A recent post in this forum mentioned that John Shirt had success with improving the fork action on TY250 twinshock forks by using smaller oil holes in the damper rods. My TY250B and TY175B both have TY250 twinshock front ends fitted with B&J Racing springs but otherwise are standard. The B&J springs made a great improvement in the fork action of both bikes but they still don't seem to be as good as well set up Spanish bike forks of the same era. I weigh 88kg and use 5WT in the 175 and 10 WT in the 250. Oil level in both bikes is 125mm from the top when bottomed. Does anyone know the size and location of the holes that worked well for John Shirt?

Boggles the mind.... how many old trials bikes are sitting around in garages like this waiting to be un-earthed? Thought I was lucky when I found my kt with 1000 miles on from new.

I'm planning a rebuild on my fathers 200 Majesty. We've owned it since '84, but after my father died in 86 I've only had it running once, that was 10 years ago. Cosmetically it still looks good and original. However, I'd like to freshen up the engine a bit with a full rebuild, replacing all the seals, bearings and gaskets. I guess the bottom end is still TY175, but where would I find spares for the top end, such as piston, rings, gudgeon pin, head gasket etc ? Any help and guidance gratefully received... Regards Paul

Japanese site with a buildup of the model. HERE I believe it's a Heller kit. I've seen these offered on ebay. If you have the google tool bar you can right click and translate the page.

I have two TY175s, I might be interested in building a Majesty 200 clone? Did John bore out and resleeve a 175 or what? Are pistons available? Are Majesty 200 gas tanks available? The pictures of Majestys have been a great help! I still can't get to the Majesty web site.

Hi, I am on the look out for a Pinky Yam 250, as a novice I have been advised by a couple of mates that a Pinky is the way to go as I have a TLR200 and although I like it I just can not seem to get on with it. (Stop waffling) I have seen a Pinky for sale, it has been bored to 270. I was wondering if the rebore would change the bike that much power wise for a novice (read crap rider) also the inlet manifold has been shortened to "improve" power. Again should I as a novice maybe stay away and find a bog std 250. Or to put it simple. What does a 270 kit do to a Pinky. Thankyou.

TY 80, the bike starts and runs but when put in gear you have to rev it up and push off while releasing the clutch to get rolling, once its in the power band, runs great. Is this the way the TY80'S run? The topend sounds tight. I would like it to run slow and zippy while in 1st gear, any Ideas? sam

  12. I have designed a plastic cover for TY tanks that will cover the old plastic one and make it look like new. The whole thing is simple to use and will offer protection to the tank in a fall as well. The unit itself is in three pieces and assembled around the tank. I am trying to judge the need for the product so if youe interested let me know. madproffesor@easyriders.com Thanks
