...it was an experience On the way to the first section I though "this must be what miserable days at the Scottish are like". By the time I got to the first section I couldn't feel any of the fingers of my throttle hand..(still, they'd thawed out by the 2nd section), and I was thinking of perhaps only doing the first loop...I was also wondering how we'd get up some of the hills (as this course route is same as some of Dave Rowland Trial), and indeed home back along that track in the car+trailer if the snow got really heavy. The decision was made guilt-free for me by the organisers (wisely)cancelling the event after the first loop of 8 (or was it 9?) sections I have to …

Dan Thorpe mastered the freezing conditions to win the Stratford-Upon-Avon clubs National Colmore Cup on Sunday. Dropping a miserly three marks, Dan beat Sam Connor who lost nine, in an event which punished the unwary with unexected fives on sections which polished up like glass in sub zero temperatures. Full results to follow soon.

hi, i just wondered if any of you could let me know if there is any difference, between a beginers trial, and a novice trial, or what is the difference, between those two and an over 40s trial,??????? the reason i ask is that, when i was younger i had enjoyed owning and riding several trials bikes, (old monts and bultacos, 70s bikes) i hadnt however been in any trial, back then i had access to old pits, and woods, i carried on like that for about 10years or so. then i had a big gap of about 17 years of not owning or riding a bike at all, (except for doing some "proper" mountain bike riding). then in september, i decided to treat myself and went and bought a new sherco…

At the start of this week the IOWMCC had 15 entries for the first round of the ladies British championship on March 12 . If the Ladies don't support thier championship why should clubs bother to organise trials for them, it takes as much effort to put on a trial for 15 as 115 riders. The club even had a beginners route planed, but at the moment we have one section per rider. Maybe things will improve this week but time is running out.

The Stratford-Upon-Avon Club are running the Colmore Cup as a one-off National for 2006, on the 5th March. Starting at a new venue; Downs Farm near Bourton-on-the-Hill, (signposted from A44) the 40 section 25mile road trial will visit many of the favourite traditional Groups high on the Cotswold hills, plus five brand new sections in the steep wood at Top Farm overlooking the Vale of Evesham. In it's 75+ year history Colmore Winners include, Sammy Miller, Steve Saunders, Steve Colley, Dougie Lampkin, Sam Conner and Graham Jarvis. As a non championship round, the sections will be less severe than last year when winner Graham Jarvis dropped 15 marks, mainly in the infamo…

The popular Edinburgh St George Plaza trial takes place on Sunday March 12th near Lauder in the Scottish borders - its a good regular trial - approx 3mile lap and no silly stuff - 'A' route is laid out for non experts but will still challenge experts - and we cater for all classes down to B youths on the easier 'B' route - As we give out no silly plastic awards, the proceeds from the trial go to a local good cause - last year the local village primary school got a cheque for

It's the first round of the ACU's national trail bike series on Sunday 19th March. I must say I'm looking forward to this excellent event. Starting near Winchcombe, the Cheltenham Home Guard Club put on a good days trail riding with 30 observed sections across the Cotswold Hills near Cheltenham. Although the Barrett has dropped it's classic bike title this year, they still have a healthy entry of trail bikes with almost 80 riders starting at minute intervals from 9am.
