Looks like the usual mix of fun and nonsense but it's nice to see things mixed around a wee bit. That new bit on Wednesday could be fun and I can't remember the last time there was no Callert or Blackwater in the trial, then again leaves the ground for another year...looks like fun Meant to say as well, looks like a bit less road miles as well, Wednesday 20 road miles out of 77, Thursday maybe 30 out of the 108 are off road and on Saturday almost all off road maybe bar about 6 miles...fantastic.

That will be repeated this year and any TC reader is more than welcome, regardless of whether you're a rider, observer or a just a spectator in town for the event. Drop me an email for details/Contact No. during the week if you want to come along - trialscentral AT trialscentral.com

Just a quick reminder that every entrant must have insurance that covers them under the Road Traffic Act in order to start the 2009 SSDT. For those of you who already have this cover included in your own insurance, you must provide the name of your insurer and your policy number on the Signing On Form that you hand into us at registration. For those of you who don't have this cover within your own insurance, you can sign up to our blanket cover for

I've decided to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation which aims to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses while i attempt this years SSDT. I know a lot of people are struggling financially right now, so only donate if you can. The total i raise will be matched by my private sponsors from my bike-shows so hopefully anything anyone can spare will be worth double. This year I've dropped down from a 280 Gas Gas and have been riding a 125 which i intend to get round scotland on (seemed a good idea at the time). My training's been going well and the addition of 24kg, 28kg kettlebells and a 50kg sandbag have proved suitably hard so …

Looking at the front page of Trials Central it looks more like Trials Rental this week. With all the UK importers offering new machines for rent for this years SSDT. I have bought bikes for the event, and rented bikes, and I must add, renting is the way to go, you get an new machine ready to go at the start of the week, full backup through the week, and you can walk away from her at the end of the week without wondering if she is pregnant or not. and go for a

At the rate you lot are going, there won't be any.... Entries closed last Friday, and as of today there are still THIRTY FOUR riders who haven't paid for their places. There are nine unidentified payments in our bank account (listed in a separate topic from last week) so that leaves twenty-five people who haven't paid, but haven't got in touch with us either to let us know their situation. I can't allocate riding numbers until we know who is riding and who isn't. Well, I can, but it means that you won't all get to ride with your pals! For everybody's sake, can I ask you to do two things : Check the previous topic and if you have paid over the counter at any of…

  12. Scottish Provincial Press Ltd, the company who produce the official SSDT programme, still have limited advertising space available for the 2009 event. If you think your company could benefit from advertising to the thousands of trials fans that descend on Fort William each year, it might be worth giving them a shout. There are all sorts of advertisements you can have, from a few lines to a double-page spread. To get more information, contact Michelle Martin at Scottish Provincial Press - you can call her on 01463 732 223 (Ext 124) or you can email her by clicking HERE.

Oh no !! Very sad news. Ally Finlay a ex-secretary of SSDT trials died last Monday. He was a good secretary some years ago, before Mairi and Big John Moffat. I'm proud to have known you Mr.Ally ! Rest in pace Ally and my condolences to Blair and Margaret Finlay.

This is just a quick note to those of you who have already paid your entry fee, and a warning to those of you who have still to do so! If you choose to pay either cash or a cheque over the counter, the bank may not pass on any reference that you give them - we are receiving these payments in our account and the only reference quoted is the sort code of the bank that you've made the payment at, meaning that we have no means of matching your payment to your entry. To those of you who have already paid over the counter... At the moment there are six unidentified payments in our account, paid on 26th January, 4th February, 9th February, 11th February and 12th February. If…

For those of you following the progress of the SSDT entries, this is just a quick note to confirm that we've now exceeded the 270 places available. There's still two weeks to go before entries close, so there will definitely be a ballot for places again this year. We'd thought that entries would be much fewer than normal in the current climate, but it doesn't seem to have put many of you off! For those of you who might be interested in making some money out of the SSDT, Scottish Provincial Press Ltd (who publish our official programme) have just started selling advertising space. It's reasonably priced and reaches thousands of trials fans in May every year, so if you …
