OSET Electric Trials Bikes

  1. Started by njtrials,

Hope some experienced help can be had. New to Oset and little electric knowledge, bought a 2015 16R (I think) yesterday and was told the original batteries are in it. The serial number on the frame is 16R4I114 but have been unable to confirm what this is. The charger appears to be original supplied 36W and has three parallel batteries. I'll list the issues I have. 1. When plugged in the wall outlet, charger blinks red sometimes, but not always. …

Oset 16: The batteries are flat (only one red light on handle bar indicator and the bike has no riding power). When i plugged the charging in the charging socket on the bike with the bike turned off, then turned the charger on the green light came on, but it has allows shown a red light when the batteries are flat? Using a multi meter i tested the charge current coming out of the charger, result 28.2 volts. I then tested the charge coming from the pos and neg leads coming from the bike to the batteries, result 28.2 volts. I then tested the link cable between both batteries and this sounded out okay. I then tested the volted with the link between both batteries connected, …

Please excuse my english - I am from Austria. Since yesterday my 6 year old son is the proud owner of a OSET 16.0. But I am a bit confused about the charging instructions. The english manual states the following: "Always connect the charger to the AC power source before connecting the charger to the bike" "Always disconnect the charger from the bike before disconnecting the charger from the AC power source" My "german" manual tells me the exact opposite: "Always connect the charger to the bike before connecting the charger to the AC power source" "Always disconnect the charger from the AC power source before disconnecting the charger from the bike" Question: What…

Hi New to the forum and indeed to the world of off road bikes but having tired a little of road riding I am about to take the plunge myself and have just done so for my son. I have just bought an Osset 16" for my sons fifth birthday and am after some advice/thoughts on helmet choice. Having looked through the galleries, there seems to be a mix of bicycle, open and motocross full face helmets. I am leaning away from the bicycle style as they offer less protection around the side of the head, though they are light, comfortable and least obtrusive. Motocross style with a chin guard obviously offer greatest protection but at the expense of visibility, which could arguabl…

Hi guys My boy (2.5yrs) is a true trials rider. He HAS TO ride through every bit of mud he can find. How do I clean his bike? Im presuming that I cant hose the bike down due to the electronics. Please dont say use a toothbrush.

Apologies that this topic is not specifically Oset related but I figured I'd get the best response and feedback on the Oset forum. Whilst at the WTC this weekend saw loads of the kids riding on the Oset and wondered where the best place is to get trials clothing for a 4 1/2 year old. Looks like the Fox Pee Wee boots are best bet, especially in infant size 10 but what about trousers / shirt?? My son has the Wulf gear already but I saw MOTS, Fox and clice (among others) being worn. Can as Oset rider (or parent) advise where you can get gear this size?? Seen a few places selling Fox MX kit which looks fine but give b*gger all info on sizing other than 'youth small' etc…

  8. I have a small display stand at a well advertised Trials show (coming up in the next week or so.) No names no pack drill, but it is at Telford. The stand is not selling anything, it is promoting our own Conducted trials for riders aged 4 and above. If there are any other clubs that run conducted routes that would like a mention on the stand, let me know and I will put up a list. I need is the name of the club, your location and the dates of the events. Pete

I've finally tracked down a bike for my lad that isn't the other end of the country! HURAH! 16.0 24v, looks like its had a pretty easy life. Can't wait to show him it! Only problem now is his little sister getting grumpy that she hasn't got one! I have a few upgrades planned already Can anyone explain what a 36v can do over a 24v? I wont be doing it soon, but just trying to understand the benefit.

Hi All Having recently read in the advert for Oset about 4yr olds being allowed to run on these bikes under new ACU rules, I was wondering if any clubs have taken this up. I am based in Devon and have just bought a 16 36v and a 12.5 for my 4 boys to practice on. My boys are between 6 and 1 (may be a short while before the 1yr old rides one). Also do they need ACU approved helmets or are cycle helmets Ok. Also does anyone know how clubs generally feel about them following you around between sections (once they are competant on the bikes). Sorry for all the questions, but getting back into trials after a 20ish yr lay off. Many thanks Andy

  12. Now that the ACU are issuing licences to 4 year olds on electric trials bikes, I was wondering what sort of take up I would have if I staged an event aimed at these riders. Would anyone be interested in a trial in the Costwold/Evesham area where the entries were restricted to Conducted riders on Osets, Auto 50's and TY80's? It would probably be on a Saturday, have eight sections each with two routes. Begginer and Experienced. Each section would be ridden three times by each rider before moving on to the next section. At the end of the trial, the first three in each class would be awarded a trophy. I would only charge the bare minimum to cover costs; permit, land hire …

I just bought a used Oset 12.5R for son #2 (shhhh, Xmas present). Needs new ti res. The stock tires are 12x2.4 (64-203mm). There are some smokin' deals on ebay for tires labeled 12 1/2" x 2 1/4". Two tires and two tubes for $23 shipped. Will 12.5" tires fit and is this why the bike model is a 12.5?

  15. Hi all, Ty rode his 12.5 about a week ago with no issues. Today we went to ride, and I found no lights on the throttle, and no power. I thought maybe the charger hadn't been fully seated, and reconnected it, but the charger remained green, and no power came to the throttle. Things I've done: Checked the main fuse above the battery which was good Checked voltage across both batteries (~12v) and the two together ~24 Tried to check resistance across the key switch,( which I was suspect of) I expected to find no current with switch off, and no resistance with switch on, but I couldn't get any current in either position. I then tried jumping the two connectors (elimin…

Looking for a bit of help with my sons 20R. Little used 2015 model, bought it a couple of months ago with LiPo battery already fitted, last ridden about 10 days ago. Plugged in the charger this morning and it was flashing to indicate an error! Checked battery voltage - 51V. When the battery is connected to the bike, the bike can be switched on the power lights illuminate on the throttle for a moment and then the power relay drops out. I've checked voltage too and from the key switch 51V, too and from the handlebar switch 51V and to the controller 51V until it shuts down. I have 51V each side of the main fuse and I have 51V supply onto the relay until it switches off…

Morning all. Went to get my boys oset 20.0 lite out of the shed yesterday, fully charged, swithched on on the handle bar, 3 lights showing on the battery gauge, and nothing. When I say nothing, you hear the relay make the click noise but when you touch the throttle there is a slight response where the wheel turns a fraction then it cuts out. Repeat process and it does it again but nothing more. It was fine when we put it away after a dry ride. Any thoughts???
