  1. Here's a pic of my Montesa, with the Jitsie Carbon fork guards
  2. The Majesty I have is and has some battle scars on forks/frame/engine cases..............however my TY175 has never been off-road in its life and is a 'concours' show bike. It's all about how you look after them..............keep them clean and tidy, well maintianed and they'll look after you in a Trial............ However some bikes you see at Trials are in a shocking state..........never washed and poorly maintained, then people wonder why they break down or retire........... Trials is the cheapest form of Motosport..........but some people ride their bikes into the ground.......literally.
  3. Another Twinshock of mine .................Yam Majesty 175
  4. Here's a pic of my Yamaha TY175...........

Try David Silver Spares foy nos Honda spares on 01728 833020 I've looked up the part no. in my Honda TLR Parts book..........but they don't list the decal separately, just the full tank OR .......you could try Sunrise Graphics (John Kenworthy) he will definitely have the Honda Wing decal in the colourway you want ..........call them on 01253 711862 10-5pm
  7. The words came from his mouth not mine................only reporting what he told me........
  8. I spoke to a Trials Dealer a couple of months ago, who was an agent for Gas Gas, Sherco and also Montesa. He normally rode a Gas Gas for all Centre competitions.........but he always rides a Mont for the SSDT as it's the most reliable........bulletproof bike for 6 day's of consecutive hard work and the one that he could guarantee would get him round. He had kept a 2004 315R in the crate for his own use in this year's SSDT.........whilst most dealers had sold all their stock of 2004 Monts...............Nuff said........that'll do for me........
  9. I see you're in North Yorks..........you can buy old fashioned 100 Octane Leaded 4 star from Bayford Fuel stations. There's one in Harrogate on A61 (Killinghall end). Try some of that.........but it's about

  11. I'm selling a MPA Fantic Helmet on ebay UK, If anybody's interested........12 hours to go. Item number is 2477271912 on www.ebay.co.uk
  12. Yesterday I managed to road register my Majesty 175 Yamaha Twinshock. It's a 1982 model and when I bought it last year, it was unregistered. This year I decided to embark on getting it done on an 'age related' UK 'X' plate. It has been pretty simple really............ Firstly I spoke to John Shirt jnr @ Gas Gas UK, whose father created the Godden framed Majesty (which my model is) and he arranged for his father to send me a 'dating certificate' for the bike from their records, confirming the year of manufacture as Jan 1982. This was a great help. Next .........I did a bit of work to get it to MOT standard on the brakes(bearings were ok and so were forks/shocks) and finally fit an original TY speedo to fork leg (easy to find on ebay or autojumbles) together with an electric bicycle horn. Bike sailed through the 'daytime' MOT So I gathered all the documents ( MOT,Dating Certificate,Bill of Sale,Insurance Docs, my ID) down to local DVLA office - queue for an hour.......fill in a couple of forms, pay for the tax and 1st registration fee (

I wanted to adjust the tickover on my bike...........ie turn it up a bit. However after turning the throttle stop screw (tickover adjust as I saw it) I found that no amount of twiddling will turn it up............either all the way in/out.........in the middle. Now it's worse and will not tickover on idle.................HELP Are these Dell Orto's more finicky than a Jap carb.............all previous experience is on Keihin/Mikuni on Jap bikes and they seem to do what it says in the manual..............however the Dell Orto doesn't ??? JB
  14. I was more worried about chain coming off and clouting engine cases...........but if it's not a problem............from other's experience.........that'll do for me. JB
  15. Looking around the 315............ The front sprocket area looks vulnerable...............if the chain derails......bingo......... The clutch slave cylinder gets smashed.............along with generator cover and crankcase potentially. Is there any aftermarket protection (like a Mono TY chain saver) or does it never happen...............has anybody had it happen to them?? JB
  16. Just bought some last week from BVM Moto for
  17. What's Birkett's Beamish like...............looked nic in T&MX this week.........spill the beans..... JB
  18. Some debate on another thread. BVM said to run mine in on Castrol TTS @ 50:1 then change to 66:1 to run from then on................but never run the bike......... as the Montesa manual states with Elf @ 80:1 (too lean). However the Castrol TTS bottle says to mix @ 50:1 only Confused.......?? Think I'm going to run Castrol TTS @ 50:1 all the time................ Anybody shed some reliable light on the said subject............for the 315? TIA JB
  19. Try Craig Mawlam..........he has Majesty bits now.............on 01249 890990 JB

    What Model ?

This is my TY175 and it was registered in Nov 1981. That colour scheme ran from late 1980 to about 83/84 I think.............but basically all the bikes from 1975 - 83/84 were the same spec. The only major change (apart from colour schemes) from the early ones to the one in your pic.........was that the earlier bikes had DID silver anodised rims (better) and the later ones had bare polished alloy Tagasaki rims. Hope this helps. JB
  23. Prefix 525 was TY175 only.............all models and 451 is TY80
  24. Montesa 315R On my new bike...........a couple of questions.......??? a) Do I change it after 'running in' for the 1st time.........OR after 3 rides as the comprehensive HRC manual suggests...........I would prefer to change after initial running in..........just to be on safe side... b)Elf HTX 740 is recommended in manual and dealer... BVM............recommended it as the correct oil and the best/only oil to avoid potential 'clutch drag' c) Any other oil that's just as good...........(because it's bloody expensive for tansmission oil @
