Canada Trials

The first ever Ymir trials event is in the history books now and from all accounts it was a great time had by all. The weather was perfect for both days and the evenings cool for hanging out by the camp fire. The Saturday trail ride saw about a dozen riders in two groups and we all got to see some spectacular scenery. We had twenty two riders registered for the competition and six for the little wheels event. A huge thanks to Pete and Zoe Bustin for hosting the event and thanks again to all people that helped out with scoring, trophies, food, firewood, photography, taking down the sections, the trail guides and Main Jet Motorsports. The event will be held in Tolmezzo/Udine, Italy on September 17, 18. Devon Kenneth D'Argis, Victoria, BC Will Duggan, North Cowichan, BC Jonathan English, Foxboro, ON Jordan Szoke, Brantford, ON There will be no women's team this year. I used to ride trials and enduro bikes in the early 70’s and have had street bikes until about 4 years ago. I thought I might get back into riding trials bikes again. I was hoping to ride a bike before purchasing but that has proved hard to arrange. Ride the vibe has cancelled it’s schools at Ioco and Popkum is open only on weekends. I have attended a couple of trials at Ioco but was unable to take their course due to lack of a bike. If anyone knows where I can get a test ride I’d be grateful for the information. I intend on joining the club I am also wondering if there are any other places to ride nearer to White Rock than Ioco. What brand of bike has the…

After the very successful 2015 BC Provincial Trials Championship took place this year, with record turnouts at venues like Squamish, the participating clubs are please to announce the schedule of events for 2016. We are proud to include a new venue and club for next year, and welcome the South Okanagan Dirt Bike Club. This will see member Ricky Styles and his crew treat all of the riders to a much welcome return to an important part of the province, and an opportunity to show off the clubs great riding in the OK Falls area. Proposal must reference an existing rule, or mention "new", provide a reason for the proposal and be signed by the member. There are 2 deadlines. There is now a new Canadian Trials website online. www.mototrials.ca looks to be a fresh, modern site that will serve our community well and was the creation of Brian Hotovy and longtime trials legend from these parts, Ryon Bell. Only two weeks to go now for the first round of the popular WTC sanctioned Outlaw Series for 2013. This year see's our event return to familiar ground at the property of the Victoria Motorcycle Club. The Outlaw series also counts towards the WTC provincial championsips. As usual, the format continues with Day 1 being for twinshock bikes only. There will be an A class that will ride Intermediate lines, and a B class that will ride the Junior lines. Its always a great time, and the weather looks to be great! So here I was sitting in the backyard - in my shorts - also into a cool one , and I suddenly thought about poor old Taff in Alberta - What a shame here we are, flowers blooming, grass is green and we are out riding every Sunday, but only 9hrs away, Taff will be using 4wd just to get home on the Highway. Now there is that saying in Calgary, that you only have to wait an hour for the weather to change, but the poor sods in Edmonton have had winter since last October. - No wonder all the houses in the OK Valley are being bought up by Albertans. - Did I mention I was also having a beer??

The Glacier House Resort near Revelstoke BC, will host a spectacular weekend of Family fun, on the September 21/22 weekend. - Sponsored by the local Revvy Riders, Dirt Bike Club. The event is expected to attract large crowds of enthusiasts to watch the Trials Display, and Free-style MX, plus take part in many other activities, including Trail rides, and riding at the World Class Enduro-Cross Track, or MX Track.. - A poker run is on the agenda for Sunday, and there are also camping facilities at the resort which features a large swimming pool and hot tub etc.

I am extremely excited to announce that we have arranged to have James Dabill and Jack Price to come to Ioco BC on August 5-6 to host a 2 day trial school. This is the weekend after the TrialGP event in Arizona USA. This is a chance of a lifetime to have 2 riders of this caliber in our backyard to train with and ride with. This past weekend young Patrick Smage from the USA, did what many thought impossible. - he went to Europe and beat the top Youth riders at the Italian World Championship. In order to do this, he not only had to have the natural talent, but also the support of his family and friends, plus the Sherco Distributor. - The costs involved for a "Privateer" are immense with the rewards small in comparison - this is true no matter where the rider is located, but obviously with most Trials action happening in Europe, American or Canadian youngsters, are at a huge dis-advantage, not only because of the costs, but also because of school schedules etc. Much has been written on this…
