Does anyone out there have issues with their Beta using too much fuel? At first I thought it could be something simple-like a dirty carb or float issues, but having thoroughly checked and cleaned it-it is still not quite right? Anyone with suggestions will be appreciated!

Hi Folks, I've got an 03 rev3 200, and aftre reading Neonsurge's post I started to get a little concerned about play in my flywheel. This may just be me being over worried, but it may not. If i rock my flywheel backwards and forwards with my hand you can feel a small amount of play, and there is a slight tapping, at first a mate told me it was normal and just play in the gearbox, but then I thought it might be the piston rings, and then I suddenly thought it could be play in my big end, there isn' any play in the main bearings and i think it is running as it should. Is this normal or anything to worry about??? cheers, Bob

I picked up a brand new Beta 200 yesterday. The dealer told me not to park it facing down hill as the 'carbs on these are prone to flooding'. I took the bike for a run up and down a few small hills and petrol began to pour out of the carb over flow. Even when I got the bike into the car park and on the level, the petrol continued to pour out until I turned off the petrol tap. Has anyone else had this problem? Mod Edit - email address removed as the spambots will pick it up and fill your inbox with crap!

My son recently bought a 2006 250cc REV 3 as his first bike. We came across the usual sticking clutch on which I carried out a poor fix (new plates probably required as a result). However, this helped but, after being stood for a couple of weeks, it is now impossible to put in gear without it stalling. He's now just dropped the oil, which was very milky, which lead us to think there's a leak from the coolant. Other posts suggest any coolant leak to the clutch will cause or make clutch drag worse. After draining the coolant and removing the pump cover, it's quite obvious the inner clutch case is absolutely shot. In fact, there are 2 small holes right through the case!…

My Rev3 has recently started to run very hot. Last week I noticed it starting to pink a bit and this got progressively worse. The fan's on all the time and although it hasn't actually boiled over I think it was pretty close. It also seems to have quite literally burned most of the packing out of the silencer and it's generally pretty unhappy. I assumed that I'd managed to put a hole or tear in one of the carb boots but they both seem OK. I've pulled the flywheel and the woordruff key's fine and the timing's spot-on. The exhaust isn't badly carboned up (in fact, it's pretty clean). I've stripped the carb and everything seems OK there too. At this point I'm wondering if t…

Hi, I finally have got the chance to start riding again after several years out. Last time I rode I had to use my brother's spare 95 techno, due to more problems with the scorpa I had, the techno started making a strange hissing noise, from the front of the engine block, in time with the compression, it didn't seem to be anything to do with the exhaust. I immediatley stopped it and pushed it back to the van. We were planning to get it looked soon after but this never happened, but now I've moved house and have a nice garage to work in Iam keen to get it sorted again. I haven't started it since but it will turn over and there is still a hissing noise? Any one have …

  10. Carb keeps overflowing when it sbeen standing for a while, weeks rather then days. I,ve tapped the float bowl with a piece of wood to help free up the float if its snagged in the carb but genrally makes no difffernce. After a bit of warming up as she starts really easy , it seems to stop overflowing but I could be wrong as it could be collecting oin the bash plate area. Any tips on curing this , what is the proper float height ? I've cleaned the needle valve and it appears to be sealing ok when the carb is off for testing. I need to fit a wrist lanyard as I think all trials call for these now , do you have to butcher the electrics to fit these as I would prefe…

Hi everyone, I have just purchased a 2001 Rev3 that has had some running time, but has done a bit of standing still in someone's shed. Anyway, firstly i cant seem to keep any pressure in the front brake, even after hours of bleeding and taking the caliper apart, although i still cant see any leaks.... Secondly, the bike seems to run out of steam in all the gears after about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. The engine doesn't die, but it feels like its hitting a rev limiter on a sports bike!! As I've said, i'm completely new to these types of bike, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Lost earth without me realising on a sunday on my '03 250. Throttle stuck, open, pressed kill switch and then lost spark. Spent hours reading these forums and realised what had happened. Pretty certain that CDI had gone. Phoned BVM on thursday and they sent me CDI, Stator and coil (just incase) on special delivery. CDI fitted and spark back on friday. New earth fitted to coil as per instruction on this forum on saturday. Trial sunday, all well. Coil and stator returned to BVM on monday. Refund for unused parts tuesday! Fantastic service from BVM and thank you all for the info on this forum.

Hi, About a month ago this strange Tizz/High pitch Buzzing sound started on My 2010 Evo 290, Then the week after it dissapeared and didn't come back, Strangly Yesterday it came back & it sounds as though to me it is coming somewhere from near the flywheel, had the ignition cover off and everything seems to be running ok inside, the noise has no effect on the engine, still runs perfect. At first i suspected it was the Fan rubbing against the radiator, but it wasn't that. The bike isn't overheating, the noise doesn't go away when you pull the clutch in, also noticed it only does it when the engine is warm, not when cold. gearbox oil is ok and the bike is running pe…

Hi there Could anybody tell me why rear shocks often have a spherical bearing. It's not as if the shock moves from side to side in the swing arm or does it twist a bit ? They only go up and down don't they. Why not a roller bearing or ballrace ? The lower shock bearing on my beta is a bugger to get out and usually requires a pneumatic press to get it out which I don't have. It's in such a position that it is allways going to get a lot of abuse from either dirt flying off the tyre or water from the jetwash. Has anybody machined a bush system instead or fitted a different type of bearing which would give a greater longevity and be easier to replace. The spherical beari…

I have a 2014 Evo 200 on order The parts manual on line doesn’t say what the STOCK spring rates are for this bike. So my questions are: 1 - What are the stock original shock and fork spring rates for this bike? Beta has accessory springs available for this bike with the lowest rated shock spring being 8.0 for 175-200 lbs and the lowest rated fork spring being .88 for 180-210 lbs 2 - Are the lowest rated accessory springs you have for this bike the SAME as what comes stock? 3 - OR are they the next stiffer size above stock? My reason for asking is that I'm a little over 200 with gear on and wondered if the stock springs will be stiff enough? It seems that if #2…

Hello All, The red metal vents has started to separate from my rear fender on my 2014 Beta 4t. They appear to be held on by some kind of silicone. The fender is curved and the metal is fairly straight which is why it has come loose. I would like to try some other more permanent adhesive but I'm not sure what will be safe to use on the plastic fender. I also need something that will adhere to the metal. Does anyone know the type of plastic or has had success re-gluing the vents? Thanks, Mark
