Hi good people! I've had my bike for a while, but now it has been sitting for over a year (school abroad). It's a '99 Cota 315R with a lot of 2004 (or so) upgrades. When I parked it, it had some minor issues with the clutch, but now it's straight useless. It doesn't disconnect at all, when you put it in 1st with the clutch engaged it literally takes off. I tried bleeding with no luck. Secondly, there seem to be a fair amount of oil seeping from the underside of my engine. How should I go about to take care of this, do I have to split the whole engine and change the gasket? At the risk of sounding like a complete n00b, would this be motor or gear oil? Or do they share o…

Hi all. I have a Montesa Cota 311 which is is, as you know, a 2 stroke. I would like to convert it to a 4 stroke and was wondering whether anyone here has any ideas as to what motor might fit? I don't know whether there is enough space above the existing cylinder head for a 4 stroke head. Does anyone out there have any ideas? Maybe somebody who has done this before. I was thinking a crf 250 motor. I am not a trials competitor. I use this bike for cross country riding with some slow technical stuff. I know many people will say "stick with the 2 stroke". I just like 4 strokes and if I can do this conversion without to much difficulty I will try it. I live in Zimbabwe, t…

Hello to all, First question,is it normal that when I finish my ride and the cooling ventilator is running if I leave it on idle for a quite time it want stop. Should it stop at some moment? Ok, these day's it is warm but any how I expect it will stop. Another one is why when the engine is warm if I turn it of,to start it again every time I have to kick at least 4-6 times to make it run? Last one is about gear's, It is hard to get it in to N position when it is warm. Is it the tipe of oil or? Grate thanks for help!

Just met someone riding who got to look at the new 2014 bikes at a montesa demo. He said he saw Toni Bou riding there and he had a partially disguised 2015 that had 2 spark plugs. Any truth to this? Anyone else seen anything?

Probably a dumb question, but have seen lots on slowing the bike down and debates on gearing. Have only pottered the bike on a few local legal trails so far as been busy with work, etc. I reckon first gear is going to be quick for nadgery sections. So if I go for a 9 tooth front sprocket do I need to take a link out of the chain at the same time? 2016 4RT. Dumb question I know...

Hi, managed to get an afternoon in the garage and discovered the plastic fuel tank on my 349, which shows signs of past repair, is leaking badly from underneath in a few places. Anyone repaired one of these with any success? Cheers.

Although I dont own one (yet) I have always liked the Mont 315r and especially those funky green/purple forks. Anyway I noticed the new 4RT doesnt have them but has black forks instead yet (correct me if I am wrong) dont DL and Fuji still use the greeny purple ones?? Trivial I know but does anyone know why the production bikes stopped using them?

Have had several Montesa's over the years, last one was a 2003.I Packed up riding 3 years ago and have now had the urge again and got a 1999 Mont.Problem is can't get the front brake to really bite, have bled it,put new pads in cleaned the disk with brake cleaner but still not biting it will slow you down if you know what I mean but no real stopping power. Did have this prob with a 2000 model and had to heat disk up by applying brake whilst riding then quench with water!!!!!It would last for a couple of sections then have to repeat.Don't really want that hassle again but otherwise really like the bikes.Any advice would be welcome. Cheers......Pete.
