OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. I have a Spider 16 which hasnt been used for a long time. Im trying to charge the batteries just to see if the bike actually works as its new to me. I know im gonna have to get new batteries anyway. The charger when connected to the mains just show a green light, the online manual suggests it should be red then green when batteries are charged, this one is green without being connected to any batteries. Any ideas?

Ok... so I made the mistake of "Just going to do one thing..." to Gavin's OSET.. The Mod bug can happen any time anywhere.. Here's how it started.. Then I added Bars and Grips.. Then it happened.. I just started to change the back wheel... More to come later today

Does anyone know of an alternative rear tyre to the Kenda 2.7 x 16 for the Oset 16"? Ideally one which is a bit knobblier as they seem to struggle on muddy sections with the lighter riders on them. Also the mechetechno 12" seems to have more traction? I wonder if this is due to better frame design or/ shock is better quality??

Hello, For those, like me, who uses the OSET 16" for full cross rather then trial... You can buy 16" cross tires from the Kuberg e cross 16". They fit perfectly. Greetings

hello, I've read about Ian experimenting with nicer Kelly controls... and Li-xxx battery packs. I work at Caterpillar in powertrain engineering. I work in the same industrial park as firefly energy. http://www.fireflyenergy.com/index.php?opt...ge&Itemid=1 if you haven't heard about them, and I'm guessing you haven't... they make a structurally different (but chemically same) lead acid battery. they can be fully discharged (to zero) without damage... last 4x more cycles than anything, etc..... the problem is, they currently only sell "group 31" size batteries for on-highway trucks. anyway, getting them to offer a motorcycle sized battery is likely years of…

Quick question, anyone know what the legality around riding these small Oset's are in parks/commons/pavements around the UK? Don't want to be doing anything we shouldn't be doing so thought I'd check first.

Hi guys My boy (2.5yrs) is a true trials rider. He HAS TO ride through every bit of mud he can find. How do I clean his bike? Im presuming that I cant hose the bike down due to the electronics. Please dont say use a toothbrush.

Hi all. Firstly let me apologise if this is a dumb question. If at all possible, i would like a way of limiting the power of the 24r for trail riding. sort of a low power mode, Somewhere in the range of 250w - 500w to make it sort of legal to ride trails. I know its not going to be strictly legal in a de-tuned mode, But the idea behind it is, I would like to ride it in a "trials" way at weekend, but then have the ability to switch to a low power mode to limit the draw on the battery and improve range. I would have thought a 48v 23ah battery could potentially power and ebike for quite a fair few miles. The main question i am asking is this: can i do the above using the cur…

  12. As above?

  13. Good morning guys. a note for any adults or big kids considering an Oset for them self. I have followed the development of the Oset bike for some years now, mostly with a tear in my eye thinking "where were these when i was 8". However, after seeing videos of some guys who are obviously not 8-12 years old, doing some incredible stuff on them i figured i needed one. 3 months in and i am glad i did. Now, i am not a teenager, not even in my 20's, and i am nowhere near the stated weight limit so obviously the moment i stood on it the warranty was pretty much gone. But that really isn't an issue. these are so well built. The only modifications i have had to carry out are…

Hi, Can I put fatter than my current 20x2.5 tyres on the back wheel of my 20.0? If so, where would I get them? If not, I guess I need a new back wheel and tyre combo -again, which and where to buy? Any advice? Cheers CG

I was hoping someone was still active on this Site and had some advice to help get my Grandsons bikes ready. The Oset website has little info and seems to be not updated. Can someone help find a online manual or print version for a 16r and 20r.? Specifically I'm looking for info regarding the three adjustments (what they control) located on the backbone of the frame. I also would like to understand the suspension adjustments on the forks as well. If there is a active Oset online community that I'm missing please point me in the right direction. Regards, NJtrials

I just got a used 20, the batteries are pretty much shot but rode it 3 times for 10 ish mins. The foot peg mounts are bending and the bolts are coming loose. Im a little over the weight limit at 240. wondering if I shouldn't just weld some on or is there another way? I have a CNC in my garage so I may try making some brackets that use all 4 mounting holes before i perm mod this thing. Also wondering what the recommended AGM batteries are. i cant spend 1k on a battery upgrade right now since I was lucky enough to find 3 used osets in the last month. I am also thinking about making a rear brake pedal mod getting crafty. Man when I pull this thing off the charger the first 2…

Being tight, I didn't fancy paying £20+ for a kill switch for my lads Oset so did a bit of research.... You can get one of these on eBay for £1.99. From China, but came within a couple of weeks. Maybe worth buying a couple or three to given you some spare caps. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371211083911?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT#ht_9710wt_1033 Problem is these are for a petrol bike, hence work the wrong way round. With the lanyard cap attached the switch is open curcuit, pull it of and it closes. Strip it and it looks like this inside: - You can buy a replacement button/switch that operates the correct way (i.e lanyard cap fitted …

My 8 year-old son enjoys trials events on his 36v 20" Oset but also has the desire to "go fast". So, is like to get more speed out of his bike. I know that larger rear sprockets are available but have not found smaller sprockets. Also looking for 20" street tires. Any advice or leads are appreciated.
