Look, with over 100 riders There should have been 12 observers. Instead The organisers get some pretty serious flak becuase 4 sections have to be pulled because only 8 volunteer! If you want to ride be prepared for this sort of situation. It's no good complaining to the organisers of the event if you have nobody prepared to observe. I do it because I am VERY involved in my son's hobby and am prepared to stand and observe on a pretty crap day to get a Trial run. All credit to the observers at the Horsforth trial who turn out every weekend to do so. To those who gave Barry and the Horsforth Crew who set out the Trial considerable grief about not having 12 observers and decided to "head Home", get real! This is a volunteer sport! Understand the problem and get on board! Personally I'd like to thank Barry and all at the Horsforth club and all the officials who helped and GET OFF THEIR BACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I volunteer my servies to Yeadon-Guiseley as Treasurer and if I am at a Trial where NYL does not need me to follw him around I am more than willing to observe to get the trial underway. Barry does a fantastic job at Horsforth and must be feeling pretty undervalued after the last couple of trials. We all know when they are on and when Chris(NYL) enters I always volunteer my serivces. GET BEHIND THE CLUBS IN YOUR AREA. Not only ENTER BUT SUPPORT THEM. To all those that did good on you, to those that wandered around get in there and support YOUR SPORT.

I'd say the Beta mainly becuase the rear tyre on the Sherco seems to be a bicycle tyre. If i was there again and HAD to get an auto the Gas Gas would be my choice.

I ran an 04 125 and the basics are the same. You'll find a sticker on the frame recommending the use of 98 RON fuel. That's available from Shell as Optimax and Q8 stations. Standard fuel works ok tho. Some Tesco's do 99 RON which is even better. Sherco recommend a 2% Fuel/oil mix. We used Castrol XR77 which is expensive but we never had any problems with the bearings which have been reported by other riders. I dropped the mix to 1.5% using this. We changed the Gearbox oil monthly using either Plutoline or PJ1 Gearbox oil. It takes about 450ml. Again no problems with the Box. You will needs to make sure the area under the rear mudguard is sealed to stop water getting into the airbox. The Airbox fits under the frame frame and usually there is a small gap which can be sealed using clear Silicone sealer. Seal the top of the frame and the sides of the box using draft sealer. We had some on the other side(Exhaust) as well. Clean the air filter and oil the inside after at least a weekends riding. As a preventative measure I put Silkelene FST Pro in the fuel as well which cleans the carb and clears any moisture that may have built up. Don't overtighten the stator cover and check after very wet rides that no water has got in. Take the tank off once a month when the guard is off and clean under the tank area. I used Muc-off to clean the bike and covered the metal parts with WD-40 to prevent any rust problems. Don't get it on the discs tho.

Jack was at the YG AGM on Wednesday along with Adam so I'd be surprised if they weren't there(Cobb & Jagger). He is a really good prospect and given the popularity of trials in Yorkshire at the moment I would not be surprised to see more following. The two Haley lads(Louis And Edward) are pretty good, my own son is snapping away with his mates Bevan Blacker and Tom Wolfendon and such as Sam Beecroft-Penny and Ryan Cartwright are just behind. Even then we have seen some new riders popping up in the Yorkshire Centre so watch your backs!!!!

Probably easiest to plant some mature trees at the top of the bank, dig some "features" at the bottom and also put some mature trees in to add to the feel. Also plant trees on the rest of the land. You'll have a smallish area to start with that should grow in time.

I think you are still confused over what is a licence and the Affiliation Fee. The Licences may well be free, but as StuartC said the officials still have to pay Affiliation fee's like any Rider.

Check and clean out the Airbox, Air filter and carb. It does sound as though you may need to check the water pump as well. If the seals on the shaft are worn or damaged they could be letting water into the gearbox.

Are you Practising??? Horsforth's Novice Beginners is on the 12th February. If you don't mind a drive out there is a Allcomers Easy Trial at Newton Near Pickering on Sunday tho.

Whose the Local TMX guy?? It could be worthwhile getting him/her onto it with a view to getting as much publicity as soon as possible!!

Hmmm!! The popular choices are the Gas Gas and Beta Auto's. The new player is the Clipic Auto and they are keen to get riders on them. However as soon as he has learned to ride and he can handle it sizewise get him on the Beta REV50. The Sherco auto is ok but you don't see many around and it seems to use a Bicycle tyre. With all the little Autos I have heard of parts availability problems and also they are revved to heaven and back!! My son learnt to ride on a PW80 at BUMPY where they taught him the balance and steering. The semi-auto box made it ideal. After 4 or five lessons he moved on to the TY80. When he wanted to start competing I got him an old Mecatechno 80 then moved after 8 months to a REV50. It was really a case of how keen are they. My lad is very keen and will spend all day every weekend riding if I let him. If your lad is like this he will want to go to the REV50 ASAP as he will want to compete. If you are in the Yorkshire area that's easy as is the Derbyshire area.

We got 115 entries for the last trial at Addingham. 15 were youngsters on the conducted course. It didn't seem that many but there again I was at the last section so it tends to string out a bit by the time they get to me.

Club trial's have a Clubmans route and a "Hard" Course. These are for riders who have ridden for a while. The Beginners/Novice have a very easy course and also a hard(novice) course that is set out to be between the Clubmen and Hard course. As for being a member just join on the day. We'll be renewing NYL's on the day.

Checked at <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> . I was talking to Phil at the "Fun" trial and it's the Next Novice Beginners in February, the club trial is on the 29th.

So I went over to Todotrial to read their report on Sheffield. I had to run it thru Babelfish to translate it, and Tony Bou comes out as "Toni Seine fishing"????????????????????

Is there actually a trial on the 29th?? Talking to the secretary at the last trial I'm sure he said the Next trial would be in February.

Thw way we go is to come off the M1 at Junction 36 and go down the A6195 to wards Wath. I think it's about 5 roundabouts down and you need to take the Wombwell turn signposted for the station. When you get to the Crossroads go straight across. This takes you on to Dovecliffe Road. This takes you alongside Wombwell Wood. The trial Venue is on the right about a mile up. If the Sections are close to the road you'll see them on the right. Either way It's a road on the right I think with some signs pointing to a Recycling site(I think that's what it is). As you go down the road hairpins left and the trial entrance is on the outside of that corner. Take direction from the officials as to where to park as it can be a bit tight. See you there!!

Hiya Trialsbabe, to be flippant, Been there, done that got the t-shirt. To start if you are on a bike of up to 80cc then the "Small-wheels" trials are were you need to start. The first of these this year, is at Addingham Moorside with Yeadon Guiseley on the 15th January. ALL Yeadon-Guiseley trials, Beginners, Club and Centre/Group will have a Small-wheels trial run on a "conducted course" seperate to the main trial for Beginners/Young riders. This is normally taken by Mike Hinch the Club President and Junior Secretary. It's not a very easy course but will get you going. The other local clubs with this type of course to run on are Ripon, who run them on the same days as their "Evening trials" but at 3:30pm before the main trial and they do have a easy and hard route. Richmond also run conducted route's just watch out for their Youth trials. StuartC's Autotowbars Beginners at Bradford are also good to get you used to a "normal" trial format. I'd suggest getting used to slow tight corners with a step that may need a little bit of power as well as the more "spectacular" moves. Get out doing the Trials as much as possible. The more you ride with different clubs the better you will get. REMEMBER Practising isn't a real trial so don't knock yourself out if you don't win the first trial you enter. NYL took 7 or 8 months to really make progress but does well enough now for him to really consider the nationals as a next step. Plus If you need it get your Dad to post on the forum for more advice. There are plenty of us out here who have being tho "t'mill" and are willing to give advice. To End see you out there and most important HAVE FUN!!!

Great credit to Neil, Marty and the Avondale and Yeadon-Guiseley organisers out there. Gather there was a problem behind the scnes and hope it didn't spoil anybody's night. Have to mention the "Gestapo" on the doors. We arrived "late" at the G2F tent due to picking up the new "weapon" for NYL and to be honest I was not impressed by the attitude of the event "representatives". It will be mentioned and hopefully acted on. I do not appreciate such stupid remarks as "do you have a ticket" when I am not only in the venue but have a G2F band on my wrist!!!!! Other wise a brilliant night with a winner who was "all out"for the win. I think Dougie yet again was let down by the Bike not being up to the task (indoors at least). But all hatts off to Toni Bou for making a night of it!!!

Given that Ben's back on a Beta and that probably means no connection with Montesa in 2006 who's minding Dougie at Sheffield??? Also hear that James Dabill will be doing 5 rounds of the World Indoor as a wild card this year.
