Hi, I'm trying to get hold of an exhaust silencer for my Cota 247. In the attached picture it can be seen top right. I've tried most of the usual sources but have had no luck so far. Thanks in advance, Phil

These polished parts are available here in germany.....6mm instaed of standard 5mm......more protection on flywheelside.... I think they are being imported by Steve Goode. Dont think they are too expensive eiither and I have heard they make 4RT dogbones also that raise the groundclearance by 2cm. Looks good dont it!

  3. Started by jza,

Just bought a new (well new to me ) 4RT. The fenders are a bit shabby so i bought some off of Sandifords. The existing fender is pop rivetted on. I assume i just dremmel the four rivets off? So i bought a pop riveter... but the pop rivet aint long enough and when i looked at the fixings on the existing fender the underside rivets have discs on them... my rivets dont. Forgive my ignorance... but how do i fix the new fender to the bracket? Can i just buy some nuts and bolts? Anyone know of anyone who sells any kit for this purpose? Cheers, Jza

An average clubman rider is thinking of buy a 4rt. With all the deals and such like available and waiting times for some models. Those in the know, which year and which model would be best to buy? and why? e.g. 2005...cheap to buy and good piece of kit 2006...re-worked engine, easier to start 2007................etc is the extra money better spent on after market stuff, like the Mitani gear any help most appreciated Leigh

Hi all, I've got an opportunity to ride a big off-road loop which is about 75K long. Would my 2000 315r be ok at these miles or should I take my Africa Twin. I've only ever ridden the Montesa for short blasts and hardly ever in top gear so I don't really know if they like this short of riding. Any thoughts much appreciated.

I intend to use my 315 for trail riding. Does anyone have any experience of what gearing to use to give 50-60 mph on the road. Your expert help would be apprieciated.

The rear shocks on my 349 have had it so am looking for a replacement pair. The old ones measure up at 12" or 305mm. What is the correct length for them? I can find 310, 320, 325, 330 and 340mm but no reference to 305. Who is the cheapest seller? (not a very good rider so don't want to spend a fortune yet) Or does anyone have a pair that work ok but are a bit scruffy they would part with. The bike is just my practice machine and is very rough. Cheers Ed

Has anyone got (or knows where I can download) a manual for a Montesa Cota 172. My brother has managed to get his hands on a 'barn find' and is looking to do the thing up and get out on it for some events. Any help would be much appreciated.

Some help please in case i am doing something wrong as have bleed brakes before but never a clutch. I have a 315r 2002 model, cover says dot4 fluid so think its the correct stuff. Went to bleed clutch, took top cover off, attached pipe, Undid nipple, pumped leaver and redid nipple in- between but now have no resistance in lever at all. have taken out plunge pin in cylinder but looks ok. Does it just need bleeding again as it has air in it? and if so as it has no pressure in lever is the only way to do it with a vacuum pump. Am i missing someithing or is it just air?. help please.

A year or back I let my Fantic go and now thinking of another Post 80 bike to take its place, the logical option would be another FANTIC but I do fancy something different, a Montesa. I don't know too much about them what could people who do tell me about the 242, or the 330. I have read the kickstart is a little fragile, but are these realistic competitors to the Fantic, it wll be ridden on a middle route in trials so not easy but not stupidly hard also. Thanks
