OSET Electric Trials Bikes

I bought a used Oset at the weekend for my son. Its a 12.5 model. I put it on charge and let him have a bit of a go out the front of our house as its very quiet. After a few minutes the bike would barely pull him up a small hill in the road. I put it on charge when we got in and it was on for about 8 hours but the red LED on the charger never turned green to say it was fully charged. I took it off charge and lifted the back wheel whilst I turned the throttle. I held it for about 30 seconds and you could hear the wheel gradually turning slower. The following day I left it on charge over night and still no green light. Do you recon the battery needs replacing? When I lifte…

Just got my son an Oset 16 racing. He is thrilled to bits. Garden is now chewed up but at least he enjoyed his first few rides. Mrs sensibly won't let me take him practicing till his proper helmet arrives. Was wondering about washing it? I've always jet washed trials bikes and dried them properly afterwards with no issues at all. I understand jet washing these osets is a big no no. Is this actually the case ? What bits should be kept dry ? If they have such an aversion to water should he even avoid streams and puddles? Any help would be appreciated before I ruin it.

My son (13 years old) is Using the Oset 24 mostly for enduro. Bike's motor & controller are getting very warm, and go into limp mode. Can happen after 15 minutes of riding. Added a computer fan to cool the controller, but it's not very useful. Any suggestions? Motor is sizzling hot and so is the controller. Heat sink? Cold packs?

Just interested in how old people's kids are when they start riding an oset 12.5?? I'm forward planning ( saving money ) for my boys 2nd birthday ( next year ). Just thought I'd enquire the average age of kids getting started and does anyone use stabilisers to start them off?? He's on a balance bike already at 14 months and loves watching me on my 4rt and trials DVDs, so I would like to get him started as soon as I can.

I have two daughters, one who'll be six in March and the other who'll be three and a half then. I'm really thinking more of this for the older girl as the younger one hasn't really shown much of an interest in her bicycle yet. Probably a birthday present in March. What's the best size to get? Both girls are about 40 lbs. The older one is at least average or a little taller in height for her age but slender. The three year old comes up to her nose and is stockier - definitely quite big for her age. Today we had one of the first part failures on our well used 36v 16. One of the pins of the masterlink sheared off. Over the last two years, the chain has derailed a few times, so it's tough to tell if it failed on its own or if it was pinched btwn one of the sprockets and the swingarm. Regardless, I need to get a replacement masterlink or maybe an entire chain, which I hope to get locally. Does anyone know the size of the chain, and if it is likely to be found at a bicycle shop? Looks like it might be a kids' bike, but there's no scale to compare the size.

hi guys , anyone who has any experience of oset electric trials bikes please let me know or point me in the direction of finding out. i am debating getting a 12.5 for my 3yr old son, i guess its a toss up between oset 12.5 or crf50(which will last forever etc but maybe better to start on oset , less intimidating and safer ) what do you's think?? thanks

Just picked up a used 20r(2017) when my kids rides towards or away from me i can see that both wheel are no in alignment. We bought it used with no option to return it. Overall the bike is in great condition and really doesn't look abused. If i had to guess i would say the front fork crown is bent.....Is this a know problem and or something i can fix ?? bk

I recently had yet another set of off-the-shelf batteries blow up (overheat and swell, not explode). This time was a set of three 10.5ah SLA batteries, that I believe are PowerSonic brand. But this is the 3rd set in about 3 years: First a set of 8ah's on our 12.5 model (w/ a stock Oset charger). Then a set of 10.5's on a 36v model (I then replaced the Oset charger with an ebay 36v charger) Then this set of 10.5s on one of our two 36v models. To the best of my knowledge, I haven't left these things on charge more than overnight, or 24 hours. I tested both of the two chargers we have (1 Oset and the one I bought on ebay) and both are putting out about 41v. There…

Just curious why this forum is 99% Oset. After looking at the two smallest models for my 3 year old I was pretty unimpressed with the build quality on the Oset. Ended up getting a Kuberg Start and he's rocking it. Don't get me wrong, both are great bikes and I'm very pleased to have a choice of small electric bikes for my son. Just curious if there was some reason unknown to me why Oset seems to be the preferred brand.
