First time travel from USA to '08 SSDT. Need advice as to where best to stay. Is there a central hotel/headquarters for the event? Also, which airport is best to fly in to? Thanks for any advice.

Going to be arriving in the Kinlochleven area about midday on the Saturday. Will the trial still be going on then? If so where would be the best place to head? I have watched the 6 days many times but never managed to catch any of the pre65, so would like to see some if possible.

Dear All, Help! Has anyone been able to take out competition insurance recently? After Carol Nash discontinued their comp -inclusive cover last year, I had a frantic 2 hours ringing round every insurer I could find on the internet until eventually Bennets said they would cover competition usage along with TPF&T - I confirmed at leat 3 times on the phone converstation I had, that the policy covers road use in between sections whilst on the road. Then, when I come to check the policy 1 month before riding SSDT I discover that competition usage is specifically excluded. So - I have been explicitly mis-sold the policy which is annoying (they are currently "going throug…

Good representation at this year's Scottish with no less than seven riders entered. Managed to grab them for a team shot...

Anyone got answers to Dougie Lampkin's rapid fall to the middle of the pack, score? I'm tending to lean towards machine failure, as the Dougie we all know wouldn't breakdown on Day 6. He'd carry the bike through the sections. Who knows, maybe that's what he's doing to pack on those numbers.

Alexz Wigg (Gas Gas) has now taken the outright lead of the 2013 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) after losing three marks on the third day of competition. The 2010 SSDT winner has close opposition from Dougie Lampkin (Gas Gas) whose dream of a seventh win remains a real possibility as he sits just one mark behind Wigg overall. He too dropped three marks on what was his early day. Sam Connor (Beta) who had begun the day carrying a yellow leader board along with Wigg, notched up five marks on day three and now trails the leading duo by two and one marks respectively. Local rider Gary Macdonald will be pleased with his day's work having now ridden himself into fifth spot o…

We'll be out again this year taking photos and video for TC. There may even be a DVD if we get round to it. What I need to know is your rider numbers. These forums are great but you never get to know peoples real names. This makes it very difficult to identify riders on the entry list. If you provide you rider number and real name we'll try and make sure you get extra TC coverage.

Well worth a couple of quid to see shirty riding in tights, might get a bit cold round the Trossacks, but it doesn't look like that will be used this year.

As posted just the other day, not much SSDT banter on here (yet...!). So, just to put that right... Anyone heard what level of support the various importers are getting/providing in Fort Bill this year? Factory trucks a-plenty? Intrigued to know as plenty of people will be keen to know what they have to got to sort for themselves if no importer/factory support is forthcoming from any particular marque (or not).

Just come across a date clash with this years SSDT that may impact accomadation availability in and around Fort William. The British Downhill Mountain Bike championships are been held on the final saturday of SSDT week at Ben Nevis. They ll be a couple of hundred riders plus followers add in the spectators etc and B&B wise it might be a tight squeeze.. As old Fred Pontin used to say '' Book early!''

Following on from the topic in T&MX this week about some discruntled rider not getting a ride yet again in this years SSDT. I am very passionate about the SSDT, and most people know how many years I have ridden this event, so I feel justified to offer my comments and support to one of the best trials in the world. Firstly the club have a very dificult job in who gets an entry, this selection process takes years of being part of the committee and has not been made easier this year with the sad passing away of Willie Dalling, so people should not forget that. Mark has taken over the reins and will continue to do a good job and the selection process has been made for …

Does anyone know how the new dinner stop arrangement works. It says in the entry paper work that lunch is included. Is it still the burger van? Or are we all off to the local hostelry for a pub lunch
