To answer Ishy's question regarding the fuelling on the Sherco 4T: -
I met one of the Sherco blokes last night who said that the bike will use unleaded petrol without any oil mixed in - the engine lubrication will be done separately.
I can't remember his name now as I have sobered up but I'm sure he is Grimbo's minder and I was told that he used to be a very good rider in his day. Anyone know his name?
Cheers

I bought one of the Hebo coats which was 100% waterproof until it went in't washer! It's like a sodding sponge now - I only wear it if it's cold.
Best thing you can buy is a goretex job without a liner - you'll sweat like a good 'un so you'll end up p****d wet through anyway
-
Nope, not really bothered for chocolate
But...
If it were bacon butties or pies I'd be well in there
-
I've plenty of hair yet (greying) and I'm from the sane side of the border
-
Might have been Brian Ayrton or Richard Naylor...
-
That happened with Ishy's new Sherco 290 at the years SSDT. He brought his 'special' brake pedal with him and it snagged the frame! We noticed that the original pedal must have been catching it too, as it had scratches on it.
Decent file sorted the frame out, must have only been 1 or 2 mm to be honest.
Very tight gap at the best of times.

Does anybody know if today's results are up anywhere?
Cheers

Piece of cake, you'll need an 'Impact Driver' though
-
I took the weight off, which means the revs pick up much quicker. It's ideal for hitting steps and steep banks with zero run-up. I then put a slow action throttle back on to keep it nice and smooth at the bottom end.
I tend to ride too slow in sections, which often gets me into trouble so I changed the standard 11 tooth front sprocket for a 13 in Scotland. Superb for top end speed on the road but it meant that I lost 1st gear and only had 2nd to 7th
Last week I changed to a 12 tooth front, which feels spot on so far.
-
I'm not sure if its normal or not but I always find metal filings on the sump plug magnet when I change the gear oil. I suppose its just a gradual wear and tear process.
If you are really worried about the rattling, turn the radio up
-
I doubt it, I reckon Perce enjoys a bit of abuse now and again
-
A mate of mine got his regs in this mornings post Come on Perce, get yer finger out and get 'em up on TC before I change my mind
-
I love that sig'
PS
23 Oct - See you on the start field
-
I agree, wait for the 05 or offer
-
That'll be him, I remember somebody saying that he'd come over from the IOM. Very confident rider

Just got back from Silsden after spending some time with the trials stars, it was a hot & sticky day so feeling a bit knackered now! One of the riders brought his gorgeous wife along for the day, nice one mate
Apparently I only just managed to scrape into the 'A' group, which made me want to try harder. We had Ben H. and Jim L. as tutors for the morning. Jim pulled me to one side once or twice to explain things in more detail. This must have done the trick as I ended the morning session by having a go at the 4ft step at the top of section 2.
After lunch, we were with Doug L, Jake M. and Danny. This was my worse kind of section (tight and twisty turns) The best I did on this one was a dab, which p****d me off a bit, as I'd done better than usual in the morning session. The better riders were taking a much harder line which had a 6ft rock step that leant back slightly.
Just before we moved on, Dougie asked if anyone else would like to try it, six or seven daft buggers (me included) said Yes Jake and Danny did the catching but they seemed to do a fair bit of ducking too as Betas, Gassers and Monts flew up the step minus the rider
The last section was the best - rocks, turns, big slabs, drop-offs, more rocks and a big effort to get up the long knobbly hill. A young lad called Josh showed us how it should be done by cleaning it twice on the trot. He only looked about 8yrs old and his 125 bike made mincemeat of the job.
The trialling finished with the Master and his Mont' doing their awesome demonstration. I video'd the demo so that I could watch and learn at my leisure
Summary - top day out with a good bunch of blokes in God's own trialling county. Cheers fella's
-
Go for it, you won't regret it
-
Loads of good trials days in Yorkshire, where are you?
Dan Clark is a very good teacher as is Ben Hemingway, other riders that offer training are Shaun Morris and Michael Philipson.
I don't have any numbers for them but could probably get Ben's tomorrow if you want.
-
What a cracking photo, is that the 'Danny's Leap of Faith' section?
That jump must have been an a*** twitcher for most of the riders
-
I'm afraid it didn't work, however - semi naked dancing dolly brolly's may work better for next year
-
Guilty m'lud......I've seen myself using it as a 2nd throttle quite a bit too much!
I must not use the clutch as a throttle.
I remember getting a bollocking off Martin Lampkin for that at the last Dougie day
-
Nope, the pipe exited the engine curled down and up as per usual with the bean can fitted before the pipe swept round the side of the engine. It was definitely in front of the engine and looked vulnerable to knocks unless of course your name is Graham Jarvis
-
... and kinell wasn't listening as per usual
-
Did anybody see the Jarvis replica (on the Colin Appleyard stand) at Addingham?
The header pipe looked like it had a tin of 'Heinz Beans' welded round it and painted black! I overheard that it was some form of cat' converter.
