Bought this recently, has anyone got an idea of the age and how to check its a 280cc. Will be useful for ordering parts. Also how much play is acceptable of the front disc bobbins? Thanks

Ok, continuing from my previous post. Thanks to a top man on this very here TC, I've got myself a left side crankcase (Cheers Ross). My question is about setting the disc valve timing. Where does the valve sit in relation to TDC and which way round does it sit? Never been into a disc valve motor before. Cheers Graeme

  4. Does anyone have or know where to find the diagrams for the chassis parts diagrams. I have the engine diagrams, but can't seem to find the chassis. I did find a 86TX311 but there are too many differences.

Hi all, I'm trying to find a replacement rear disc (ideally new) for my 93 Climber, anyone any ideas? I've tried EBC and no luck so far. Did Aprilia use the disc on any other models. Nothing showing on e'Bay at the moment either. Thanks Dunc

Any source for Aprilia TXR312 rear sprocket? Does anyone know if the later model Aprilia Climber rear sprockets are the same as the TXR. Trials Shop here in the US is still on back order. All I need to get my TXR going.

In tandem with my other post on reducing compression, i read that some people also reduce the flywheel weight to make the engine more responsive. as i think i intend to do light enduro on it, this would be better. i see the flywheel is a multipart item. any advice on how to set about this ?

  14. Hi guys i'm new on here and to trials. I've just bought an aprilia 280 climber which to be fair is a great bike but i'm having abit of mither getting the front brake to really lock up properly. It has brand new pads and new dot 4 fluid with brembo lines but it has to be pumped up abit when i first go out on it until it starts working anything like it should. Also when i start the bike and put it in gear, the clutch drags slightly but then eases off as the engine heats up. Sorry for the long winded comment lol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

So, I have an Aprilia climber 280, i bought it a few months ago and its a bit tatty! I have replaced the kickstart lever, the brake pads, the gearchange lever and the rear shock. I will be riding it again soon to check if it was worth while or not! I got the kichstart lever and gearchange lever from Andover Norton - they were really helpfull and matched my old parts up in no time at all! The pads were from wemoto - although took 2 months to arrive (although i blame the post not them) the shock was an ebay item but again i was lucky to receive a tidy item! im quite new to trials so i dont have any wonderful hints or tips for the Aprilia crowd but im sure there will b…

  17. Started by ffman,

So further to my earlier post, I acquired a climber 280 cheap as it had been standing for a while and possibly messed about with, or stuck in a shed due to a fault. The clutch appeared seized, not a great surprise if its been sat around, so I stripped it and checked it over and all seemed good and free and clean. However, when I reassemble it, its locked solid. the clutch actuating arm moves and you can feel the springs against it, but you can't disengage it. after hours of fiddling about I tried assembling it with only 2 weak springs (cross flow rocker shaft spacing springs), and then it works ok but obviously not with the engine running. So I measured my spr…

Hi all, I`ve got the chance of a purple climber quite cheap,as its in a bit of a state but when I checked the frame numbers part of them seem to have been altered, the guy gave me the explanation that the local importer changed the numbers when new and as the number reads 93*** it would seem to tie in with the year. The bike is complete and original and with a bit of tlc and a front tyre could be made good just wanted any advice on numbers. Andy in north/east
