OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by PAC,

Hi all, first of all, I apologize for my poor english, I'm french ;-) I've just bought a 20 R to my 8 year old son, He really enjoy it all day long, but it's really long to have to recharge every 45 mn of use for 2H, then I have tried to understand all what you write about LIPO...with my poor english and my very poor knowing in electric system. For resume, Is anyone could tell me the simple way (and safer) to do this upgrade, and the gain we'll have. Thanks

Hi All Having recently read in the advert for Oset about 4yr olds being allowed to run on these bikes under new ACU rules, I was wondering if any clubs have taken this up. I am based in Devon and have just bought a 16 36v and a 12.5 for my 4 boys to practice on. My boys are between 6 and 1 (may be a short while before the 1yr old rides one). Also do they need ACU approved helmets or are cycle helmets Ok. Also does anyone know how clubs generally feel about them following you around between sections (once they are competant on the bikes). Sorry for all the questions, but getting back into trials after a 20ish yr lay off. Many thanks Andy

Have looked at doing the LiPo conversion and just don't want the hassle of managing that type of battery. I recently put a Shido Lithium Ion battery in my KTM Supermoto and was impressed with the weight saving and performance. So, got me thinking I could put 4 x 12v Shido Batteries (19wh) Link here in the Oset 20. This will save around 70% in weight and should also give a longer run time as they are 19wh (Oset batteries are 10ah) Has anyone tried this, will it work? Looking for any type of input from members who have experience of batteries. Thanks

  4. Hello guys, I created a 15aH LifePo4 Battery for the OSET of my son. At equivalent capacity, 10aH, the Lifepo4 will give better autonomy than the original lead batteries because the efficiency is much higher (95% against 60%)... I chose LifePo4 cells because they are safer than Li-ion (no risk of explosion or fire). Now my son can run x3 time longer and we won 8kg on the bike ! Please find in the attached file the full procedure if you want to create your own too. I put all the link to buy the components. Then all the setting for the BMS are explained in the attached file too. I chose this ELERIX bra…

Hi New to the forum and indeed to the world of off road bikes but having tired a little of road riding I am about to take the plunge myself and have just done so for my son. I have just bought an Osset 16" for my sons fifth birthday and am after some advice/thoughts on helmet choice. Having looked through the galleries, there seems to be a mix of bicycle, open and motocross full face helmets. I am leaning away from the bicycle style as they offer less protection around the side of the head, though they are light, comfortable and least obtrusive. Motocross style with a chin guard obviously offer greatest protection but at the expense of visibility, which could arguabl…

We purchased a second hand oset 12.5 for my 3 year old son. It has subsequently developed an issue where is cuts out and we have to turn it off and on to reset the motor when he accelerates hard from a stand still. The bike will not cut out if we hold the back wheel up and accelerate hard so it seems to be a load issue. If we help him accelerate at half throttle the bike runs fine and there is no issue. We have looked at all the wiring and replaced all the fuses on the bike that we can see but the issue persists. Has anyone encountered this issue?

I've finally tracked down a bike for my lad that isn't the other end of the country! HURAH! 16.0 24v, looks like its had a pretty easy life. Can't wait to show him it! Only problem now is his little sister getting grumpy that she hasn't got one! I have a few upgrades planned already Can anyone explain what a 36v can do over a 24v? I wont be doing it soon, but just trying to understand the benefit.

hi all. I am fairly confident that i was not the only Oset owner wondering how the Kuberg challenger 24" compared. All of the media outlets in the uk give different specs for the bike and no one seemed to know the difference between the challenger 24" and the 20" so even comparing wheel sizes was near impossible. Well i have gotten my hands on one and i want to give people the information that has been missing so they can make an informed choice. I have, in-fact, seen one of these bikes before. and it was tiny, i couldn't understand how they were marketing these bikes at adults at that size. The wheels were tiny 19" bike trials wheels, the bars were narrow, swing arm minu…

Hi Being now the proud owner of a 12.5 and a 16 36V (for the boys you understand ) I am a bit confused over the charge indicators on the throttle. Having built them up and plugged the charger in, the light on the charger turned to green within 5 minutes, indicating a full charge. When you turn the bikes on, 3 lights on the throttle assembly turn red. Does this indicate full charge, or do the lights on the throttle go green? Another quick question, the grips don't appear too big for my children, but the brake levers on the 12.5 are tiny (length wise), are they just replacable with cycle parts as I would like to get similar length levers to the 16. Also the bar ends peo…

Ok... so I made the mistake of "Just going to do one thing..." to Gavin's OSET.. The Mod bug can happen any time anywhere.. Here's how it started.. Then I added Bars and Grips.. Then it happened.. I just started to change the back wheel... More to come later today

  20. Started by frogger,

I thought I'd start a thread to show some of the mods we have done to our Oset 20. Maybe other people can do the same and share any little tips to make it even better. The standard brakes were not to his liking and the pads wore through in a very short space of time the day before Christmas! Faced with the possibility of not riding the bike until the new year (because we couldn't get new brake pads sent) we bit the bullet and stuck some Shimano XT's on there. Awesome brakes! Also did some Renthal grips and bar ends while were at it. The motor was getting covered in muck and so we used an old heavy duty 18" inner tube cut to the right size and shape to make a mud guard…
