  1. You do go on, even at Christmas
  2. In reality, just how much difference is there between the 2? Would a late Rev3 250 2007/8 be pretty good? Is the Evo generation light years ahead?
  3. Try Inch Perfect for an Experience Day, as they are a dealer too and will have a large number of different makes of bikes/sizes to try - even new demos on a fab 100 acre site If you have a day on a bike, in REAL terrain, you'll know what suits best and I reckon you'll end up with a BETA/Sherco/GasGas 250 in the end and NOT a 4RT It'll be money well spent and reduces the chance of you wasting a shedload of money on the WRONG BIKE
  4. Interesting, i'm crap................but still enter I much prefer a Trial to just practising Horses for Courses, I guess
  5. Go to a Trials intro place like Inch Perfect, for a day Pay them to show you what Trials is like Ride a 125 to 300cc bike & I bet you buy a 200 to 250cc bike
  6. Unless you ride a Mont, you'll never know I was at a Trial on Sat, watching I would say 20% of the entry were on Monts ......across all classes The top guys on the Expert route had a lot of big rocks to attempt & the Mont riders did well, but you could see them having to physically use more energy to get the bike over stuff My gut feeling is that the Mont is physically bigger & heavier - so needs more work Also it's unpredictable in the way it grips - sometimes you think yep it'll get up this fine & it doesn't because once that back wheel is spinning on a slope or rock, it's game over as the bike stops going forward On a 2t you can spin the rear, to burn the tyre through to find some grip & the 4RT doesn't respond to the same treatment - it wants linear drive on a constant or increasing amount of throttle
  7. The Repsol is a paint job and different rear shock for 2016 over the stock bike, plus a bit of carbon................is it not?
  8. Mmm, not so sure I see experts having to get more physical on a 4RT, to get them to work, whereas their 2t rivals seem to expend less energy to get up the same obstacles Definitely not the easiest bike to ride
  9. It is that I think most of it is borne out of frustration, when the rear end breaks traction and you can't find or regain any grip especially in snotty mud You either paddle for a 3 or end up with a 5 I think the problem can be if you don't maintain enough momentum and revs, to 'power' the the bike through Very different to a 2t, where you can go through with a whisper of throttle and then put the power down at will, with great ease Plus if you do break traction, it's easier to clutch a 2t and burn your way through to some grip, one thing that a 4RT doesn't do Your results will be worse initially and people dump the bike back for sale
  10. Exactly I use 1st in tight stuff (9/42), but where a climb is coming up, I sometimes use 2nd for the whole section or snick up into 3rd for a steep climb (and then just hang on ) Between sections on open ground or moors, I quite often enjoy a blast in 5th The gearbox has gears, to be used
  11. What things about the Beta, didn't suit you?
  12. A proper difficult trial, for the pro's
  13. Just get a Mont then.......................

    Test Rides

That'll be the sticking point, along the way
  15. Maybe it was too radical for most Trials riders & they voted with their feet, sticking to a more conventional type of bike like GG or BetaSo it didn't sell as well as hoped & ran out of steam
  16. Dadof2 - I agree Are you having trouble posting (3 times)
  17. I ride a 4RT - so not the best person to ask Yes, they are nice But they are not the easiest bike to ride in Trials A 2t will give you better results
  18. Exactly - except the National Park don't always see it tha way
  19. A fair point Never been to a WTC, doesn't interest me Scott & SSDT interest me more
