I have recently purchased a 1982 MH 349, however the from tyre rubs on the mudguard bracket unless it has 25psi in it, I don't know if the fork yokes are the wrong type? the forks are parallel at the top and bottom? is there are measurements that I could check as it may be the yokes or there are spacers missing on the front wheel hub? It looks like I have 110mm between forks and approx. 145, centre of fork slide to centre, is this standard for a MH349?

A supplimentary question to the gear removal thread. Do I have to split the cases to change the crank seals or any of the other seals for that matter? If not then I'll be a happy man.

Hi All My 79 Montesa 250 Enduro H6 is leaking oil from the kick starter. I have found the part number for the seal, but not sure how to replace it? Do I need to just take the side cover off, or split the whole main case? TIA

Hello All, I'm working on a 2007 Montesa Cota 4RT and I'm having some issues with the speedometer gear: I had to hammer it off the front axle! Now that I'm ready to fit the front wheel again and I've lubed and greased everything it needs some hammering to go back in again. I'm guessing this can't be right but because this speedometer uses a kind of mix between old school mechanical and new school magnetic I'm actually not sure if it's normal for it to be so tight. Could anyone please confirm? The other issue is that my Honda dealer here in Portugal said this part is discontinued. Any ideas where I could find parts for this 2007 Cota 4RT? Thank you very much…

Hi Found what I think is an early Cota 247 in a garage only half a mile away from where I live. Totally seized engine, gearbox runs through all gears, forks seized as well, seat foam gone but all in all I'm really happy Any ideas what year the frame number. M21 2395 dates this bike to?

Hi folks. Any advice, help, tips, general good natured banter on the best method of bleeding brakes on a 2004 Mont? After a couple of major AOT's and a severe argument with a tree during which my hand came of 'slightly worse for wear, at the weekend I have a spongy front and almost non existant back brake - almost a non existant back into the bargain as I don't bounce like I used to and sidecars ain't that much lighter these days! Back brake was poor from the off which I originally put down to new pads needing some time to bed in. As usaul any help/tips would be very much appreciated and hopefully I won't have to spend all day Saturday in a cold, wet, dark garage - again!…

I’ve got the opportunity to buy an old 172 that needs a bit of TLC. I had a one year old one from Windsor Comp Shop way back in 1978 so quite a late one (with the stripes on the tank) which looked gorgeous but used to be a bit of a pain to start and maintain as a 16 year old with zero parental interest in my motorcycle antics. My questions are:- 1. Can you still get most parts for the 172? 2. Are there any decent (but not changing the look) upgrades that are available - eg. Electronic ignition, brake pads that actually stop, etc. 3. Any other massive things to look out for? Any pointers would be much appreciated! it’s either this or a Ve…

Bit of a silly question but i'd rather ask to be sure. I've just done my first service on the 4RT, oils and filter, when I put the new oil in I kicked the bike over slowly to get the oil around then started it, let it run for a minute then turned it off. When I checked the dipstick it was virtually dry and took about 10 minutes for the level to start to rise. Is this normal, does it take some time for the oil to get back to the sump or is something not right. I'm very paranoid about oil levels and automatically start to presume i've put something back wrong, filter or something, even though i triple check things as I go I start to question myself after. Trying to avoid egg-on-face when I come to reassembly. In the middle of a strip down and rebuild of a spare 348 engine I bought a while back. All stripped down and parts labelled but… I've got a couple of left-over parts which I can't identify - can anyone help, please? As you can see, there's a spacer and a needle roller. Found in the bottom of the gearbox and can't work out where they came from. I'm pretty certain they were inside the 'pocket' of the crankcase half where the gearshift shaft terminates. Both are 15mm outside diameter, spacer is 10mm in length, bearing 14.8mm. The only place they appear to fit is within the clutch side crankcase half where the …
