Twinshock

  1. Started by wilsonwash8,

Well, I dropped off my NOS RL 250 swingarm bushings with a friend to copy. I asked for a couple of sets in bronze and he asked if I also wanted any in aluminum....... never heard of this myself. Seems the bronze would be better for carry lubrication. Thoughts on this?

I’m going to be working on a friends 1985 Can Am (Armstrong) 240 (Rotax) trials bike. I have a couple of SWM 320s (280 Rotax) . So I know where to get any engine parts. The body and frame parts I’m not so sure about. We need the following: muffler... ...carb kit... ...seat... ...all cables... ...decals... ...intake tube from carb to engine...since it has the Amal carb the intake tube appears different(smaller id) SWM? ...air filter... ...rear sprocket... ...front and rear fenders ...what handlebars do you recommend?.. thanks

Can anyone help ? I`m trying to trace the history of a bike I`ve had for decades. Heres what I know... Its a Suzuki 80. K10 ( modified) Reg`d 06 Jan 1966 in N.Ireland ( 7051OZ ) Frame No. K10175176 Engine No. K10180612 Heres what I think... it was one of three bikes modified by Suzuki for the 1965 IOM ISDT, ridden by Don Barrett, John Harris , or Stan Miller. I could be completely wrong, as I also heard it may have been ridden by a guy called Dave Andrews, who won a bronze award at the same event. I have loads of pics I can e-mail to anyone who thinks they might know someth…

  19. Just got my bike (1985 Can-Am 240 Trials - Frame #21) and LOVE how it rides and feels! Need to adjust a few things, but that Rotax motor has plenty of low end to pull me up and over most anything. Put a few miles on the odometer at a local vintage trials event, and was smiling the entire time. New decals and touch ups and this pretty bike will look new again. Thinking about improving the pegs, and maybe new shocks one day. Already put a set of Dunlop GP tires on it, and they seem nice and grippy. I'll dream up more things to do, but for now, will just enjoy my new ride!!! Any and all Can-am/Armstrong info, suggestions are encouraged and welcome! UPDATE! Got t…

  20. Started by slogger,

I have just purchased a Montesa 348 which appears to be fitted with a Dellorto VHBZ carb as opposed to the original (i believe) Amal. This got me wondering, how interchangeable carbs are and how does changing the carb change the behaviour of the bike? Any knowledge of this subject would be of interest as the previous owner purchased the carb off of ebay and I am wondered if a different carb would change the characteristics of the bike.
