Should I ever be lucky enough to get a ride in the Pre 65 Scottish, and as my Cub wouldn't be popular, can the panel of experts, Chaired by Big John, please put this machine through scrutineering The carb is made by Mick Uni ( the well known ex pat) and they were around in the 60's I believe? Hi Everybody -- I have a Greeves alloy tank (the 2 gallon version) marked with the number 37 on a splash of light green paint. As we all probably know this is almost certainly marking from the SSDT. I suspect that the tank was used - 1968 or 1969 or 1970 or perhaps 1971 but have no hard evidence to support this. Can anyone tie a riders name to this information. Just to reiterate the bike would have been a Greeves or Triumph/Greeves and the year would have probably been the late sixties, a year when a light green marking paint was used.

This year SSDT 1 hour DVD is now shipping. I have a bunch leaving today but if you haven't already requested a copy now is the time. This DVD video was intended to be free of charge. However when I tote up all the costs involved in not just staying in Fort William for a weeks filming but buying DVD

Just published an article on my "blog" called "The First Week of May" with all the fun and preparation for the SSDT back in the 70's. Includes an interesting quote from a young (then) Martin Lampkin on how to ride the event. To all attending, good luck, I wish I were there...... maybe next year? Tony

Received this as a news article, but it's not really appropriate for the news section of the site so: I am looking for a lift home on Monday 2 from the last group of sections in the trial - presumably Lagnaha - to South Manchester or a railway station in Lancashire from where I can catch a trian to Stockport. Obviously I'll share the cost. If you can help, please phone me asap on 07928 171429, Mike Edwards.

  12. Planning my first visit up the SSDT this year. Will be taking my 5yr lad - so, looking for advice on spectating areas that we can get to - without too much of a hike away from where I can park a car? Any recommendations? Thanks!

Just a reminder for those of you that don't read the front page...SSDT entries close on Friday. If you're sending a form in this week, it must be with us by Friday, as the ballot will be done over the weekend and late entries will be too late....no excuses accepted! If you've posted yours and are dubious about whether or not it will arrive by Friday, email ssdtoffice@ssdt.wanadoo.co.uk - that way I'll make sure your name is included in the ballot so that you don't miss out. Good luck to those of you who have been organised enough to get your form in on time!

Both Alexz Wigg (Gas Gas) and Sam Connor (Beta) went unpenalised today to become joint leaders of the 2013 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) after the first two days of competition. Enjoying the warmer and drier weather Wigg and Connor, who are both previous SSDT winners from 2010 and 2005 respectively, made light work of the new route that incorporated several new and testing sections. Yesterday's initial leader Michael Brown (Gas Gas) lost three marks today after having gone clean on day one. He now finds himself equal overall and on the same marks as Dougie Lampkin (Gas Gas) who dropped two marks today, one of those being in the last hazard of the day. These two more fan…

Looking at the front page of Trials Central it looks more like Trials Rental this week. With all the UK importers offering new machines for rent for this years SSDT. I have bought bikes for the event, and rented bikes, and I must add, renting is the way to go, you get an new machine ready to go at the start of the week, full backup through the week, and you can walk away from her at the end of the week without wondering if she is pregnant or not. and go for a

the guys that I ride with all use Hebo auxilliary fuel tanks fitted behind their front number plates. This gives us extra range when out on the moors. I didn't notice anyone using one in the SSDT and wondered if they are not permitted by the trial regulations. Anyone know?
