My 1977 TY175 (new to me) clutch engages very late and is hard to control in a section. The cable is lubed, the actuator cam is new and greased, fibre plates new with flat metal plates. Do I need to lengthen the actuator arm? What am I missing? Help is appreciated. I am looking for a smooth controllable clutch engagement as opposed to an off/on switch.

Is anyone using the DEP rear muffler for the TY175? If so 2 questions: 1) Is it fairly quiet? 2) Does it have a recess for an O-ring where the pipe pushes into the standard TY mid-box to ensure a good seal? (like the standard TY175 rear muffler has) cheers

I have had this little gem for over 35 years. In that time the engine has never missed a beat. Although she hasnt been run for about 5-6 years, I attempted to fire her up a few weeks back and it ran really rough, wouldnt rev and spat oil out of the exhaust pipe. I thought it about time for a refresh. I am more than happy about stripping a single cylinder as I have done so with several others (Honda 125, Kawasaki 50) in the past. My problem is, the nut on the end of the crankshaft on the clutch side is being very resistant to being removed. The engine is still in the frame so as to firmly hold the engine still so I can apply leverage, but still it fails to budge and …

Yamaha ty175 Just had full engine rebuild but can't get it to spark. Coil / plug works as tried on another bike and has seperate earth wire from coil to engine, so it's got good earth. Points open, condensor is new. Flywheel is magnetic, new woodruff key How can I test generator/ ignition coil. When I use multimeter from black wire to earth I get 1.6ohms . Getting same on a spare unknown ty windings.
