  1. John - I'm asking. I would very much like to see a photo. As my brother has our photos from those days I can't dig out the one I'm sure was taken at the time. Further to the original question I am still tryng to remember the other one I am thinking of. I want to say a Firefly by John (?) Lee but am not so sure he covered the Bultaco. I have no doubt that Jon Bliss would have done a one-off too.
  2. I should have remembered that one as I admired it at the Scottish.
  3. I seem to recall that Wasp did a Bulto frame but not sure what model. There was definitely another one but I just can't bring the name to mind, though I can see the photo of it in my mind, over to you Big John?

    Rev 3 Tailpipe Cover

    http://www.trick-bits.com/mainframe.html More choice here
  5. I had a sort of offset lazy Susan arrangement for the spare wheel just behind the hitch that allowed the trailer to be wheeled on its side while lifting the back.
  6. Very like it but I have a dim recollection that they (or the very similar Wassell) were sold under another name in the US. I may dig out an old mag to check the ads. See you at Callander?
  7. I have known people fall off and lose the "cup" that fits between the adjuster and piston on the brake/clutch. Could be a bit awkward doing 2 1/2 days without a front brake. Might be worth carrying one of those? I must now go and buy one as it's sure to happen to me next time out now that I've mentioned it.

    163cc

I'm sure I saw what might be called the longride 4RT on the American Montesa site so the bits must exist to do a conversion. I don't doubt that the Spanish have their own aftermarket guys doing something similar.
  9. A while ago I had a link to a site, run by an Italian photographer if I remember, that had pictures of and articles about various specials using Honda motors in Gas Gas frames. Having lost the web address in a computer rebuild I wonder if anyone has it? Grateful for the info.
  10. Believe me, the last time I had the very biggest of friends and we really struggled! Eventually caught half a thread but it's not for the sensitive.
  11. Thanks Neonsurge. I removed the seal and there is some surface rust on the shaft so it looks like the casing will need to come off after all. I had the sumpguard off once before and was hoping never to have to go through that again. Ah weel I shall have to try and find some strong clamps.
  12. The local BP has it but there's no price displayed. Payment before filling only - nice to be trusted by the big corporations isn't it.
  13. I am losing coolant and the emulsification of the new gear oil seems to indicate where it is going. A strip of the pump shows it to be in good order with no corrosion of the casing but there is slight vertical movement on the shaft though the seal looks okay (for what that
  14. A Whitehawk perhaps?
  15. Now less than four weeks until Parliamentary recess - has anyone got info on how this Bill is progressing and whether it is likely to beat the deadline?
  16. I immediately thought of the Mk1 Ossa too and how everyone replaced them with an alloy guard. The Fantic one was OK but had two frame tubes to back it up. CF sumpguards can only be of (weight/performance) advantage to the really good guys who have a factory to replace the smashed casings anyway so no problem.
  17. Well, what a month, but do we Scots fully appreciate this probably never to be repeated bonanza with four two-day trials on successive weekends and a lot of work on the part of organisers? First up was the Scottish Classic Racing MCC Abington 2 Day, a very enjoyable
  18. No one needs more than one trials bike? Sober up man!
  19. Is that James then Mark? Would be good to see him out again.
  20. What is the point of the FIM worrying about the trifling emissions from a trials bike, be it two or four stroke, when it is being carried round Europe in a van bigger than many people's houses?

    Rev 3 Exhaust Guard

Thanks both. And I suppose I should thank whoever stole the original overnight at this weekend's two-day for at least putting the screws back in.
  22. There was post a while back about an alternative source for the rear silencer cover on the Rev 3. The supplier was Andy Regan but I can't find contact details. Does anyone know of a supplier?

    Blackening The Beta

The "normal" angle appears to be one where the front edge of the rest is quite a bit below the level of the rear edge (at least on the ones I got this week) and I end up standing on just the rear edge in my usual stance, unlike the Beta rests which are level. Haven't ridden with them yet but just wondered how you had got on with this.

    Blackening The Beta

R2W, how do you get on with those footrests tilted down at the front?
  25. Ralph Bryans had a reasonable trials career in Scotland (and the north of England - Lakes Two Day etc) after his World Championship career with Honda.
