I haven't registered as kinell anywhere else except for the SSDT site...
Is somebody using my 'good' (ahem!) name in vain?
-
He might not be Vat registered, no need to charge Vat

Last year, I had a slow puncture because of air leaking out of the spokes. I had tried siliconing the spokes twice without any success. I got a new rear wheel from JLI's and mentioned it to Gary who gave me the following advice: -
Fit the rim band and use 'sikaflex' to seal both sides of it to the wheel. It's main use is fitting windscreens in cars as it doesn't set really hard, it sets like a soft flexible rubber beading.
I did both wheels in 10 minutes and left them overnight to go 'off' before fitting the tyres.
Neither wheel has leaked since

It'll never happen, there's tons of well hard '05 Beta's queueing up to be thrashed, bounced and abused by yours truly
-
What's Taddy's web address?
-
I know who it is
... and he isn't winning the poll
-
Thanks for the 'factory' insight Martin - I was just going off what was said on the night...
-
Sorry, I suppose it could have meant either
Yes, my entry was confirmed yesterday...
-
Bugger! there's always the reserve list though
I wonder how many folk drop out before the event each year...
-
Must be the order of receipt then
-
Congratulations Gizza 5 and Bigfoot
Is the number on the bottom our actual riding number or just the order that they received our entries?
I've done 2 days without smoking, the diet has started and my training starts tonight
Time for a sparkly new Beta soon...
-
Today is a *very* good day

Yes, but I wouldn't expect to get away with it completely
If Fuji had been riding normally and got behind time due to being stuck in a section or something - then 5'ing those sections on purpose wouldn't have looked quite as bad to the paying public...
The fact is that he rode into section 1 knowing full well that he would be missing out the two hardest sections. This gave him enough of a comfort zone to have a real crack at the other sections without having to worry about the time limit. How much better would Taddy have done if he had done the same as Fuji? After all, it's not like he had much of a chance of winning so he could have taken his time and enjoyed his 1st Sheffield Indoor.
Fuji didn't cheat, we all know that. He rode within the rules and took full advantage of them - it's the rules that need changing to prevent spectators being cheated of watching the current World Champion on the 2 hardest sections of the night
-
Got to get an entry first
PS
Yer a ****

Never heard of 'em - who are they?

It's a real shame that the 'Sheffield Chat' page decided to take a dump when it was needed the most last night Andy took a bit of a gamble by promising the 'live results' service, as everybody is used to expecting the very best from TC.com
The site must be more popular than we all think - so many people logged on all at once that the server stalled under excess load. I'm sure that he won't let it happen the next time though!
Andy was down in the arena mixing it with the trials stars, I was in the cheap seats texting results through to Heath who was on the booze as usual... Luckily, he was only half p****d as he set up a 'yahoo group' and tried his very best to get as many people over there to check the latest results. Pretty quick thinking for a southener
So, to everyone who felt a bit let down - sorry but it couldn't be helped and we tried our very best
-
Yep, that's the one - Raga had his bike on it's nose right at the top before dropping onto the ramp and slamming the anchors on ! 'grande cahones' I think they say...
-
I can't remember when the 'standard engine' was mentioned by Crosser and/or Wayne but it was definitely whilst Dougie was still riding the sections.
HRC might be concentrating their efforts on Fuji because he's Japanese and steadily improving. Plus he's younger, smaller and lighter than big Doug who is a big fella compared to both Fuji and Freixa - maybe he needs more power than they do...
Conspiracy Theory? here's mine
Maybe HRC will eventually deliver a sparkly new engine but only after Fuji builds up a comfortable points lead... (Team Tactics?)

The PA was fine where we were sitting, heard every word in fact.
Just minutes before Fuji took the deliberate 5's I was telling our lass that he was a real crowd pleaser and one of the spectators favourites ! Then it all went quiet, Crosser and Wayne Kershaw tried to stir the crowd up to cheer him on again but it stayed quiet - apart from a few boos! (myself included)
Cabestany did better than I expected on the Sherco, that Taddy mush rode his heart out for the crowd - started very well but knackered himself out too quickly - very impressive though
Raga was his usual 'class act' but I'm surprised nobody has yet mentioned his 'do or die' drop off the 8' pallets. I'll try to explain it for those that weren't there...
They were about 8 foot up and had to drop down and land on a short, steep ramp that was about 4 foot high, stop immediately, turn right and carry on, so....
Fuji thinks "I don't like the look of this ramp thing one little bit!" he decides to jump 8 foot and lands on the floor very hard, bouncing out of the section "Ouch"
Cabestany thinks "Sod that heavy landing, I'll do it proper" I can't remember how he did it but he only just stopped at the bottom of the ramp.
Raga thinks "Pair of pussy's, it's *showtime*" He rolls back about 6 foot, rides forward, does a steep rolling nose wheelie right to the edge of the 8 foot drop, then lets go of the front brake, swoops down onto the ramp at just the right angle and carries on!. Wow I really, really hope that somebody got a photo sequence or video of it...
The Mont? didn't do as well as the 2 strokers but was still very impressive to watch. I think Freixa rode his better than both Fuji and Dougie
King Doug was allegedly on a bog standard engine whilst Fuji was on a HRC prepped thunder bus. Are HRC trying to 'offload' Dougie now that Fuji has stepped up his act? I reckon he should tell 'em where to stick their 'Yen' and go back to Beta

So Andy has been feeding M4RT with info' has he?

I've been to a few Motocross/Supercross events at Sheffield and they always have plenty of trade stands selling everything from key rings to race prepped engines.
I asked Neil Crosswaite why they never have trade stands for Trials events. He said it is to do with 'public liability insurance' because they have all the stars riding up and down the aisles/stairs etc.
Everybody* has to be in their seats before the start in case somebody gets injured - trade stands are always busy and folk would be buying stuff, which means the start time might get delayed...
PS
You are going to love it tomorrow night
-
I'll tell the wife not to bother going then
