  1. As it has gone from ebay, who was the lucky bidder?
  2. Lee, Hope you can make it, bike in garage for you so hop on the plane and make life easy. Martin
  3. Remove the spring and plastic spacer, then push the stanchion down as far as it will go while holding the damper rod at full extension then fill to 140mm from the top of stanchion with 7.5 wt oil. Prime the damper a few times to remove all of the air. Then re-assemble making sure the collets are in thier correct place. I hope this helps Martin
  4. Russell I would back the view for Rockshocks, I've been using mine for 3 seasons now maybe longer as I bought them off Pete Edmondson and they rebuild real easy and the service from John Bull is 1st class. I wouls love to try some magicals but at twice the cost of Rockshocks, I will be sticking with Johns product. Regards

    Fantic 201

All Fantic's that start with a 2 eg 200, 200 professional, 201, 203 and 205 have 156cc engines. Which I believe is the best size that they made, IMHO. The first 200's had a minerelli engine and from the 200 professional they are fitted with Fantic's own engine. Fantic's own engine kicks starts forward. The 201 is a good bike the back suspension is a bit wooden in its action compared with today's bikes or even a good twinshock fantic fitted Rockshocks or other quality shocks. Allow to put a new piston ring in it as the 156 really needs to have a new ring every 6 months or so, otherwise the performance suffers. overall a good bike to have to have some fun with
  6. I have been reading this topic and would like to know what alterations were made to the standard road going BSA Tracker to make a Chapman BSA? Thanks

    307

Why run more oil than less? 70/75 to 1 is the recommendation of the oil manufactures, running extra oil just gases the bike up, woolly throttle responce, smokey exhaust, fouls plugs and extra mantence. The steel parts of the exhaust can be cleaned by burning it out or cutting it open. the alloy section needs to be cut open to clean it out. All are dirty jobs but do make a difference once done, enjoy

    307

Hi, I run all my Fantics on 70mls of sysnthic to 5ltr of LRP petrol and have done for a number of years with no problems. If your bike is smoking that bad I would check the main seal in the clutch side and you will also need to clen out the exhaust before it will ever run clean. try Bill Pye for the caliper seal or look for a brembo agent through Google. hope that helps
  9. I would say it's the oppsite way in the UK that Fantic parts are easier to come by than montesa. The 200 Montesa is a good bike but there is a fault in thier kick starter gears and they can be hard to find, this situation has not been helped with sandifords shuting. Fantic 200's come in two models the first ones with a Minerelli engine and the later ones with the 240 frame and fantic's own forward kick engine. Both have the same barrel and are both 156cc in size. IMHO this is the best twinshock bike ever built, enough power, handles well, good surspension, modern feel, easy to get spare parts for. Only down side it's not as pretty as a Beamish or Seely. Get the Mont if its cheap and kick start works put some good shocks on it, big footrests and have some fun down and back a bit. I know I will start the whole "what's the best twinshock bike" saga off again, the best one is of course what ever you have in your garage and can use at the week-end. Regards

    txt 80 rookie

Hi I have a Rookie for my lad, go to John Shirt,s GasGas site. gasgasuk and there are copies of the manuals for you to download. We have only owned it for a few weeks but so far it's been a good bike. Martin
  11. The Beamish Suzuki is a good looking machine and very reliable. Some spares are hard to find but they don't need many. I had one for a few years and enjoyed riding it then I contracted Fantic illness, they ride better but dont look as good.

    BETA Rev 50

I have just bought a Rev 50 for my youngest lad, its an early one with gears watercooled, disc etc around 2002. Does anyone have the handbook for this bike that I could copy or is there any online? If not what are the basic's engine oil qty and type, spark plug that sort of general information. Thanks

    Alloy kickstart

What alloy kickstarter are you wishing to fit? If its from Fantic's watercooled Section Model then its a straight swop. If it's one of the aftermaket kickstarters it wont as they are for the Minerelli motor.
  14. I've got Rockshocks on my Fantic's and are very happy with them, plus the service from John Bull is excellent. I have tried Betors bent one others have leaked also Falcons very good but had one leak after 2 days use and was charged for a rebuild after returning them. So my vote is for Rockshocks.
  15. I've started to use a 200 fwd kick bike which is really good, I was using a 240 before. The fwd kick 200 are a bit rare but I have found another which has been modified by Chris for footrests and head angle and will get all the mods done to it but will have to wait for rebuilding as too many projects and work to complete just now. Aiming to have it ready for Big John's event. The bike I'm using just now has got 305 forks and rock shocks outback which work together real nice and fat bars fitted using a KTM enduro bike bar clamp. Usual footrest mod and a Sammy Miller brake pedal other than that its std. This I believe is the best Fantic twinshock (it is for me) until I finish the new bike.
  16. Hi Can you fit a tubed front tyre onto a tubeless front rim as fitted to 305 model Fantics. I will need to drill the rim for a security bolt. Will it stay on or slip down in to the well once the pressure is reduced. Thanks
  17. Thanks John but I tried them and no D5ES or D6ES shown so was wondering were anybody got theirs from or is there an equilivant or just use the DR6ES thats listed. The bike came with a D9ES fitted and the nearest one andbody stocks down here is a D8ES. Thanks
  18. Help required, please. What spark plug do you recommend as the manual states NGK D5ES or D6ES which I can not find anywhere. Should I just use the DR version with the resistor in it. Or what's the view of this forum? Thanks
  19. I would be interested if it was going to be run over a week-end with the kids being able to ride on both the Saturday and Sunday. We live quite some distance away so would want to make it a mini breake away with the bikes week-end. If you decide to go ahead please post up the details as both my lads would be up for it.
  20. Oops, sorry I didn't realise I was shouting. That is the aim, to be at Alvie with it and most of the other twin shock trials that don't conflict with the Enduro and twinshock moto-cross season. 2010 is going to be a busy year Are you going to on the B40 or SWM Ross?
  21. After much wanting and lusting after I have finally spent the cash and bought a Seeley honda 200 I now need some help from the Trails central community, first where do you go for spares? second as its going to be used and not an ornament whats the up grades ( it came with big footrests and there is a set of rock shocks on thier way ) and finally does anyone have a manual that I could copy. Thanks in advance P.s. just any information on Seeley's would be great
  22. Hi, I was one of the unlucky one who didn't get an entry but I did get one for the scramble/moto-cross provided I get my bike finished in time, look out for some very last minute spannering. Good luck to all entered in the trial.
  23. Russell, I've got a 200 carb if you want to borrow another one to try.
  24. MXA are manufacturing bike covers and will print on what ever bike name onto it as well. They are at Newcastle and the owner is a twinshock motocross nut, called Frank Thornton.
  25. Hi I'm planning the family holiday to Northern France. Ferries booked now need location and things too do. I'm tring to find out if there are any good twinshock trials in the region on either the 5th or 12th July (it's my holiday also!!!). Any recomendations on campsite would be helpful also, good or bad. Thanks
