Hi all, I have recently aquired a 1984 Armstrong 250 with a Hiro engine, or should I say re-aquired as I used to own this bike some twenty years ago, Anyway she is in quite a state now and is going to take a fair bit of work to get her back to usable condition. My biggest concern is the state of the front forks, there is quite a lot of surface rust on the chrome sections and I don't know if this can be easily rectified or not and would appreciate any feedback from readers. Otherwise the wheels need rebuilding, frame needs repainting as does the crankcase, new brakes and chain & sprockets & cables etc and we should be about there. The engine still seems sound enou…

Hello, the attached picture is of an Enfield Starmaker i am trying to identify the forks. I need some for the Johnny Britain works 1964 ISDT bike that Hitchcocks motorcycles have acquired. As far as we know they were made by Reynolds, most likely built by Ken Sprayson for the ISDT bike. He made some similar ones for Geoff Dukes Norton so few questions any idea where I can get a set ? we’re they used on any other trials/scrambles bikes ? any idea who could make a pair ? thanks Richard

It’s about time I started again on the Cub prep. I’d appreciate your opinions on the following 2nd gear 26/19 - is it worth the effort and expense? PVL or HPI - the only experience I’ve had with PVLs is to understand they are pretty basic with little advance. thanks in anticipation

In my garage today I came across an old trophy, BSAOC Walter Wragg Trophy Trial trophy, with the name R Ackerill and 1963 inscribed. Anybody able to give me any more info', please? I can't remember how long I've had it and know it arrived in a filthy state in a box of bits.

Hi All, Starting a project on an ‘89 Aire. I don’t have the forks to go with it so looking at my options (budget friendly). I’ve never tinkered with or even ridden a motorbike so don’t have any knowledge to go off. What are my options of forks/wheels? I assume getting something period correct will be my best option for getting something that will fit? Is it just a case of making sure the forks fit with the 35mm yokes that I have? Or if I get a full set with different yokes is it just headtube dimensions to check? I.e if theres upside down forks that I can find. I’m not overly fussed about making it factory corrects just looking to get it usable so don’…

I rode in the Cotswolds Cups yesterday the 1st round of the 2014 Sammy Miller Champions, who was there himself on a BSA. The going was slippery to say the least but a good day out. Who else was there, are there any pictures?

Hi, I'm going to change my rear wheel from a 19 inch to a 18 so I can run a softer compound tyre. I like the idea of a Michelin xlite. I've only found tubeless versions, do they do a tubed version? Do I just run a tube inside like a normal tubed tyre or do I need to do any modifications? It's on a Norton 500t so it quite a heavy bike. Thanks, Pete.

Hi, I have recently rebuilt my montesa forks which are fitted to a Francis Barnett for trials, everything seemed fine when i rebuilt the forks with new oil seals. The problem is one minute they are fine, compressing and returning in a smooth fashion then for no apparent reason they will only compress about half way with no return, I have studied the assembly drawing time and time again and I cannot understand what the problem is. Anyone any ideas? Nige

Sitting here on another airport Monday wonder what are chances of getting a twinshock entry for the Manx 2 day next year ? The Wye Valley Trevor Hunt Trophy trial is probably the best apart from the pre65 Scottish and the Manx 2 day and I can't enter the former. Anyone know when the regs are out ? And what's the odds of getting an entry ? There's a few tw-shock riders thinking of entering and aware that numbers are limited.

Hello, I have a Wassell trials bike with a Sachs 1251/5A in it. I have heard of and would like to put a BSA motor in it. I'm a two stroke guy and don't know anything about BSA single 4 strokes. What type / model / size should I be looking for? This bike will be 100% Trials. Any help and advice will be appreciated. If anyone has a different or better idea on a 4 stroke motor for this frame, please chime in. Thanks

Hi All Here is my first posting after many hours of reading some very interesting threads. I am looking for comments on upgrading fork spring to the HFS Clubman or Expert (not that I am an expect rider, but one can live in hope) system for my newly purchased Fantic 200 FM350. Is the extra £100+ over a set of standard new springs justified? The fork upgrade will go along the Rockshocks I plan to buy for the rear. Cheers Mike

Yes; on any monday breaking away from work and enjoying trials and life with a friend. And yes; it´s me on a Montesa; in fact I like Montesas as much as Bultacos (not Ossa of course; useless irons...).
