My 02 315 has an NGK BPR6EIX iridium plug. Took a look at it yesterday, and there's a little oily soot around the end of the threaded base. The tip of the grounding electrode was dry and dark brown. Is this normal? Need a hotter plug, or leaner jetting? Since it's ridden slow and easy a lot would turning in the mixture screw help keep the plug clean? Bike is ridden easy most of the time around private property, but on each ride I do open it up for a few seconds on some flat areas. Timing has been retarded a tad and carb has 35 pilot jet, 110 main jet, D37 needle at 2nd from bottom slot. Using 80:1 mix with Silkolene.

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to fit a rear brake caliper from a later model ('01 onwards) the style of caliper which is hidden behind the swing arm, to an earlier 315 (the one with the brake caliper sat higher than the swingarm. I know they both locate of a pin on the inside of the swingarm, just wondered if they are interchangeable.

So I finally have some time on my hands to start giving my recently purchased 315 the once over. The first couple of things to jump out at me are the buckled and dented rear rim and the downward pointing footpegs. What is the best way to rectify the rear wheel? Can I get a replacement rim and just get it respoked? It looks like it would be a pretty easy job to do with the split spokes and flanged rim. Would it be more cost effective to source a second hand rear wheel. The footpegs are sloping down due to wear in the pivot holes on both the peg and the bracket. I was thinking of welding up the holes a bit and then re-drilling for the pin but wondered if this was a …

Sometimes I ride my 315 around our acreage which calls for more shifting. The tiny pedal hurts and wears boots when you shift often. Any solutions other than just making a longer pedal with rubber cover?

Just been re-assembling the Showa forks from my 2000 year 315. I followed the manual, bleeding everything as described and filling with the specified quantity of fork oil. The figures I have are: right fork: 407 cc fork oil to acheive 39mm air gap left fork: 391 cc fork oil to acheive 97mm air gap Problem is that the oil level appears to be 20mm+ too low in both cases. I'm no suspension expert, but I do know that the oil level / air gap measurement is a critical one where a few mm difference will make a big difference. So it is important to get right. Does anyone know for sure if any of the specifications in the manual are incorrect ?

Hi all, My '04 315 silencer rattles excessively at the junction to the pre-muffler, is there any shop tricks you've used to tighten the fit? I've already repacked the silencer and the core is good and the rivits are tight, the rattle is coming from the out shell contacting the pre-muffler. Also, the gromet at the frame mount is in reasonable condition. Thanks

HI all, Mont not starting after running perfect since i bought it, my first port of call is to change the plug as it did start then died and hasn't gone since (3 attempts over 3 days). Im used to an old Bultaco where i can get in from theside, but the 315 is so compact i can't do that. Does the tank have to come off? and if so do i just make sure the fuel tap is shut and it will be ok?? HELP GOT A TRIAL ON SUNDAY!!
