  1. Don't think you are going to be able to quiet the bike muffler enough to eliminate your problem. There are many types of ear plugs on the market. They are cheap enough so many different ones can be tried. Your doctor could probably steer you toward the right one to overcome the problem. Good luck !
  2. Bernie managed to win the WTC without a 125cc class. How about Dougie, Fuji, or Raga or any of our previous WTC champions. If the skill, determination and results are demonstrated on a regular basis there exists the potential to be the world champion. I honestly believe that the main reason there have not been any candidates for so many years is the fact that most young people understand that the attainment of a good education is far more important. Very few can make a living from the sport so the education provides them with life long opportunities and trials can be enjoyed as a pastime. Most mature younger people who engage in the sport realize this. It is usually the dads who push their kids to attain whatever they couldn't do in their own youthful years - are you listening Lane? We should all redirect our priorities in life and inspire in the kids what in life is most important. Trials is not a life long occupation it is a sport of fun after completing a well rounded education for a life long career.

    Raptor 4rt Stuff

I have them installed (pegs and brackets) on my 4rt and agree with rhaines - that they are super strong, super light and so far have not had any problems with them packing with mud. They are pricey but worth every penny.

    4rt Valves

While I do not ride the number of events you Brits do I am in contact with a number of riders who have ridden over 100 events plus practice with the 05 4rt. Last year I rode only 10 events. Using the suggested inspection intervals neither those who have a lot of time on the engines nor myself have had to adjust the valves. This does not mean one should automatically assume that they don't have to be checked and adjusted as necessary. If you follow the maintenance schedule in the manual and check the valves at the indicated intervals you will be assured that your particular engine is always running correctly. Don't assume other's experience is a telling factor. Each engine is slightly different and regular maintenance will assure a long trouble-free life.
  5. Lane - It would be very interesting to know if you have ever in your 35+ years of riding experience ever, even once, setup a trials event or for that matter ever even worked an event.
  6. I have installed the ECU unit and used the mild response mapping program. Have not yet tried riding actual sections or loops with the new setup. I have to say that as of now I feel like I have spent an awful lot of money for such little benefit. Since I regularly am in contact with munch he says that the true benefit will be seen in actual sections since he has the unit on his bike. So far I am very disappointed. If you are considering getting the unit try a buddie's bike that has one installed and compare it with the stock bike. There was an item on the Montesa forum from ishy that says that it is the way to go. Take it from me - be sure before you spend all that money.
  7. Last report on factory displacement that I saw was in Trialsworld last year and it said that they are running 286cc's. Might be different for this season.
  8. Carmichael has a Scorpa, not a GG.
  9. The WES muffler is compatible with either the stock 4rt metal guard or the Mitani carbon fiber guards (white or black).
  10. His head will be twice as big as before!!!
  11. Great pictures ishy. Thanks for sharing them.
  12. I still have two pairs of Wellies used during the 70's. Don't use them now as the new boots are actually lighter and provide better leg protection.
  13. Lane - If you sat down and talked with all of the trials bike importers in the US you will find that most of them don't feel that the national series has any effect on the sales of new bikes. There also is no payback to the importers from pro rider sponsorship. So my feeling is that if the US national series disappeared totally trials bike sales would not be effected at all. Like it or not sales volume is more correlative to the World Series.

    Sy 250f

What American web site quoted $9000 for the SY 250f? The Montesa 4rt is around $7500 and the Sherco 3.2 is a couple of hundred dollars more. The SY price is quite high from what one would expect.
  15. WORLD CHAMPION?? Kind of like when Al Gore said that he invented the internet. Were you the first man on the moon too, Lane? Just a continuation of total disinformation from a self appointed hero to the masses. When will it all end?
  16. I have relocated my check valve on the breather hose about 2" from the top of the fuel cap. With this in mind the check valve should be installed with the white ring toward the fuel cap.
  17. One of the things to be considered when evaluating the 4RT is the unique capability of being able to adjust the power curve through remapping of the fuel injection and electronics. With the availability of (5) five different power curves there is enough adjustment to satisfactorily provide desired power characteristics for any rider in any class. This has been discussed by ishy in the Montesa forum and personally evaluated by me from my discussions with others who have tried the various mapping curves available. While I personally have not tried this capability it is a very interesting concept that I will be working on soon. While each rider has an innate ability to rationalize that their own selected brand is better than anything else in the market it is refreshing to read Aaron's relatively unbiased comparison testing based on his years of experience in the expert class in his riding district. The test however does not cover all of the 4RT's optional capabilities available to the owner. The 4RT is to this point the very best four stroke available and it will be interesting to see how it compares to the other brands as they introduce their own models in the near future.

    4rt Throttle

The ideal setup for the 4rt is to use the fast throttle and either a 44 or 46 tooth rear sprocket.

    4rt Throttle

On a fast action (white and/or aluminum) throttle the spool diameter is larger than the slow action ones. The larger diameter makes it possible to move more cable faster with less rotation of the tube.

    4rt Throttle

Aluminum tubes are fast like the white ones.
  21. A three point deduction is the most number of points that can be given for dabbing in a section so he could have dabbed 100 times and still receive a three for his efforts. This has been normal practice for decades. For clarification check the rule book for trials events in your area.
