SWM

As above, the exact colour or colour code for the SWM frames still eludes me, I was told the Subaru WRX blue (code 02C) was a close match, and indeed it is close but still not close enough for me. I know I'm being pedantic here, but since I've started paint stripping my Jumbo which was obviously re-painted in the wrong shade of blue by a previous owner (refer attached pic), I have found traces of the original slightly metallic and darker blue underneath and it's not quite the same as Subaru WRX blue. Any advice appreciated. Also still chasing info on my previous post regarding seat/tank/shroud arrangement.

As above, can anyone please advise what is the correct fitment? The attached pic is something I found from an old post here on TC. I thought mine came with the bracket attached under the shroud(unlike the pic), I pulled it apart months ago and now I'm not sure. Next time anyone has their Jumbo seat off could you please check and post back here. Cheers.

Hi, I fitted new carbs to my bikes and did some testing on Sunday morning. Also tried my action cam out for the first time. The 320 is sorted but the 125 still soots up the plug after a short while. I'm scratchin my head and a few other places besides. The carb is brand new, original spec. I have fresh 102 octane with no methanol mixed at 50:1 full synthetic oil. The exhaust has been cleaned and the middle box repacked. The timing is spot on and a brand new NGK BP5ES plug. The filter is clean, there are no leaks, new crank seals. To be continued...........

Noticed the brake lever arm being a little reluctant coming off when I was practicing on Sunday....did the usual 'remove the dipstick from the van and dribble a tad of oil around the arm desperatation trick'....its bad maintainance on my part, no excuse. The more keen eyed would have noticed two dipsticks in my van on Sunday, myself being the other. The old girl since being rebuilt 2 years ago (?), has only had the carb cleaned once and the gearbox oil dropped 5 or 6 times, in that time she has lead an 'on and off' life as my enthusiasm has gone from peaks to troughs...I'd rather lay on a Norfolk beach than do a trial in the summer and watch my 5 year enjoying herself…

I keep hearing of this test and finally found it today. What no one ever seems to mention (or I've missed) is how old this test is, published in 1978, although that may not be any cause for concern, but what is, is the use of Castor Bean oil, not mineral based oil. I used to be an automotive test engineer and then went onto pure combustion research and a few of things from this report really bug me, all from the comfort of my armchair & not really knowing jack s**t about 2 stroke R&D. Pulling the trigger on a new rear tyre, my riding buddy tells me I should go for a IRC locally at £75 inclusive. Are they OK on SWM standard rims? Currently running a 4 year old Michelin, that's hard as nails, which has never sat right on the rim properly, one side is always higher than the other no matter how many times we fit the tyre so I look like (yes, I know and ride like!) Currently using a slow action throttle on mine AND lower gearing than standard.....and she is quite a tame old thing at the moment. For ref' Domino use a black throttle tube for slow and white tube for quick.

This came with my own Speedy and I've been meaning to post it for some time, the last two pages make for good in the field findings. From reading thru it appears it must of originated from a US dealer due to the mention of Watkins Glen world round. Has anybody found a suitable replacement for a SWM steel tanked Fuel cap/Petrol Cap? Any help gratefully received. P.S. I've asked Martin already.

Was at a classic trial yesterday and I noticed that some 2 strokes 'four stroke' at idle and some don't. My TL320 SWM always four strokes at idle, is this usual? cheers guys

My Zokes have shrader valves.....air forks are all the cutting edge rage nowadays, pahhh SWM were there years ago. Anyone used air in their forks? If so how did you get on?

Hi guys, just a quick hi, not been around for a while....my fleet of Gixers, other roadbikes, new to me Firestorm, track day car & my love of track days at Snetterton has kept me busy from realising my dream as a World Trials 'Chump'. OK, I dug Speedy out of her hibernation and couldn't free off the clutch, no matter what I did. Next weekend tried again and finally got her to free off but with terrible clutch drag. So yesterday (these things take time!) I stripped the clutch down and my gearbox oil was contaminated with water (again) looking for all purposes like she had done a head gasket - as if watercooled - she was that bad. See…

Hi, has anybody out there had problems with Venhill cables ? I ordered clutch, throttle and frontbrake cables for my 81 125 and 320 and have had the following problems. The brake cables were too short and could not be fitted to the bikes any way even though the cables listed were for Marzocchi forks. The throttle cables fit as long as you only connect one end. The inner is too short or the outer too long on both, whichever way you look at it. The brake cable issue has been solved. Venhill changed them, no problem but now I'm trying to get the throttle cable problem solved. The picture shows the throttle end with the carb end in place. Even when all of the…
