My 300 evo 4T came with a chain that has a half link. I dont’ like non-O ring chains around here- I ride in the wet and mud a lot and I find standard chains wear out very quickly. I I have used DID VTX2 chains on my OSSAs, they are narrow and will fit with just a bit of trimming on guide. BUT- they don’t make a half link for those. If I extend to a full length, the axle won’t go back far enough. If I take the half out- it won’t go far enough forward. anyon know of a narrow ‘O’ ring chain that has half links? mark

  2. As I am currently in the market for a new trials bike ( my first ) I have come across a couple of adverts (one in offroadmart particularly) that states there has been an "essential" bearing conversion done. Machine in question is a Beta Evo 250. Is this a "thing"? an essential conversion? is it something I should be aware of and avoid those that have not had it done? If you hadn't guessed I'm quite clueless regarding these machines (that will change in time). I am aware of clutch issues but am mechanically competent enough (engineer with 18+ years on the tools) to address these, likewise any hot start issue I have read about. All I know so far is what I have read on thi…

  3. Hi all, Ive been working on my 2006 beta rev 3 trails bike for days now trying to find the cause for an issue im having. Bike runs and idles ok although the exhaust does pop a little but im unsure if this is normal with it being a two stroke. The issue im having is that when i rev it up even on the stand and in neutral, the bike takes way longer than expected to return back down to idle. Ive chased a whole host of potential problems and I cant seem to find any faults. ive checked the airbox for cracks or holes and found none, ive checked the airbox to carb rubber boot and found no issues there and then ive taken the carb apart and cleaned out all the ports by s…

Hi all Relatively new rider, currently have an unreliable old Rev 3 which I enjoy riding but is in need of a full strip down and rebuild (engine & suspension) I bought it to see if the sport was for me, and it is so I would like to get myself something a bit more modern. I'll rebuild the Rev 3 regardless but want to do it as a winter project, at the moment I'm trying to get as many bike hours as possible. I have around £3000 to spend, and I want to get the most "future proof" bike I can for my money as I would be intending to keep it for a while. I am keen to stick with a Beta so have been considering where best to put my money Looking at current p…

  6. After a reasonable search of the forum I know that it is possible to change out the sub frame assembly and airbox of the 2000-01 Rev 3 250\270 for the later 02-07 airbox. Has anyone actually done this and what was the cost? Pictures are always a good thing if you can share those, too. I noticed that there were as many posts supporting the original box as there were advocating a change to the newer box. Filters for the 02-07 are easy to come by but I've not had much luck getting my hands on the right filter since it's such an odd duck. I'll eventually have one after getting the 02-07 filter shipped to me by mistake. It's a shame we can't all use the same filter...I c…

Hi I am going to overhaul my Upside down forks on my 00 Rev 3. Any tips greatly appreciated. They are weeping slightly so seals are going to be replaced but would like info on set up.I have the levels from the Beta site. One area of confusion (it does'nt take much) for me is which fork is classed as the left one, looking at the bike from the front or looking at the bike from ride position. Also tips on the rear paoli suspension set up adjustments would be good if anyone has info.

Hi All, I bought an 01 rev3 250, I bought it as a non runner. (Didnt spark) I bought a new ht coil, lead and spark plug cap that didnt fix the problem. I realise that these bikes have cdi and stator problems can a newer model be fitted to cure the electrical problems? Also how do I test both the cdi and stator to ID the problem?

Hiya chaps, just purchased an 01 250 to ease me back into trials after 20 years away !! The bike seems to be in good order and doesn't look like its done a lot but when riding it it doesn't seem to have a very high rev limit and is possibly running rich. I've had the carb in bits, cleaned and set the float level, and fit a new needle and air filter. 1 I could just do with knowing which grove the clip should be in on the needle 2 what the setting is for the air screw, and is it in for rich and out for lean ? cheers for now Stu

I have an 01 250 rev3 that i have been refreshing and i am trying to find a power source for the headlight. The previous owner hacked the wiring looms so this is what i have. There is a large yellow wire coming out of the generator which go's into the regulator. I'm guessing this yellow is the hot lead to power the acceseries. THis yellow does not come out of the regulator. What comes out of the regulator is two blue wires which go out to the thermostat and return to the regulator from the thermostat. Then there is a red and a black wire which go out to the fan and return to the regulator. There is no wire for the light acceseries? I thought of jumping off one of the ther…

Can anyone shed some light on this pic. The carb in my 02 Rev 3 has a ball instead of a needle and seat. I plan to put a needle in it and was wondering if it came this way originally or if it was some kind of a mod? The bike was leaking fuel badly when parked so I took the carb apart to clean it (which it look very clean to me) and blew out the ball which so far has stoppe the leakinf of fuel. The bike runs great but there's the mystery of this ball. I'm very new to trials so this inquiring mind want to know. One guy said it looks like a snowmobile set up.
