OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by gudah,

Anyone seen it yet? Please post pics if you have seen it. Their new MX- bike for 2015 sure looks serious to me but with a 24" concept... Now we are talking..thank you Oset from all us six feet tall kids;-).

Have looked at doing the LiPo conversion and just don't want the hassle of managing that type of battery. I recently put a Shido Lithium Ion battery in my KTM Supermoto and was impressed with the weight saving and performance. So, got me thinking I could put 4 x 12v Shido Batteries (19wh) Link here in the Oset 20. This will save around 70% in weight and should also give a longer run time as they are 19wh (Oset batteries are 10ah) Has anyone tried this, will it work? Looking for any type of input from members who have experience of batteries. Thanks

  6. Hi, Has anyone tried the above on a Mecatecno? Mecatecno only do the standard teeny-tiny chain which Adam has just snapped. The logical choice seems the heavy duty Oset one but looking to see if 1: the sprocket fits and 2: the chain is the right length for a. Mecatecno. Trials UK were very helpful but couldn't guarantee either fit. Or correct chain length. Anyone know anything?

My 7 yr old has just got an Oset 36v, which I can't keep him off, which is great. But the take off from a standstill is really jerky!!! I have researched this, and it appears this is a common issue. I have turned the potentiometer up to max, and it makes no difference other than increase the top speed of the bike, which is great, but we still have the jerky throttle. This makes riding at slow speed, which is the idea of a Trials bike, very difficult. I have been advised to buy a programmable speed controller from Kelly Controllers in the US.. Surely if Oset know of this issue, the programmable speed controller should be supplied with the bike??? Has anybody any f…

Hi all sorry to repeat a subject that has probably been covered many times. Same issue as most really... Want to remove the throttle lag and smooth out power delivery on oset 12.5. I see there are a number of different solutions available (none from oset which is surprising) has anyone used a torque control module from pico amps? http://www.automotive.picoamps.de/en/download_en.htm http://www.automotive.picoamps.de/doc/TorqueModuleOSET.pdf Seems a little steep at 129 plus vat. If anyone has any experience or recommendations I would really appreciate it Cheers Michael

My sons gasgas e12 only lasts about 20mins now, it's a year old and I'm guessing the batteries need re-newing. It's the 36v 16in model, I can get the same 3 batteries for £55 but would rather upgrade if possible, I've read the forum for the oset bikes does anyone know if the same can be done to the gasgas e12, obv I don't want to fry the motor. Also if I was to upgrade to lithium batteries, what's the best size, AH charger ect? Many thanks in advance

  12. I wasn't sure if this has been covered or not. At a local trial here in the Pacific Northwest of the States, a man pitted next to me with two very interesting bikes, Naturally, I forgot to bring a camera that day, and further forgot my new "smart" phone is also a camera. I wish I'd taken some video or photographs of these bikes that day...... An interesting thing, to me, was that these motorcycles were both hand built. Things like the suspension & brakes were sourced, but the frame, swingarm, plastics, & such were built by the man parked next to me in the pits. He's an engineer/welder/fabricator/designer, and did what I considered a very good job at building h…

Just curious why this forum is 99% Oset. After looking at the two smallest models for my 3 year old I was pretty unimpressed with the build quality on the Oset. Ended up getting a Kuberg Start and he's rocking it. Don't get me wrong, both are great bikes and I'm very pleased to have a choice of small electric bikes for my son. Just curious if there was some reason unknown to me why Oset seems to be the preferred brand.

Wasn't sure where to put this but thought some of you might be interested. Plus I pledged so I'm hoping they reach their $100,000 goal so I can get one of those Free-Riders at a $1,500 discount. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1511813482/kuberg-free-rider

Hi, As the title says really who's done it and what sort of issues did you come up against in the process ? Basically I have been in two minds to go down the petrol or electric route as a starter for my 8yr old, really not many decent petrol ones around (been searching for couple of months) unless you start spending £1k + and then you still dont know what sort of a life they have had ! Then of course after watching a few recent trials all the kids seem to be on these Oset bikes and looks like this is the way forward but after being brought up on petrol bikes I suppose that's why I wanted to smell the 2stroke bliss again but that coupled with the obvious noise differen…

Hi all just after some advice. My 3 year old has a bog standard oset 12.5. He's doing really well and enjoying it at a steady pace. However when he sets off it is so snappy and kind of jolts him. Is this normal? Or is there anything we can do to kind of smooth the power out?

If anyone is considering fitting any guards , I can recommend carbon fibre items from KELLEY CARBON . All hand made in the UK . NOT the cheap ABS plastic that cracks and shatters just looking at it !

Hi guys, Just picked up a 2010 Oset 16 36V and noticed an intermittent problem. When the motor is running full open throttle or if the bike is slowing down there is a rubbing noise coming from the motor. It doesn't seem to happen when getting up to speed. First I thought it was from the chain against the plastic casing but in fact its coming from the motor. The sound isn't loud, and initial instinct was a wheel bearing, but is definiately coming from the motor. There doesn't seem to be any play in the bearings as rotation and chain tension seem fine. Has anyone else had a similar problem or any advise before stripping the motor? Also are these motors easy to split…
