OSET Electric Trials Bikes

My son's 16.0 24v. has a lot of friction in the forward direction and even more friction in the other direction. The bike works well, but because of the extra friction the batteries are drained after half an hour. Has anyone opened the electric motor to replace the bearings ? Thanks.

Today when we loaded up to go to a nearby park, I noticed that the black plastic cap was missing from the left fork tube on my older son's 16" 36v. I looked down in, and saw that the inside of the tube was threaded, but the fork seemed to be secured in the triple clamp. We had only ridden for 5 minutes when Owen crashed going through some mulch... "Daddy! My moto is broken!" Sure enough that fork tube had fallen out of the triple clamp and the wheel had spun around like the front wheel on a shopping cart. He was fine, and the bike was OK except for the fork. I discovered that on these RST forks, the right tube has a spring in it, but the left tube is only for stab…

Remove all Advertisements Hi, I have an Oset 16 spider 2007/2008 year electric trials bike for my nephew.A friend got it new and I got it for my nephews I dug it out the other day to get it fixed up for him as he is now at that age. It has a couple of broken wires and I can't seem to find a wiring diagram for it. I have emailed Oset to try and buy one but have had no reply as yet . I was wondering if anyone has one and could mybe take a couple of pictures of the 2 multi plugs near the battery packs thats where the problems are for reference for me so I can repair it. I have attached a couple of pictures of the area. Any help would be much appreciated I have an h…

  4. Hi, I put new grips on my son's 36v bike and now the throttle comes in at half power making it impossible to ride. The grip that I put on the throttle did require a bit of force to go on and I'm concerned I have damaged the throttle position sensor, I have not looked at taking it to pieces yet but was hoping there would be an easy fix before having to strip it. Any advice would be appreciated, cheers, Mark.

I need help. Live in New Zealand, ordered what I was told was a new OSET 12.5 for my 4 year old's birthday, well the bike arrived 2 days before weekend, I unpacked box and put batteries on charge, I could tell it'd been stored for some time. I headed off to work. Friday afternoon, set about fully assembling bike, all good except I couldn't get it to run!. The batteries charge when connected. The key clicks the relay, but no lights on twist throttle. Get a voltage tester out, strip down the bike - seats and covers etc. Can trace voltage into the Controller 24v, and up to twist throttle 24v ( 2 wire connecter), 4.5 v from 3 wire connecter. Anyway nothing makes it go, so …

I find these forums a great source of valuable information, and wanted to add with my review of the first 6 months of my OSET knowledge. I have a girl (5yo) and a boy (8yo). They both started riding the OSET at 4 and 7. I struggled a little with the price but with apparent good resale value and good reviews I overcame this. I bought a new 36V in Mar this year. I live in town, a quiet street with a back yard. Had I bought a 2T gas motor this story would have lasted about a day, but the whirr of the tires is the only sound so no neighbour issues. Getting my kids started with a twist grip and huge torque was a major challenge, it will dump every kid on their behind and…

I've finally tracked down a bike for my lad that isn't the other end of the country! HURAH! 16.0 24v, looks like its had a pretty easy life. Can't wait to show him it! Only problem now is his little sister getting grumpy that she hasn't got one! I have a few upgrades planned already Can anyone explain what a 36v can do over a 24v? I wont be doing it soon, but just trying to understand the benefit.

Hi, my little boy is desperate to get on a trials bike and the Oset 12.5 sounds like the bike for him. He is 3'2" (38 inches) on the Oset site it says up to 46 inches so he'll be good for a while before hitting the max height on it but is there a minimum height and is he tall enough for one? Also, as an electric bike, does this mean that he can literally ride it anywhere (with me present) without me getting hassled?? Most of the time I would look to use the new ground in Milton Keynes but am thinking if we want to pop out for half an hour can we do so?? Thanks

Today we had one of the first part failures on our well used 36v 16. One of the pins of the masterlink sheared off. Over the last two years, the chain has derailed a few times, so it's tough to tell if it failed on its own or if it was pinched btwn one of the sprockets and the swingarm. Regardless, I need to get a replacement masterlink or maybe an entire chain, which I hope to get locally. Does anyone know the size of the chain, and if it is likely to be found at a bicycle shop? Thanks, Pete

  11. Hi all, Ty rode his 12.5 about a week ago with no issues. Today we went to ride, and I found no lights on the throttle, and no power. I thought maybe the charger hadn't been fully seated, and reconnected it, but the charger remained green, and no power came to the throttle. Things I've done: Checked the main fuse above the battery which was good Checked voltage across both batteries (~12v) and the two together ~24 Tried to check resistance across the key switch,( which I was suspect of) I expected to find no current with switch off, and no resistance with switch on, but I couldn't get any current in either position. I then tried jumping the two connectors (elimin…

We have a 12.5 and a 36v in the house, and the boys are at the point of having more endurance than the batteries do (even w/ fresh 10.5ah batteries). What would be the easiest way of charging 2 or 3 12v lead acid batteries off the bike? Do the Oset chargers have the brain in them that monitors the output of the charger, or is that control part of the bike? If that's the case, would I simply need to set the batteries up in series (right voltage to the right charger), and buy a connector that will attach to the Oset chargers? Thanks in advance, Pete

Hi All my lad has a 36v OSET which we have had for 8 months with no problems. We were competing this weekend and the throttle just cut out. Will reset if turned off and on again but cuts out instantly if throttle snatched or at about 1/3 throttle if wound up very slowly. Shows all 3 lights on throttle and had only run for about half hour after an all night charge so dont think it the batteries . Have had all connectors apart and appear to be ok . Could it be throttle itself or motor controller??? . Problem did occur shortly after bike had been dropped in a stream but motor or electrics were not submerged at all and ran for about ten minutes after before problem occured .…

Hi all, just though i'd say hello. I've been looking around for a bike for my youngest son (he will be 4 in May) and spotted these! I believe Martin Sandiford would be my nearest seller in Ramsbottom. I must pay him a visit. £700 is a lot of outlay for a 'i hope he gets the bike bug'. I love the idea that you can take them almost anywhere though. Many thanks... Pete

I am looking at chainging the colour of my daughters 16" Oset as she would like a more girly colour, I was wondering is anyone has tried spraying a trials bike mudguard? Is there a paint that is flexible enough to stay on without cracking? Pete

Little boy got brand new oset 12.5 for xmas and has prob only used for 2-3 hrs max (bloody english weather), its only been used on complete flat ground and never been dropped, the problem I have noticed is the mudguard and center rear wheel arent lined up? The chain and wheel all run true but it seems the left hand side swingarm is a mm lower than the right side so when you stand back and eye the line the wheel looks like it slightly tilts to the left(lower side). I took whole back assembly of and greased and loosened the swingarm pivot and whilst back wheel was off i placed a spirit level across width swingarm and right side is slightly higher, i then loosened the 4 nut/…

Newbie here, just joined forum. Just purchased brand new OSET 12.5 for my little 4yr old boy for christmas, he did have PW50 last year with stabilisers but had so many crashes due to the stabiolisers he ended up too scared to ride it so ended up selling it. He had a quick try out on oset 12.5 and loved it so used the money from the pw and some extra for xmas and purchased a new one. He has all the clothing and boots from when he had pw but would like to purchase a childs trials helmet as the one he has is an mx full face helmet, does anyone in south west area sell them as i would rather him try it on than guess and buy one from the internet. Many thanks...
