For those of you following the progress of the SSDT entries, this is just a quick note to confirm that we've now exceeded the 270 places available. There's still two weeks to go before entries close, so there will definitely be a ballot for places again this year. We'd thought that entries would be much fewer than normal in the current climate, but it doesn't seem to have put many of you off! For those of you who might be interested in making some money out of the SSDT, Scottish Provincial Press Ltd (who publish our official programme) have just started selling advertising space. It's reasonably priced and reaches thousands of trials fans in May every year, so if you …

This year SSDT 1 hour DVD is now shipping. I have a bunch leaving today but if you haven't already requested a copy now is the time. This DVD video was intended to be free of charge. However when I tote up all the costs involved in not just staying in Fort William for a weeks filming but buying DVD

SSDT Secretary and all round good lass - our very own Highland Lassie - is getting on her push bike and pedaling for Leukaemia Research charity. Few people fully appreciate the time, effort and commitment that HL gives to motorcycle trials - not just to the SSDT but she also helps in other events such as timekeeping the Scott. If you want to say a small thank you to her please read what follows and give a little to the very worthwhile cause. I will let the words of HL tell you the detail "Some of you may have heard of Pedal For Scotland, but for those who haven't, it's a charity cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh - 51 miles in total, and it's taking place on Sunday…

Just a brief note to say that following lots of hard work the SSDT committee can confirm that they have resolved the re-fueling issues for the 2009 event. Some details have yet to be firmed up but the good news is that the event will be on and the club will be in a position to provide a re-fueling service. As far as costs are concerned we are working to keep these to a minimum but there will undoubtedly be some increase to cover essentials such as provision of vehicles and equipment. We will be working on this over the next month and hope to have finalised things by mid October. Watch this space. Mark

Just wanted to say what a great job EK and G2F have done on the Observed 2008 book - it arrived through the door yesterday and I sat looking through it for about an hour before I realised I'd left the car and house doors wide open! The pictures are obviously stunning, but the layout and design of the book is beautifully done and really sets the pictures off. Good job all round - cheers folks!

Hi Everybody -- I have a Greeves alloy tank (the 2 gallon version) marked with the number 37 on a splash of light green paint. As we all probably know this is almost certainly marking from the SSDT. I suspect that the tank was used - 1968 or 1969 or 1970 or perhaps 1971 but have no hard evidence to support this. Can anyone tie a riders name to this information. Just to reiterate the bike would have been a Greeves or Triumph/Greeves and the year would have probably been the late sixties, a year when a light green marking paint was used.

Well at last I've had time to look though and sort all the video from one of the TC camera's out this year. I've compiled a file of the week as a taster for you. It's on google video SSDT 2008. Oh some of Matt's helmet cam stuffs included too. I've also got all the video from this camera sorted by day, section and rider name and there's 675 clips totalling 30Gb or more. I'd love to be able to sort out a way of making it available like Andy does with the photos but I dont have the knowledge or facilities. Maybe Andy will have some ideas. I'll be sending it all to him soon but I'm in Korea so it may take a few days to get to him. Edit: BTW it's 49mins long so get a coffee…

The winker (deliberate typo) who scraped my car, but drove on without leaving a note saying they'd hit me. I always follow the rules that were set down years ago regarding parking at sections - always get behind the white line if there is one or ensure your car is totally off the road. Given where my car was parked over the week and the height of the scrape it was almost certainly a van (and a filthy white one at that) and therefore almost certainly one of the "support vehicles" travelling round and therefore a Trials person who hit it - which makes it pretty disappointing that they didn't have the balls to admit to it.

Been going to the SSDT a few years now and still don't know the guy who interviews on the finish ramp or in charge of the Mic at the presentation............................ Now I may upset his family, but he needs to retire and talk about a subject and and maybe people he knows because it seems he knows Jack S**t about trials or the people who take part!!! So one of the highlights of the week was at the presentation when Dougie had enough of him took the microphone out of his hand and did his speech.............hell of a result

I saw her throughout the week and I have to give credit to this lass for winning the Ladies trophy. She beat the reigning Ladies World Champion - Iris Kramer and also Maria Conway. Donna's a tiny wee lass who you'd never think could hike a bike round the Scottish for six days, but she did. Not only that, but she was always cheerful and had time for a laugh and a bit of banter. She does, however, need some work on her press presentation

Hello People. My daughter has left her XC-Tinc, yellow trials jacket at the Lower Mamore section "C" today ( Saturday). We went back later in the day but it had gone. If anyone perhaps knows the where abouts of said jacket, I would appreciate it if you could let me know either through this post or give me a call on 07881 495025. I will gladly pay any postage to have it returned. Thanks.

For all you riders competing in the SSDT this year I would recommend you visit HERE and order youself a quality photo of ''Your Holiday in the Highlands'' I am not on any commission for pluging this only to say I have ordered a couple of photo's from Andy and they are quality, so it is worth you spending a bit of brass as it is only a samll amount of what you spent last week up there on keeping your bike going or keeping yourself lubricated in the evening on BEER!!! As Andy says the money goes back into our sport so another worthwhile reason for doing it.
