Martin Lampkin not surprisingly rates the works honda as the best bike he's ever ridden. "it looks like a production RTL- but there the similarity ends.
  6. Interesting point Subira, where will it be in five years time? Looking at the recent topics there seems to be more interest in the old bikes and events, than modern world trials, the pictures of those riders back in the eighties are ones of them doing pivot turns in rocks and mud, pictures of today's events are all of riders at the top of some mega step with the front wheel in the air, in fact I think they try too much to get that top of the step shot instead of more interesting shots like the one Andy got of Jarvis in the SSDT this year. Should it be one man and one machine only on the course, if people are required to catch then is that part of the section too hard, do sections need to be dangerous to take marks of the best riders, and closing any attempt by all but a few. Not that it makes any difference to what I do, but is world trials loosing touch with reality of the base sport, and people no longer relate to it as the same sport they do, I once could watch world rounds and think I would have a crack at riding that section, now I think
  7. Five years and nine of the ten days going to Montesa, and one to jarvis on Sherco. Can Raga WIN!! if he can and repeat in the US, I think he will claim the world championship. On form the two strokes are doing better, next year may be a different tale? no more excuses time to produce the goods.
  8. It will on June 4th and 5th, if you have never seen one, well worth the effort to go.
  9. Good record of model years on this site http://www.ataq.qc.ca/musee.htm

  11. Furthest cleans, meaning the rider who rode the most sections before loosing a mark, in this case the winner lost his first dab on section 6 the second place lost his first dab on section 1. If it was still tied then it's the rider who completed the event in the fastest time. If still tied I think they go to a section ride off, still tied the rider who does it the fastest. Still tied Go pub
  12. Old but worth reading, some points agree with what you are saying, but in a racing application. http://www.strappe.com/plugs.html
  13. Probably no need to go into the transmission, gear shift selector has stops on it to stop the shift drum rotating too far and missing gears, yours is an older bike so the stop could be worn or broken off. Probably need to replace the shift shaft, the assembly can changed with the motor in the bike.
  14. Some more advice from a Yorkshireman not living in Yorkshire, **** off.
  15. HRC and the other trials manufacturers spend a bob or two on R & D, to improve the motors etc, and trials bikes have gone up in price to near $8,000 US, if stated in Hop's post an increase of 2 ponies on a trials iron is a very significant performance increase, why are they not using those plugs ? A race motor, spends most of it's life at Max RPM, a trials motor spends most of it's life at less than half throttle. I have tried Platinum plugs, and the manufacturers recommended, and was unable to detect a noticeable improvement from stock, but my bike could of been set up and running correctly to start with. How often do people change and/ or compare a plug when it's running fine ? of course changing a plug when it's fouled or dirty will show an improvement. It's your money spend it how you like.
  16. Was this performance increase on a motor that puts out 350 HP or a trials motor that puts out about 16 HP. ?
  17. Think about it!! I can notice the change when a dirty or fouled plug is changed . But! Correct plug [heat range] and gapped to spec, isn't a SPARK, a spark!! V tip, copper head, platinum, Iridium, chocolate coated, does it make a difference, why pay $5 a plug when a $2 plug will work just as good. Are there benefits to wonder plugs? or is it all hype. The manufacturer of the plug, and the manufacturer of where you are sticking it! at more than twice the $$ they just sticking it!!.....................................................to you. If it made a machine run so much better would it not come stock? Could you take the plug out and tune your bike on how the plug looked, or is! cost most must be the best all the tuning you need ?
  18. How many lads try hop the rock in the middle of the ditch accross there, always see a good grove and fresh tyre marks on it, but always bottle and go round it.
  19. Graham Tales, used to ride the Tyrannosaurus jet, in the early eighties. Good thing about them, you never had much trouble finding it after walking the sections, even with the large entries back then. I have a bit of footage of one in the 85 SSDT Jay, I'll bring it to an event next time we are camping.
