I bought the attached AJS from a bloke called John?? in Lincoln begining of this year. It was listed on good ole eBay but we had a deal before the auction ended. He told us that he had only been out on the bike once but didn't like trials & as he was a regular Classic MX BSA B50 racer was going to stick with that???????????. I asked him to send on previous owners details but nothing has arrived. Was told the bike might be registered so in short does anyone recognise the bike. Any help would be appreaciated. Haynes manual says you have to remove clutch, alernator, primary chain tensioner, and engine sprocket simultaniously (probably dropping all 25 beatings in the process) before removeing the cluth back plate to get access to gearbox sprocket. Is this the only way or are there any shortcuts ? Thanks.

Hi I wonder as a new member if there are any of you out there with experience of modding the pre 9E engines . I'm hoping to get back into trialling my Norman fitted with mildly modded 8E . If we start with the exhaust I made a tidy but confused system with the front pipe crossing over from left to right around the front downtube and over the top of the flywheel / gearbox to enter a transverse tubular pot of two chambers and very short with the tailpipe blowing down onto the rear chain . Neat yes , confusing the charge I suspect so No.1 on my list; any thoughts ? Would like to keep it high level really , considered just cut and shut of standard silencer from Armours . Nex…

I recently bought a Montesa Cota 172 project which needs shocks. As it is doubtful I will ever use the bike for competition I don’t need anything too flash, but I don’t want rubbish either. Ideally I would like something that: 1) Works as well or better than the original shocks would have. 2) Something that will be good quality and last well. I had found a couple of choices and was hoping to get some feedback from somebody who has actually had experience with them. I am in the process of doing a complete restoration on very original Cota 348 51m - i have the original owners handbook but i have been looking for a workshop or repair manual for the last 3mths - no luck! Could anyone out the in cyberspace please put me out of my misery. Is it possible to use a similar model ? All ineed is the engine rebuild sections. Cheers Des

I'm in need of a speedo for my 3ta. Not interested in cheap Indian made copies. What I have is the square type speedo drive with the cable drive at the top looking at the rear hub from the right. . 1961 would have had a tick-tick -tick chrono, originals are terrible price!
