  1. According to Classic no-stop rules every rider in this video should have received fives. Some fived the sections multiple times. What were their actual scores? It is interesting to note that the scoring wasn't any better with the stop allowed rules. The sport needs professionally trained and paid observers to travel to each event. Otherwise the WTC events are a total farce and meaningless to the sport.

    New Fantic ?

My curiosity about the picture led me to send an email to Adrian to find out more about the bike. I received no response and am now more curious than ever.
  3. Do those pictures relate to the subject matter or are they pornographic facsimiles?
  4. Would be interested to know from those of you who have experience with electric bikes what would be a typical riding period one could experience with a full charge. Are the batteries easily changed so you could ride a typical event of 4-5 hours?
  5. According to the info on the GG website 45-120 minutes. Seriously doubt it will ever go into production.
  6. Use 380cc's of ATF. Using the case sight glass it will show up as half way up the window.
  7. Whatever happened to the new GG electric bike?
  8. I am still a firm believer in the more sensible sections resulting from the no stop rules. When less than 15 riders are participating in the World class sections there needs to be changes made. The severity level of sections set up with no stop in mind would result in greater participation at that level and improve ridership at all levels of competition. On the local level riders (those who work and have families) would be more encouraged to ride. In my district the ridership is dwindling more and more each year. Over the years the number of riders has deteriorated from normal levels of 75-100 down to 25-35 riders per event. The interest in vintage events appear to be increasing each year. These events run no stop rules and and have more sensible sections. If changes are not made soon trials interest will completely disappear in just a few years. Now is the time to make the necessary changes to save the sport.
  9. Use of any sealant with a silicon base is not a good practice. Silicon promotes the oxidation of aluminum. This also holds true when used on rims to eliminate leaks.
  10. Check with Mike Komer at the Tryals Shop in Locke, NY. He has many good used bikes at fair prices that he backs up. Phone: (315) 497-3268 or check out his web page at www.tryalsshop.com. There are pics of a few of the bikes he has available in the used bike section.
  11. There has been a lot of discussion on Trials Central about all of the damage and possible solutions to the ethanol problem especially in small engines in the past. Type in ethanol in the search bar and you can get all you need to know about the ethanol problem. Many of your fellow competitors in D-4 have switched over to avgas 100 both with and/or without stabilizer added. Pure gas has not been obtainable in D-4 for more than a year. The largest Trials bike dealer in the district has been using Avgas 100 for a couple of years with excellent results. I have been using avgas 100 with stabil for some time for all of my small engine equipment (bikes, lawnmower, ORV, etc). It is available in all of the big box stores and car parts stores in the Rochester area. Starbrite is another possibility and is also available in the stores mentioned. You will save yourself a lot of time and expense maintaining your bikes if you stay away from ethanol based gas.
  12. Wonder where the Trials Central videos are. The event was a full week ago today.

  14. You might want to contact Gary at Gumby26. He has a few reconditioned Fantics. He lives locally so it would be easy for you to see the bikes he has done. Gary makes all of his vintage bikes look like they just came off the showroom floor.

According to that web site Mike is not the importer - am I missing something?

    SWM 240 1984

This bike looks as good up close as it does in the picture and is ridden regularly. I have first bid on it when the present owner decides to sell it.
  18. Be very careful about making a blank statement about all gasoline having ethanol. I have done a lot of research on this subject when I started having a 5% reduction in fuel economy in my car when using known gasoline containing ethanol. Most gasolines in New York State do not contain ethanol. Here the pumps are labeled with the ethanol content (usually 10%, some 15%). Check with the local distributors in your area to find out which brands have it. I have had feedback from some trials riders that the ethanol ruins carburetor rubber seals and alloy fuel tanks on modern trials bikes. I would personally recommend that all trials bike owners do not use ethanol in their tanks (bikes or cars) - stick with regular pure gasoline or aviation gas. It will save you a lot of future problems.

    Raga's Surgery

Since Raga is out, Bou has no competition for yet another championship.
  22. When are the videos of the two days of the recent WTC event in Britain going to be published?
  23. Since I could not find a 10 tooth countershaft sprocket either in Europe or here in the USA I had to keep the 11 tooth. The sprocket for the four stroke was changed from that used on the two strokes by providing an offset milled out area on the outside. Changing from an 11 tooth to a 10 tooth using the same rear sprocket (42) would result in an overall ratio of 4.20. I settled on the 11 and increased the rear sprocket to (44) for an overall gear ratio of 4.40. This turned out to be the perfect ratio for this bike.

    Big Change

I have never understood the need to BUY water. The water coming out of the tap is free and of much better quality than bottled water. I guess P.T Barnum was right - "there is a sucker born every minute".
